Re: my pc works properly but NVDA IS NOT WORKINF FINE IN WINDOWS10
Chris
What I’m trying to get at is what is the behaviour you are experienceing? Does it say nothing at all or says gibberish or unknown or something else etc
I’m sorry but saying doesn’t work does not compute with me
One thing you could try is to delete/move/rename the profile folder in your c:\users\profile name\appdata\roaming\nvda
Then restart nvda which will create anew profile With defaults see if that helps
And of course you did try a reboot firs rightt?
Other than that its a guess without further information

Re: important to read before installing CCleaner
Well the reason there is so much add ware is that a lot of stuff is free but aint really.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
Some stuff is subscription based, some stuff you need to buy. It will not totally solve the malware issue but if someone is loading loads of adds and stuff in their programs, chances are that they actually do need your cash so if you can I would try to support said dev rather than leach from them. This may or may not get you out of all the malware, on the other hand you may just get a little more and they may even be happy to talk to you over email. I have had to buy a few programs to avoid malware, some opensource stuff is full of malware and adds. The thing is that resources and dev programs are not cheap. Developers if they can try to keep their stuff free, but they need addware to keep it so and only do it for convenience. I doubt that anyone actually uses adds for proffit, they don't get them that much but enough. So if you can afford it grab it. I do this for 1 offs. I am not a subscription kind of guy though. Its a shame adds can't be customised to things we could get in our local countries and then down to what we would hear and read normally in tv the radio and news paper. If all the adds that appeared on my system were like this it wouldn't be a problem because I am exposed to these and more on the radio and tv. The issue is that most adds are for you to get drugs or something or well dodgy programs to fix issues that don't exist and more scams. I think if we can smarten up the add industry all the spyware issue at least some of it will not be as bad.

as a work around I suggest: 1. don't use a blank webpage. I put google.com and now this problem is gone. 2. gmail is not accessible if you use adblocker or ublock. As a work around, I found this extension that block ads and allow NVDA to use gmail correctly. The only problem now is that must find an antisocial extension in order to hide facebook buttons. Hello,
I'm using google chrome with a blank page as main page. When I open Chrome, then I press alt-d to go to address bar and then I search something. As a result, I see the page loaded into the screen, but NVDA is not able to read the content, it says busy document. I should open another page, for example m.facebook.com, then return to address bar and search something again, and now it works. Do you have the same issues?

Re: important to read before installing CCleaner
Gene
I didn't keep the message from the person who
discussed potentially unwanted programs In portable versions because I didn't
think I would have any comments. However, after reading the message, I
looked at information on the portable apps page for portable CDEX. The
following statement appears:
Online Installer: This is installer will download
CDex during setup.
Local Version Warning: The local version installer uses what is considered a malicious bundleware add-on that will be detected as such by several antivirus engines. The portable version downloads the local version installer but extracts the files from it without running the installer, protecting you from bundleware. The download may trigger a detection in your antivirus, however. If that is true for this
portable program, then I consider the danger of running installers for other
portable versions of programs to be unresolved.

Avast and chrome are not the issue, its all this opencandy stuff. Windows defender is supposed next month to be able to be more aggressive with scareware etc which sadly seems to be more false positives nad probably more targeting of the disabled, for games and other programs. Advice for using the dictionary in CodeFactory
Chris Shook <chris0309@...>
Hi,
I thought I'd post this in case it might help someone. When changing words in Vocalizer Expressive or Eloquence for CodeFactory, it would be best to use the speach dictionary built into NVDA as apposed to the dictionary CodeFactory provides. The reason for this is two fold. 1. If you need to remove the addon for anyreason, you will lose any words you have added to CodeFactory's dictionary. You can export a copy, but if you make the changes in NVDA's speach dictionary, you don't have to worry. 2. CodeFactory's dictionary does not change the plural of the word only the singular. For example, if you have read the Harry Potter books, the vocalizer UK voices pronounce Weasley as Weesly and the plural as Wealyes. If you correct this using CodeFactories dictionary, it will only correct the singular pronunciation not the plural. However, if you correct the word using NVDA's speach dictionary it adjusts the singular and the plural. I hope this helps someone. Chris

Re: Outlook 2013 and NVDA locking on password prompt
Gene
You can try using the object navigator commands and
you can use the route and click mouse command. If you don't know how to do
these things, you can see explanations in Joseph Lee's NVDA tutorial, a very
highly thought of work.
I won't go into how to do these
things in this message because I don't know what you know and how to use the
object navigator can't practicablly be taught in an e-mail message.

This window comes up as a separate window on the computer. If I switch focus to that window using alt+tab, NVDA tells me that it is not responding. I am unable to enter any text in it but I can read the window title using nvda key + t. If someone clicks with the mouse to get focus to that window, I am able to enter my password. Has anyone else encountered this? I am using NVDA 2017.4. Pranav

Hi Kerryn, I copied this from last October's In-Process re using OCR. Basically: To do OCR with NVDA 2017.4 on Windows 10: 1. Open the PDF file in Adobe Reader.
2. Press NVDA+r. NVDA reports “Recognising”. After a pause, NVDA reports “Result document”. 3. Although visually, the screen hasn’t changed, NVDA has placed the text recognised in the image in a “virtual document”. You can navigate around this just like a document in WordPad. Press NVDA+down arrow (laptop: NVDA+a) to read the whole document from the current point. 4. Press control+home to move to the top of the virtual document. 5. Press down arrow to move through and read the text line by line. 6. When finished, press escape to exit the virtual document. Or, using Windows 7 or 8 OR NVDA earlier than 2017.3: 1. Open the PDF file in Adobe Reader. 2. Press NVDA+r. NVDA reports “Recognising”. After a pause, NVDA reports “Done”. 3. Although visually, the screen hasn’t changed, NVDA has placed the text recognised in the image in a “virtual document”. You can navigate around this using the review cursor. Press numpad plus (laptop: NVDA+shift+a) to read the whole document from the current point. 4. Press shift+numpad 7 (laptop: NVDA+control+home) to move to the top of the virtual document. 5. Press numpad 9 (laptop: NVDA+down arrow) to move through and read the text line by line. The article is: https://www.nvaccess.org/post/in-process-5th-october-2017/ With regard to "utilising the mouse arrow", could you please clarify exactly what you are trying to do? Yes it is possible to do several things either with the mouse, or to the mouse and with further information, I can give you steps for that also. Kind regards Quentin.

Hi Pranav,

Something to try may be to switch to window using alt + tab, route mouse cursor there using NVDA + numpad /, and then use just numpad / to carry out a mouse click yourself? Alternatively, you could use golden cursor add-on to set a standard mouse location that requires being clicked on at a later stage? Avast shouldn't be installed and run if you are
already using another antivirus program.

CCleaner But chrome, to be honest when does stuff become unwanted if you use it. Like for example if you use avast, and or chrome, if it was bundled, its 1 less thing to load. Avast and chrome are not the issue, its all this opencandy stuff. Windows defender is supposed next month to be able to be more aggressive with scareware etc which sadly seems to be more false positives nad probably more targeting of the disabled, for games and other programs. Outlook 2013 and NVDA locking on password prompt
Hi all,
I use Outlook 2013 at work on Windows 10. If I connect to my work e-mail from a network other than my work network, I am asked for a password. Pranav
