I can't send an NVDA log file because NVDA isn't working when this problem occurs and it only shows a log of the current session when I open the log viewer. If there's a way to retrieve a previous log from somewhere, I'd love to hear it.

Since I got my Braille Display in February, NVDA has frozen with alarming regularity. It hasn't been like previous experiences of the phenomenon either. I used to occasionally have NVDA freeze, but I could restart the screen reader with alt+ctrl+n. With this situation, I can't. NVDA completely stops working. It says nothing. The Braille display's display remains frozen on whatever was last spoken. I can't restart NVDA, and sometimes can't even shut down the computer without sighted help. That's the only way to get things working again-shut down and restart the computer. I used to only experience this soon after startup, especially when I tried to activate the snapshot with the experimental UEB table in it, but now I'm having it happen after the computer's been going for a while, and it happens on both the normal installation and the brltbl snapshot. Just now, I had it happen while I was writing in a document. I was typing merrily away when NVDA stopped reporting letters and the Braille Display, when I checked it, was only displaying the first two words I'd typed on that line.
This is getting seriously annoying both for me and my mother, who is my carer. I don't know what's causing this problem but I have a horrible feeling it's to do with my Focus 40 Blue, as it didn't happen before I got it. Can anyone shed some light on this? I want it to stop so my writing and other activities don't keep getting interrupted.

Re: NVDA still freezing, don't know what the deal is
Hi,
Yes, NVDA freezes, and during the last two times this happened, Word froze as well. Other things worked but my mother had to navigate the computer because I could hear nothing. This is, however, not the only time this has happened. I've had to deal with
this frequently over the last couple of months, and sometimes it was something as simple as activating the snapshot and changing the Braille Output table from Unified English to the English Unified Experimental table that would trigger this. I used to use
the Braille Display to read my Bible every day when I first got on the computer. I have had to forego that practice because setting up the snapshot just after startup almost always necessitated a restart of my computer.
How can I activate Narrator without having speech to begin with? If there's a key command, I'd love to know it.

You can do that.
1. Open the Run dialog (Windows+R). 2. Type %Temp% in the edit box and press Enter. 3. Press n until you hear nvda-old.log and open it. 4. You can copy the text to an email message and send it here.

Re: Accessible online survey creation tool
I have no idea how accessible it is, but you could also take a look at the Survey Monkey website.  They have a free version and a pro version.  I've received a lot of surveys over the years that have been created using Survey Monkey.  I would be curious to know whether the tool is accessible as far as doing the creation of a survey.  The surveys themselves are a series of webpages that use things like radio buttons, dropdown lists, text boxes, etc., for actual data entry by the survey taker. Brian --Â

NVDA still freezing, don't know what the deal is
I've mentioned this before, but it's been weeks and I don't know if I got any more useful help after Joseph said to submit a log entry. Which given the nature of my problem, I doubt would work.
That's the only way to get things working again—shut down and restart the computer.

Re: Accessible online survey creation tool
Hi Bhavya, unfortunately now I can't to try this and I?ve not a ready form. After press send button you should find some icons on top of page to get a link, send by mail, sharing on social network etc... If you don't move your form on trash from menu setting, you will not lose your survey. Google saves automatically your last edits. Cheers. Chris.

Hi Chris and others, I have created a good survey form using Google Forms, previewed it and ensured it is the way it needs to be. Now, I am confused about a trivial yet the most important question one must ask - how can I save this and get it online for me to share its link for people to fill and submit? I have pressed the Send button, and now am trying to figure out a safe way to do do this, but am just too cautious to experiment so as not to lose all that I have created till now. Thanks.

Hi Chris, Actually, I am making good progress on making a survey form using Google Forms. One question that I have for now is moving and changing the order of the questions, i.e. moving them up and down. Ctrl + Shift + K/J is something I don't know when to press as there is not specific focusable option for an item or option. Please help me in that respect, otherwise I will try to finish the survey form for now. Thanks.

Dear all, I require to create an online survey about a certain potential initiative and the amount of interest in it people may have, which may include several question types - country combo box/dropdown, open ended question edit box, radio button and check box, and an introductory paragraph. For this, I seek your advice and recommendations of a free online survey creation service that could fulfill my purpose. I do not need very advanced functionality, simply basic survey creation, sharing and results analysis features would suffice. I would really appreciate any assistance any of you may be willing to give! Thanks.

But the problem here is that when you are in the
proper part of the Window and have opened a page, you have to tab once at times
to be able to move in and read the page. I haven't paid much
attention to this. In my case, using firefox, it is a problem that occurs
off and on but that doesn't occur nearly every time I load a page. I
believe I've seen the same problem when using Google, though I don't use google
much.Â
Â
I haven't tested to see if the problem exists in
other screen-readers.
