3. Cursor down to Paste options and then right arrow to the option

Greetings from friends,

When we copy from files such as Microsoft Word Document, the text
remains the same.
But when I copy a contents from the web page, the heads and images in
the text and  format disappear.
I use the Shift + Down arrow keys to make a copy. I choose the text.
Then copy it with Ctrl + C.

What should I do to make a smooth copy?

Respected friends, as you are well aware that Mozilla has updated its browser FF58 on January 23rd 2018 as it promised!

I’m very much delighted to let you know that NVDA is well a head of all screen reader regarding the use of FF58.

The matter of fact is that I have JAWS 18.4530, JAWS 2018.1712.54, narrator and NVDA 2017.4.

I have tested FF58 with all of them and I found out that Fire Fox 58 is working the best with NVDA 2017.4.

I really couldn’t understand that even then Freedomscientific/VFO is charging hundreds and thousands of US Dollars from visually challenged people and from different agencies which are helping visually challenged people, why they haven’t come up with JAWS update before releasing of Fire Fox 58!

This fundamental question is enough to convince those people and agencies which are giving hundreds and thousands of Dollars to Freedomscientific/VFo, should donate a hand some amount of money to NVAccess as well so it can work for the betterment of visually challenged people better than before!

In short all I can say is “East and west, NVDA is the best”

Hi Group,

This is actually a response to another thread concerning copying from a web page and retaining formatting. Unfortunately, I deleted the entire thread by mistake so I had to start another thread.

In any case, with more recent versions of Microsoft Word, it is possible to open an HTML page into a new document.  It's a bit more complex, but if one really wishe4s to maintain proper formatting, I would think this would work.  I have never tried it before, but try the following.

1.  Save the web page to disk.

2.  Open Word and from the open file dialogue, browse to the HTML file and bring it into Word.  See if the major formatting is retained.

I made an error in the original message.  Here is a corrected version.

If the problem started immediately after you installed the program, they might well be connected.  System Restore is intended to be used when odd problems exist for which there is no known good solution or no definitely known solution at all.  You might save yourself a lot of work, time, and trouble by running a restore point, if you have one, from before the problem started.

Hi:  I'm new to this list so thought I'd throw out my problem for your consideration.  As of a little over a week ago, NVDA stopped reading web pages-with any browser-; doesn't read context menus; start menus and taskbars; the bodies of emails-both received and written-; things in my control panel.  It does read my desktop and system tray and folder lists.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled it.  I have done the thing suggested on the tutorials list to re-register the dl files.  I am using windows 10 64-bit  fall creator's edition.  NVDA  didn't have any problem with any updates.  the only thing I installed recently was a dictionary program that turned out not to work with Windows 10.   It just says :unknown"  or is silent.  I'm using a different screen reader to write this.Any suggestions?

It normally gives a prompt and lets you put stuff on an “allow” list. Not sure how it works with plugins vs sites though; never even thought of that before.

Noscript blocks JAVA scripts.  If that is the only thing you did that interfeered with Webvism, then that was the problem.

Yeah, sorry. That old machine and FF is long gone now and I only mentioned that for context, that I was never even able to get the add-on to do what it was supposed to do. As it happens, I did use noscript at the time, so maybe there was a conflict. Now it seems to work/log me in and give me options that I did not see before, but it still gives me an error when I try to solve a capsha. No need to solve anything; think I’ll just get FF 58 anyway and try the add-on  with the portable version as you suggest. I’m not that upset about it not working.

Then you may have settings set incorrectly.  Since you don't explain the problems, we can't address them other than to give general information.

If you have JAVA scripts disabled and if you have automatic downloading of images disabled, Webvism can't work.  I would imagine that if you are using something like noscript, that would cause it not to work as well.

You can use an older portable version of Firefox with Webvisum only on sites you need it for.  You can use the current version you would already have for general browsing.  And this is not related to the new versions of Firefox.  Firefox made some security changes after version 52 that made it not work with many plugins, including Webvism.

If the problem started immediately after you installled the problem, they might well be connected.  System Restore is intended to be used when odd problems exist for which there is no known good solution or no definitely known solution at all.  You might save yourself a lot of work, time, and trouble by running a restore point, if you have one, from before the problem started.

Subject: [nvda] A weird problem with NVDA

Retaining Formatting From a Web Page When Inserting Into Microsoft Word File

Ron Canazzi

Re: navigating between frames

The Gamages

Hello Ollie,
##############thank you for that, unfortunately it doesn't work here,
these are obviously not normal frames, although NVDA anounces them as
such when the mouse is positioned over them.

Best Regards, Jim.

Hello,

I don't know whether this would apply here, but the single-letter
command for frames is m and shift+m respectively, to move forward and
backward one frame at a time.

hth,

Ciao,

Ollie

Hello,
I am experimenting with labels in Libre office writer, I have a sheet
of labels on screen, NVDA announces these as frames, I can’t see the
screen but I can use the physical mouse and NVDA announces the number
of the frame, left clicking gets me into the frame and I can type into
it and read it back.
The problem, is using keyboard shortcuts to go between these frrames,
does anyone know of the shortcut to navigate between frames?
Any comments would be appreciated.
Best Regards, Jim.

Re: FireFox 58 And Screen Readers

Andy

Many sites are now using something called Recaptcha.

It is supposedly designed to be accessible. There is a check box following a statement "This is not a robot" If you check this, it will give you a pass, but it is not always possible to check the box using a screen reader. I have found that the audio challenge is usually easy to solve.

You can use an older portable version of Firefox with Webvisum only on sites you need it for.  You can use the current version you would already have for general browsing.  And this is not related to the new versions of Firefox.  Firefox made some security changes after version 52 that made it not work with many plugins, including Webvism.

If Webvisum is no longer an option, what other choices exist for solving
Captias?

Hello there,
There are other problems that save us time.

When we open a document with LibreOffice, NVDA's cursor does not focus on the context. NVDA's cursor is hanging in an uncertain location.
And I press the ALT key, then I press ESC.
That's how I solve the problem.
