Re: espeak volume quite low

Brian's Mail list account <bglists@...>

It is true that some of the espeak voices sound quieter than others, but this effectively depends on the amount of energy allowed in the particular band in question.
When I wrote quincy, I deliberately made it a little quieter as people complained the original which has a lot of bass, was rattling their laptops!

I don't think that will solve the volume problem. Why should one voice be at a different volume when the same synthesizer is being used.

I don't have Windows 10 but this command should open Windows volume settings for play.
Hold the Windows key and type r. Release both keys. The run dialog will open.
type sndvol and press enter.
Tab around and see if NVDA is listed in the volume settings. Can you raise it?

When finished, close the utility with alt f4. There is no ok button. When you right arrow to raise the volume or left arrow to lower the volume settings take immediate effect. That allows you to hear the changes as you make them.

Yes, but if the subject is NVDA-related in terms of using it in some way, on list is what should be used.  If you have questions about the topic we are discussing, I know nothing more about it than what I stated and I have no more conjectures on the subject.

Re: espeak volume quite low

Gene

Re: nvda-down arrow not working on web

Gene

NVDA uses the numpad for other things.  I don't recall how the manual worded the command but it probably just said down arrow.  Don't assume other commands can be used or if you try a variation and it doesn't work, always try the other if there are two choices.

Using the desktop layout  press insert on numpad and down arrow on
numpad, and it read one line.  Maybe I have to use the regular insert
instead?

Bear in mind that you need to activate the primary cursor down arrow,
and, not the numpad down arrow/number 2 key, like in another
screenreader to invoke read all from current position.

Hi. I am fairly new to nvda, so please bear with me.

I was reading the user guide and it said if there was a cursor then I
could use nvda-downarrow to read continuously. Now, I thought this
would work in reading the user guide itself, but it only read one
line. Am I missing a setting or does this not work on the web. I am
using internet explorer and Windows 10 Fall Creators update.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I don't know what they recommend, but I just usually deactivate when performing a major update just on the safe side.

No, the sapi package does not include Eloquence. However, you can buy the eloquence package for sixty-nine dollars.

Like I saod before, supposedly with the Sapi voices you can transfer the license. I'm just not sure how to do it.

More information -- if I go into the speakers, I can raise the volume
of the voice and it stays -- I don't know if it will stay across
reboots, but its working for now.

a number of years, the implementation of the display of documents in Persian

Adobe started following sanctions, work on the implementation of that

true for Firefox as well. Also, I'm not sure what you want to do.
You appear to want to be able to save multimedia files without them

Chrome or Firefox. As I said, there may be ways to do these things
you don't know about in both browsers even if there are no

tried to save those filetypes..
But in terms of files such as audio files like MP3s, in Firefox,
once the file starts to play in the browser, you can save it by
issuing the command control s, then using the save as dialog that
opens. I wouldn't be surprised if that is true in Chrome as well.

Please explain what you want to do in detail so people can address it.

You may want to live in the technological past indefinitely but you
can't unless you want to be increasingly unable to do things you do

Chrome automatically updates.
But
that doesn't matter in your case. You use XP and Google Chrome,
the browser, hasn't been updated for XP for perhaps almost a year.
In addition, the settings, or almost all of them, I haven't

You have to do certain things to be able to work with some of them
such as manually turn off and on browse mode. The program isn't
as accessible as it should be but there is a difference between
accessibility and usability and a lot of programs are very usable,
even though not fully accessible. Chrome is largely accessible
and is very usable, though not completely everything is. But it's
usable enough so that almost everything desired can be done except
in the case of add ons which may not be accessible, but that's the
fault of the add on designer.

I'm going into all this mainly because your message may, if not
discussed, mslead others into believing Chrome is not usable and
is not reasonably accessible. I don't particularly like the
interface but the program is reasonably accessible and quite
usable.

As far as playing audio files, Chrome does play audio. I don't
know if it plays what you are trying to play. I don't know what
you are having problems with but please don't state things as
