I don't think its nvda actually at least it normally returns to normal after a reboot on windows 7, but then I just downloaded the latest master snap which I use as a daily version and have seen no problems. it might be in the next branch, as I only use that portably.

I've seen this happen, indeed I only wrote about it a few messages back. the only cure I found was a windows reboot. If that does not work then I don't know.

Well you can't unless you have whats app on the phone and can scan an inaccessible code from whats app.

You can hold the phone close to your display on first start to do that but to be honest whats app is a web program, since you need the phone to even use that, I wouldn't bother with pc myself you could try I guess. The web version works aparently but I have yet to bother with that. Though with the skype issue I may just forget skype for anything serious, just about everyone in the family here and oversease in asia, indonesia and china not to mention germany and holand on my family list uses it and it may be my eventual path.

Re: Where's my Chatzilla?

toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
Right now thats 56.x right now. And that will stay that way till june this year when its supposed to upgrade to another brouser using the same tech which means even if they are not updated anymore our old addons will work including noscript 5x. Which is all I care about. The advantages with waterfox is optional not forced multi cpu use, and to be honest for a blind person you don't need multi cpu. The ilimination of all the extra addons, streamers, encoders and supposed spying tools. You get all the languages to. There are ofcause some disadvantages. One of those is you don't get any advanced add shield addons, no background incrimental updates, at least not via addon, no vine codec, h265 and another codec, no drm, no encription, and maybe no html5 I am unsure, you also don't get all the extra file associations you are used to by default anyway. And thats fine. I have yet to find a reason I'd need it but if you do need to read something encripted chances are you may not be able to I am not sure. The only advantage is you can use older mozilla addons, right now waterfox is still though tenuously linked to the mozilla site, stores, addons databases, etc. With the death of esr52 in june, all those older stores will be erased aparently. Planns are being made for waterfox to use its own infrastructure for that. Supposedly waterfox will then upgrade to its own engine based off the opensourced firefox build in classic mode but weather I stay with waterfox after that depends on how accessible it continues to be. It will use the old addon tech which the blind are used to which is fine. I have not seen any issues with web pages like youtube or anything but to be honest I am not that extreme. What I may end up doing is keeping both firefox, waterfox and chrome on my boxes the newer ones at least and just use 1 or the other as I need to depending on what happens. This old duel core however runs waterfox better than firefox the newer will be a duel drive quad or amd 12 core, so weather that changes anything is unknown. For me, after what ms said about accessibility services and that accessibility is the issue, if waterfox continues to work I will continue to use it. True the older system has less security but it works, doesn't slow me down and has no issues. And to be honest, in that respect security can take a back seat. Firefox 57 caused me no amount of issues include some radio controls in options unclickable, the end of the nice menu bar and only buttons for addons which even nvda can not read, the fact my processer was at full power fans at full speed all day long and the frequent lockups. Mozilla have lost me with firefox, I just hope thunderbird doesn't go the same way, else I am going to have to find something else that won't screw me over. The only good thing is that thunderbird has not changed and I don't use addons on tb so as long as that continues to be that way then I have no issue with it. It also seems that mozilla are upgrading stable thunderbird with security updates only which is fine.

I had a lot of issues in the last windows rerun with stuff like this even with it gone there were still traces.

Eventually the system screwed up and I reformatted, a reformat is the only way to get rid of all the malware. Its why I spent 40 bucks on goldwave. And its probably one of the only reasons I use goldwave bar restoration of audio tracks, goldwave and audacity work well for that. I don't use those for recording though virtual recorder is better suited to my basic needs as well as my field recorder. Yeah I know 40 bucks for a software package just to do cds but it works and has worked in the past. As an added plus it uses free cddb which is what old nero6 the last accessible version I used which was not legal back in the day. It was barebones, now I use cdbxp for writing and goldwave for extracting. Applian video capture bits of it for conversion and online conversion sites for the rest. Its a bit adhok but it works for me at least. There is a portable of cdex and 7zip can extract the installer however I just don't like the interface anymore.

There is a way to not have the installer install the free software but it requires using object navigation in NVDA or the touch cursor in JAWS. If you use System Access, it sees the options in the installation dialog. I played with the installer awhile ago and I don't remember what I did to see the item for not installing the bundle. But for those who know how, these days, when installing free software, and given how much of it contains potentially unwanted programs, looking at the various installer fields with object navigation or the JAWS Touch cursor would be a good precaution.

Hi, The biggest advantage is reaching more people. Windows 10 S, and to some extent, other Windows 10 versions with some Group Policy settings applied, will restrict app installation sources to Microsoft Store. This means, if NVDA is approved for distribution on the Store, it can be found by anyone. There will of course be restrictions, but most features will work (unless Store submission policy changes). Hi all,
Windows 10 App Essentials 18.02 is now available (from the usual place via the usual update method). This release introduces a workaround for some apps that wouldn’t let NVDA announce new messages automatically, as well as improving emoji panel experience for Windows Insiders.
Important: in order to concentrate on school and other things (including putting last minute touches to Welcome to NVDA 2018 tutorial series and preparing for national speech and debate competitions in April), I’m taking a break from development of this add-on in February. During this time:
P.S. The real reason: Producing Welcome to NVDA 2018 tutorial set has burned me out, thus I’m desperate for a break. Besides, I do need to concentrate on preparing for possibly two national speech and debate competitions in April, as well as making sure I am ready to learn new things in college courses (for reference, I am a Cal State LA student and a speech and debate competitor there alongside carrying out my duties for the NVDA community); as much as NVDA community and my add-ons (and code contributions and what not) are important, I cannot forget who I truly am (a student), hence taking a break from NVDA activities for a while (I’ll discuss my current situation in a later post). Thank you and enjoy the new WinTenApps update. Cheers, Joseph
