Hi.

Using win10pro 1709 Build 16299.192 and NVDA version 2017.4

When I arrow up or down in outlook 2016 messages at random I hear things like minimise the window or  alt something to do something…. As if a stretch out menu like when you press the alt key and get the menu restore, minimise, maximise etc…. Also when I got to the top of my messages I hear desktop.

When typing in this email I keep hearing at odd time forms region,  and  desktop, and clear tabs or something like that.

I reloaded nvda to no avail. Maximised and restored windows to no avail.

However I noticed that this started today and not sure when I had upgraded to build 16299.192 which may have a bearing but couldn’t be certain.

Any help sa to resolve this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Re: Here's a new accessible IRC client for windows.

Well I'll let others look at it.

As a user I tried mirc and din't care for it.

I do subscribe to miranda irc but to be honest I  rarely have time to just sit on my rear to chat or anything, I always have something on, if its not a book or a load of audio its well lets see excercises, life.

Even now, I have several books on the go, a bunch of audio series and a few podcasts, not to mention who knows what else on the go.

And I have just spent basically the last 2-3 hours doing my line activities as well as general work, so catting is not for me.

I used to enjoy bofhnetirc by the same guys that made freedomchat and then later on the freedomchat client to some extent but that was ages, when I had times to chat on msn.

Now skype but with skype going inaccessible while I do still have an old version its not something I engage in that much anymore.

Hi
Just to let you all know, the orbit reader20 low cost $449 braille display is now on sale. It works very good with NVDA. It is liquid and dust resistant, dots do not give when pressed, feels like braille on elevator doors or ATM machines, very rugged and durable meant for use in extreme hostile environments. You can buy it from

The Qube is another free twitter client is a lot like TW Blue, but it does not have user menus. You have to use all commands to use it.

Re: Here's a new accessible IRC client for windows.

Hi.

When you say “IRC programme”, are you talking about the iRC protocol itself, or a client for Windows? I have used MIRC on Windows since the late 90s, and ran IRCII through a linux shell before that. Never had any accessibility issues, except when trying to run third-party scripts, like server scripts for filesharing and the like.

A blind developer is working on, I guess you could say? A fork of the existing IRC program but the developer of the IRC program, the original one, is already working on making accessibility much better. So the fork won't update much until the new accessible version comes out. The fork will utilize the new accessible version much better. but if any of you developers want to take a look at it the git page is below.

Re: orbit reader20 now on sale

Josh Kennedy

orbit reader20 can do 3 things. 1. store and read .brl .brf and .txt files on an sd card. 2. take notes in raw braille .brl or brf format or .txt computer braille format. 3. connect to computers phones and tablets with USB or bluetooth as a braille terminal for screen readers. it also has a file manager. it has lots of editing commands also. you can read and write any braille code you want. no on board translator to get in your way of reading and writing. you can use send2braille that is free, or braille blaster, that is also free, to make braille documents from word and text and nimas files.

Re: What's App?

Hi! I have tested this out too. I think it is fully based on web, hence accessible for NVDA. I have even managed to scan the QR code myself. I am using iPhone with iOS 11 and latest version of the app. Whenever it sees the code, it vibrates. so you know that you're scanning and you need to hold your device for a bit. Code was placed at the left side of the screen. After scanning was done, I was signed in immediately. Everything works fine.

Re: Substitute punctuation marks with sounds

The user would select the sound for the specific punctuation.  There wouldn't be preassigned sounds.

I'm sure you were aware that there was a now dead comedian who made a lot of
money with his monologues where he substituted sounds for Punctuation!
Victor Borge'

Now my one problem with having a mode like this is, given the number of
different marks and their meaning in different circumstances in different
languages, it could need one heck of a  lot of individual sounds to cover
them all. I do know what you are getting at different sorts of brackets and
colons etc, are main candidates, with underscores being also useful.

Maybe this is add on territory ie a programmers version as most of us prefer
not to hear these greater thans etc all over the place, but obviously such
things are important in programming as are brackets and indents etc.
