Re: tiflotecnia vocalizer is marked as malicious by symantec

You don't have to take such extreme measures nor should you just for this problem.  I'm sure there is a way to turn off protection while you run the installer, then turn it back on.  Some installers specifically tell you to turn off protection before running the installer.  There may be more false positives with Windows Defender than their used to be but that's hardly a major problem and the solution, if you want to continue to use the program is  either to turn off protection or, if it is flagging a running program, to exclude the program from what the antivirus program scans.  Generally, antivirus programs have that ability.  Windows
Defender probably does to.

A lot of av stuff does this.

Someone wanted to uninstall the antivirus, I don't care to myself but
you could force the antivirus not to run via services as well as apps in
win10.

People have excluded all their drives from scanning. or important folders.

But to be honest if an antivirus is that bad thats its reporting things
as bad when they are not who knows.

What is worse they change from one day to the next.

Oh, how can you tell then? I find a lot of pages refresh afterwards and that little click is a clue. Try doing anything on some yahoo sites.
Also the downloading finished sound means you do not need to always open the download window.
I think its important to remember that everyone uses windows differently and in the way most convenient to them, just stopping one feature without some discussion with users is stupid and arrogant in my view. It means that they know best, and that has never been my experience. Windows works for people as its very much configurable.

I have no idea what the post really means. Considering that the nv access recommendation is 52 esr and that windows 7 is still a currently supported OS its reasonable to use it.
Added to that is the fact that if the poster had read the thread they would have noticed that at least one user is having the same issue with 58 beta on windows 10fall edition thingy.

Comments like that are more or less guaranteed to start a flame war and I'm not going to do that as I suspect the was meant in jest, but do be careful as not everyone's sense of humour is the same.

I checked out Windows Narrator and heard your problem on my own sample writing. The only thing I can think of is to code it as HTML. There should be a way to pause with HTML since they have timed forms and such. Just code it to pause for 1 second. I say that without knowing HTML, sorry.

A different approach is to see if you can insert a sound. If the screen reader reached the end of the line and read a silent sound file of one-half of one second and then continued, then the pause would be longer than a period by itself.

Just trying to offer ideas, even if I can't offer a solution.

Hmm I use a program called eusing free registry cleaner for this kind of issue. You need to take care of course and look at what it is asking to delete, as although it is mostly safe, it can muck stuff up. Best manually set a restore point before messing about.

Is it possible that the installer is finding a remaining entry in the

Any suggestions would be much appreciated,

Re: hd criotgraphy (mainly win10 bitlocker)

No, I have never done this myself.

I have had to deal with a server using a cryptolocking style drive with raid backup and a keycode.

Sadly it was on its last legs and had been running slowly.

A new system was got and all software was installed, however, on turning it on, the main logic board part of the key decided to stop existing by happily melting and smoking.

The data was useless, it couldn't be decrypted or anything and while there were several cloud backups of important data one email database and a lot of photos schedualed for backup hadn't been loaded to the right place just yet.

As a result, there was a problem.

The system had worked for the last 10 years and the owner hadn't thought about making a recovery key just incase the logic board broke.

The tech that loaded the system tried his best but nothing.

The guy who sold the drive tried his best but nothing.

Luckily the tech knew someone with really grunty forensic software and was able to get the data sorted however all the folders were destroyed, as well as the file names, and even so some data was lost.

And while I admit this was a isolated insident a little while later I had been transfering backups to another drive when my new and old backups promptly died I managed to replace that and it was fine and I have 2 small drives.

Its been 3 years though and so I probably need to replace one of those drives at some point soon.

I don't need sounds to tell me if something is loading.

Yeah use Firefox 58 beta 16. Yeah it’s a bit slow with NVDA, but hey it
works. Its not as slow as V 57.X

hi,
i have the same problem with the same version of Firefox. however, i
use Windows 10 version 1709 with the latest built and NVDA 2017.4
sometimes by moving away and coming back it loads while at other times
it won't. it is irritating and i've not been able to establish one set
method for it to launch.
it also says "toolbar edit".
it made me wonder if some toolbar had been installed that caused this
to happen. not certain on this either.
thanks for any solutions.

I will certainly post the results. I have avoided registry editing since registries appeared. Have you any tutorials to suggest?

So interesting about the Zip file. Downloading a file at a time, I was going to ask it you might consider doing just that.

I will be doing classes at our local library this spring on PC access and have decided on NVDA as the screen reader choice. There is a wave of us “baby boomer” seniors headed our way and many will lose vision as they age. Most of that generation will be regular long time computer users. At our ages many will no longer have access to rehabilitation equipment support as they will not be in the job market. They are not likely to want to give up their computer use, but may not have the $800 plus to invest in the other options.

I have also been working with Windows Magnifier in combination with NVDA as a means to create what Fusion offers, that is a way to move from enlarged display to speech as a process not a leap. In general, the two together work quite well.

I am so impressed with what the developers and supporters like you have managed to do. The tuff future ahead is to discover the paths that lead to long term ongoing development. The target does not stand still as demonstrated by the recent browser changes.

Thanks,

Rick

You’re welcome anytime. Just in case you do manage to fix this, do let folks know.

As for the tutorial: we’re at home stretch, and if things go as planned, all parts will be packaged into a zip file in February. Speaking of tutorial packaging: expect changes in one or more segments between now and February.

Repeatedly, I have tried doing the most recent Windows 10 update. Get to the step where the installer asks me to uninstall this program as it cannot. The program at fault is, Window eyes 9.1. It is not listed as an installed program in Programs and Features, “add or remove”. I have searched the entire computer for Window Eyes and GW Micro remains and find nothing.

Is it possible that the installer is finding a remaining entry in the registry?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated,
