Did you change the keyboard layout or are you still using the default,
which is the desktop layout? If you are using the desktop layout, press

Re: accessibility of other browsers for nvda users:

Gene

Do you mean is it legal?  Not if the Adobe license agreement is legal.  But who is going to prosecute you if you use it in Iran?  Because of sanctions, I assume you can't download it from Iran unless you use some sort of identity obscuring program.  But I don't think that is the main problem Zara is referring to.  Since Adobe has been observing sanctions against Iran for a number of years, the implementation of the display of documents in Persian may be poor, because it hasn't been developed and refined over time.  When Adobe started following sanctions, work on the implementation of that language, presumably, stopped.  That appears to be why Zara says it's bad.

There is a dialogue for this in 7, I assume it also exists in 10, and I nearly always need to turn down the system sounds an turn up the master volume to stop the overloading of the amplifier on dings and bangs

It failed at the first try, but the second went like the wind. This is getting daft now. One would imagine it would either work or not, and nothing else seems to be affected at all.
Could it be an internet routing issue somewhere and some have the faulty link sometimes and others more often, and how on earth can you find out?

Quentin Christensen, 20/02/2018 00:58:
Hi everyone,

Since this problem seemed to happen to some users and not others (and some
intermittently), our best guess is that the file gets distributed across
several servers to make it a faster download for people in different parts
of the world, and one of these copies may have got corrupt during copying.

In any case, Mick has pushed an update this morning which is live now and
certainly at least for me, seems to download ok:

Version 14868,48743675 Mon Feb 19 23:22:15 2018

I expect the same problem will remain for anyone trying to download the
previous master build, but if you have problems with this new one, please
let us know.

Regards

Quentin.

I wonder failing all of that if there is a keep alive setting in WGet
where it will just keep trying and resuming until the download is gotten,
or you can try it from a remote box via ssh somewhere and then download
it from there later.

I just tried getting the snapshot with sea monkey and doing it manually
and i get the following message below.

C:\Users\hurri\AppData\Local\Temp\1yjDH9cM.exe.part could not be saved,
because the source file could not be read.

Try again later, or contact the server administrator.

Even if it does start downloading it dies shortly after.

It seems to do it in all the browsers not download but other sites will
let me download stuff.

It is weird how some can get it and not others.

so am guessing now do i contact nvaccess since it is there server?

If not then its a routing issue to the servers from your location by the
sounds of it, but its very odd. Anyone else you know in your area who can
also try it? Might be good to see if its your end or in fact a widespread
issue.
I guess you could try some pings to the server address and see if the
round trip time or packet loss is unacceptable.

Hi Gene

No problems with the internet or going to the snapshots page etc it is
say when you go to either update the master snapshot through the help
section it goes up to the server and then you press the enter key on the
save one to download it it is just not downloading from there server that
way and even if you go to the main page where the snapshots are and click
on the file to download it you still get the same result. Some of the file
might come down maybe 400 k or so some times more but never the whole
program.

The anti virus is not stopping it either. I have also tried different
browsers still the same result.

It seems to be wanting me to retry the download all the time so is not
downloading from the snapshots page but no problems any where else for
downloading.

Hi guys

is the servers playing up? For the last couple of days i have been trying
to download a master snapshot and each time it comes down it is only about
540k. Is the server playing up? for when i go to click on it up comes a
security smart screen I think it is the windows one.

I am also wondering if things have changed like it is a stub then it gets
the main file? I am guessing not.

I usually like once a week to see what might of gone into it each week.

Has any one else had the same problems?

This was doing it from inside of the master snapshot under the help
section.

I have also tried it from the main page and still got the same results.

This was again on feb 18th and also tried on the 17th

But in terms of files such as audio files like MP3s, in Firefox,
once the file starts to play in the browser, you can save it by
issuing the command control s, then using the save as dialog that

Please explain what you want to do in detail so people can address

But
that doesn't matter in your case. You use XP and Google Chrome,

In addition, the settings, or almost all of them, I haven't

You have to do certain things to be able to work with some of them

as accessible as it should be but there is a difference between
accessibility and usability and a lot of programs are very usable,

and is very usable, though not completely everything is. But it's
usable enough so that almost everything desired can be done except
in the case of add ons which may not be accessible, but that's the
fault of the add on designer.

I'm going into all this mainly because your message may, if not

usable.

As far as playing audio files, Chrome does play audio. I don't

you are having problems with but please don't state things as

I'd have thought that there could be a way to back it all up, then put it back without doodling about, but maybe there is a way to do all that.

Hi,
I recently found out CodeFactory is selling a package containing Vocalizer expressive sapi voices that will work with any screen reader.
I am using it right now and have tested it with both Narrator and NVDA. So far, everything is working great.
I especially like the User dictionary.
Unlike the Vocalizer expressive and eloquence for NVDA, from what I've read, you can supposedly transfer your license from your old computer to a new one if it updates.
If any of you are interested, ATGuys is the one selling the product. It's 115 dollars, but keep in mind, it does allow you to use the voices with any screen reader. When you compare it to the Sapi voices for Acapela that cost 299 dollars, it's a pretty good deal.

Re: OEClassic gets an update fixing more accessibility issues

Gene

A Google search for OE Classic identities shows this article as the first result:

Yes, it has identities.  It doesn't say whether they are available in both the free and paid versions.

See this page, containing a table about features.  You can't read it using table commands but just down arrowing through it reads self-explanatory lines and it makes perfect sense and is in logical order.
Identities are only available in the pro version, which you must pay for.
Message rules are available in both versions.

I did some web crawling. The pro version has identities, so not sure if that
is something you want, but I would comb through all of their news section
( https://www.oeclassic.com/news ) to see what features have been added. The
free version is on 27 now. 28, the more accessible version, will be free
when the pro version shoots up to 29. I can wait. No big deal for me, but I
think it is a one time payment? And you get upgrades for life? I'll have to
look at the website again though.

Its a problem with the file normally. its probably been made with a different package. The problem is that the character nvda sees is not actually displayable so this is why its not actually 'seen' as such.

Not a lot one can do unless somebody at NV access can figure out what the character is which is coming out to the screenreader and mask it out somehow.

Subject: [nvda] a problem reading a pdf file

hi,

I have this problem in nvda with this pdf, but have experienced it on other files. Nvda, for some wierd reason, startsspliting words into lines in parts of the document. For instance, the word the is split as follows.

th

e

This occurs with large paragraphs of text. However, when selecting those so called lines, and pasting into word, they read just fine. Also, spelling with the left and right arrow spell fine. How do I fix this?

There is a suite  of accessible programs which are bundled with Webbie, and in this accessible suite is a PDF Reader.
