Windows 10 detected of virus in Virtual Recorder
Robert Mendoza
Early this morning when I am about to run the Virtual recorder and haven't use it for awhile the Windows Defender of my Windows 10 detected that there is a virus that's need to be scanned offline. not sure what happened but before the same program has been used with no problem for couple of months ago. Any thought or experience for this. Thanks.

Re: Firefox ESR
Antony Stone
"ESR" means Extended Support Release.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
Every now and then, a Firefox release is labeled as ESR, and it means they promise to support it for longer than the other in-between releases. There is no reason to switch from a standard release to an ESR release unless: a) you like always running the latest release, and the ESR release is the latest one or b) you are currently running a no-longer-supported release, you don't want to update to the latest release, but there's an ESR release somewhere in between which you are happy with. Basically, do not run unsupported software. If security vulnerabilities are discovered, you may well run into problems and they will be nobody else's fault. So, either run a recent (supported) standard version, or run an ESR version (which may be older, but has support for longer), but either way, update before that version becomes unsupported. The above is true for all software, not just Firefox. Not all projects have ESR versions, but many do - some are known as LTR - Long Term Release. Antony.

Re: Recommendations of Win10 + NVDA Apps and Settings?
Actually I ever saw it, maybe my mail program was acting up. I saw somethingn about settings at the top then the footer. That's when I quit readiing as I skim read all of my emails, plus I had to either go to teach a class or go to bed that day.

Re: espeak volume quite low

I saw Brian's comments about Quincy being softer
and I checked. it's a little softer but not much. I don't think that
small difference in volume is what is being asked about.
Gene
----- Original Message -----
I don't think that will solve the volume
problem. Why should one voice be at a different volume when the same
synthesizer is being used.
I don't have Windows 10 but this command should
open Windows volume settings for play.
Hold the Windows key and type r. Release both
keys. The run dialog will open.
type sndvol and press enter.
Tab around and see if NVDA is listed in the volume
settings. Can you raise it?
When finished, close the utility with alt f4.
There is no ok button. When you right arrow to raise the volume or left
arrow to lower the volume settings take immediate effect. That allows you
to hear the changes as you make them.

Hi all,
The currently used espeak ng has a bug in the german language. The bug has been fixed and espeak ng should be updated to latest master. haven't opened a ticket yet because i thought i'll not make to much noise about it. though i can open a ticket as well if the devs prefer that. Re: nvda-down arrow not working on web

It would help us all if you could check which keyboard layout is being used in nvda As that will affect the answer
So I guess it would help us all if you could confirm which keyboard layout you are using under nvda preferences > Keyboard settings ? keyboard layout

Bear in mind that you need to activate the primary cursor down arrow, and, not the numpad down arrow/number 2 key, like in another screenreader to invoke read all from current position.

From memory, I seem to recall that the new version of this software came along when the add on was being written, and I do not recall if the problems had gone away or got worse. Did I not also see that there is an online and a stand alone version now?

It is true that some of the espeak voices sound quieter than others, but this effectively depends on the amount of energy allowed in the particular band in question.
