Re: Master snapshot is only 540k

My answer nowadays is to use the next snap, and use master as my installed copy. As long as you have a portable copy of the release version you can always revert back.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
That way the updates arrive automatically via the snap internal downloader for both versions as Next now no longer uses the browser to download new versions. Master snapshot is only 540k
Gene New Zealand <hurrikennyandopo@...>
Hi guys
is the servers playing up? For the last couple of days i have been trying to download a master snapshot and each time it comes down it is only about 540k. Is the server playing up? for when i go to click on it up comes a security smart screen I think it is the windows one.
I am also wondering if things have changed like it is a stub then it gets the main file? I am guessing not.
I usually like once a week to see what might of gone into it each week.
Has any one else had the same problems?
This was doing it from inside of the master snapshot under the help section.
I have also tried it from the main page and still got the same results.
This was again on feb 18th and also tried on the 17th

Re: usable torrent client recommendations?
JM Casey <crystallogic@...>
Hey guys.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
Unless I missed something, noone was wasting time by condemning torrents in general within this thread. I think Brian was merely saying he wouldn't put a client on his main computer. I don't really think it's that justified, but that's fine. I no longer have a secondary computer, in any case. Thanks for the suggestion of Qbittorent. I ended up doing what John suggested, and it got rid of the uTorrent advertisements. I'm now quite happy, although to my surprise the program still crashes if I leave it unattended for hours. Oh well. At least it looks a lot cleaner.

Re: usable torrent client recommendations?
John Isige
I didn't particularly like it. You can't get to the downloading torrents, as far as I can tell. In UTorrent or however you spell it, once you get rid of the ads, you can tab to the list. NVDA doesn't read it by default, i.e. if you arrow through it, but you can use screen review or object, I forget which right at the moment, to see what you're dealing with.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
Also, just for fun I deleted a torrent after it downloaded. That made it throw fifty million notifications about an I/O error, which didn't even cease after I exited the program. I had to uninstall it to make them stop. That's just sloppy. If the file was in use, as it clearly should have been since the program kept trying to access it, it shouldn't have allowed it to be deleted. That's just me though. I mean it's not horrible or anything, and in some ways it was a bit more accessible. I just don't really see a reason to switch. I should add I deleted the downloaded folder from Windows Explorer, not QBittorrent itself. But again, I shouldn't have been allowed to do that, since QBittorrent was clearly trying to access it on a regular basis after the deletion occurred, it threw a notification every few seconds.

When I started with win10 we had music, and I used it could have used it a lot more. I spent a lot of cash on it. Then music went away. They got the apps in accounts now so at least things can be done without their stupid microsoft account junk. They have local account questions I wander if that happens only if you have a password or not. From then on things have changed and changed to a point who knows. Another brief comment or two. In future if
something like this comes up, I'll let the list know if the problem has been
resolved when it is. I didn't anticipate this discussion. I thought
that if nothing happened, the topic would stop. But given the strong
feelings some list members have, I should have anticipated and stopped the
discussion by telling the list that the problem was resolved. I did notify
the owner off list but that didn't stop this situation from arising.
Also, I'm sorry if some people think I've been to
critical in my response but I feel strongly about this. The contact the
owner link is there for a reason. I hope no one was offended by the tone
of my last message but if a situation like this arises in future, please don't
pour oil on the fire by discussing the matter on list. Write to the
owner's contact address.
I shall now lock the topic.
Gene
----- Original Message -----
One final comment and then I shall lock the
topic. Doesn't anyone have any common sense? If Maheen is unstable
and disruptive, then why is anyone discussing him on the list? Does it
really take a masters degree in psychology to realize that this discussion
should have been directed to the contact the owner's link which is given in
every e-mail? This is definitely not the way to handle such a
situation. If such a situation arises in future, please discuss it off
list. this is strictly an administrative matter and is completely off
topic for this list and, if Maheen were still a member of the list, what do you
think you would be accomplishing by having him see all these very negative
comments about him on the list. You are just asking for trouble if your
comments are true.
Again, doesn't anyone have any common sense?
Gene
----- Original Message -----
The issue no longer exists. Maheen joined the
list to promote his discussion group. I kept him moderated and, when he
sent a message promoting it, I wrote him privately explaining that the message
isn't remotely on topic and won't be allowed. I don't know what Maheen is
doing now. I haven't followed him to any extent in the past. I know
a very little about him which is why I kept him moderated to see if he played
buy the list rules. He didn't. But whatever you think of him, he
didn't make a fuss, he didn't try to persuade me to approve the message, he did
nothing but unsubscribe.
The matter is closed. I strongly don't want
any more comments on this issue. I'll lock the thread if it
continues.
