All of these can also be found on community add-ons website (https://addons.nvda-project.org). StationPlaylist and Windows 10 App Essentials support add-on update feature, and updates for these will go live shortly.

Highlights:

GoldWave and Resource Monitor: localization updates.

StationPlaylist Studio: numerous issues when working with time-based broadcast profiles were addressed.

Windows 10 App Essentials: in Windows 10 Fall Creators Update and later, NVDA will announce various notifications including those found in Microsoft Edge, Microsoft Store, Calculator, Alarms and Clock and other apps. Also, NVDA will track these events and print debug information if NVDA is started/restarted with debug logging enabled.

as far as i know i have not heard of one.
There under the add on manager section after installing golden cursor locate the add on in the list then tab to the help button. There will be all the commands on how to use this add on.
Just break it down into small section to see which shortcuts do what. It is a neat little add on you can drive the cursor with the arrow keys and alot more as you will find out when having a play.

I get this all the time in word. I have a feeling its nvda hooking into
something making it think something has changed, for example. I create a
word document, I save it, I then go to exit word and it says the text has
changed do I want to save it again so to speak. Not every time, but enough
to be annoying.

It depends on the board in question.

Here are a few.

Toshiba.

Download the updater for your unit if its still about you need its part number, and well get the update, download, run, reboot you're done.

Hp, using your serial number found from support assistant, download the eufi diagnostics, intel firmware updates and bios, run all of them.

For most of them run and install on hard drive and they work.

Bios is a bit tricky, you will have to doodle about with nvda and narator to find the right button, alt u should update the bios then wait, till ready.

restart, and wait till it restarts 3-5 times then it will be updated.

Asus, the updater is completely inaccessible, for my workstation I had to get the mutherboard frombelarc adviser which meant I needed to go to belarc.com and install that.

Then I needed to search on the asus support site for the update, get the .cap file, rename the file to bios.cap, download the 4th gen updater, for win8 and download that.

Then using 7zip extract it, go to the tools folder, find the batch file, and change the name to bios.cap, put the cap file in the tools folder, run the batch file, wait for the window to close then reboot.

azrock.

Download the update, run and hit yes.

Different ways and you can also do it from multitudes of updaters, and inside bios with sight etc.

When you update your bios you will need a sightling in some cases to check that all your settings work as the system goes to bios, some bioses require you to like asus hit f5 for defaults then save.

Azrock I booted and I just hit f1 on a ps2 board and it worked.

Laptops they just worked all I tried.

But its best you do it yourself as in some situations it was really complicated.

If you screw it all up you will have to take your system back to the store, they will replace your main board at cost, do a reformat and then you probably will need to get a different serial and maybe a new version of windows probably or if the system is out of date you will have to buy another probably havn't bricked one.

Actually I tell a lie bricked a bios on a router by doing it wrong.

I had to buy another isp router and it took ages for them to get working again.

last year...
Tony, I think it was you who, amongst other things, suggested to try and
update the BIOS.

After tens of different and useless attempts to find out what software
or hardware component caused the blocking, my husband finally looked for
a newer version of the bios and found it.
He updated it and... LO AND BEHOLD! Now I have the latest Windows version!

Thanks to you all, really, from the bottom of my heart.

We had given up, but Windows had starte nagging me ove the last few
weeks, attempting to update at least 20 times a day... So it was time to
do something serious about it, and here we are!

The following advisory is considered major in that it impacts all known
screen readers )except for one or two; feel free to pass this on, although
please do cite where you've got the advisory from):


Problem: notifications from apps such as Calculator, Microsoft Store and
others are not announced by screen readers.


Background: in Windows 10 Version 1709 and later, if apps are written
correctly, they can send notification texts to be announced by screen
readers. A UIA client such as a screen reader must be able to catch this in
order to announce certain notifications, including Calculator's display
window, app update status in Microsoft Store, various notifications from
Edge, Alarms and Clock and other apps.


Steps to reproduce:


1. While using Windows 10 Version 1709 or later (including current
Insider Preview builds), launch an app such as Alarms and Clock (be sure it
is the latest version).
2. In case of Alarms and Clock, go to Stopwatch tab and start and stop
the stopwatch.
3. For Calculator, do some calculations.


Expected: screen reader announces messages such as "Stopwatch stopped" in
Alarms and Clock and "display is something" in Calculator.

Actual: only Narrator announces such texts.

Cause: other screen readers do not track UIA notification event. This is due
to the fact that Version 1709 introduces this event, which requires tracking
a newer UIA interface.


Known solutions/mitigations/workarounds and impact:


* Narrator: green light/okay; works out of the box (requires Version
1709 and later).
* JAWS for Windows: red light/major; no support (version 2018.1802.78
did not solve the Calculator display text problem, for instance).
* NonVisual Desktop Access: yellow light/solution being tested
(through an add-on update).


This advisory will be closed once major screen readers (in addition to the
three listed above) provides at least a basic solution.

Hi Zahra,

It looks like when the work was done (to address those issues), it was
planned for 2017.4. Any code which gets submitted by anyone, even
in-house, needs to be reviewed or checked over by someone else. It looks
like that review wasn't done as quickly as initially anticipated, so they
didn't make it in to 2017.4.

Hi everyone,



The following advisory is considered major in that it impacts all known
screen readers )except for one or two; feel free to pass this on, although
please do cite where you've got the advisory from):



Problem: notifications from apps such as Calculator, Microsoft Store and
others are not announced by screen readers.



Background: in Windows 10 Version 1709 and later, if apps are written
correctly, they can send notification texts to be announced by screen
readers. A UIA client such as a screen reader must be able to catch this
in
order to announce certain notifications, including Calculator's display
window, app update status in Microsoft Store, various notifications from
Edge, Alarms and Clock and other apps.



Steps to reproduce:



1. While using Windows 10 Version 1709 or later (including current
Insider Preview builds), launch an app such as Alarms and Clock (be sure
it
is the latest version).
2. In case of Alarms and Clock, go to Stopwatch tab and start and stop
the stopwatch.
3. For Calculator, do some calculations.



Expected: screen reader announces messages such as "Stopwatch stopped" in
Alarms and Clock and "display is something" in Calculator.

Actual: only Narrator announces such texts.

Cause: other screen readers do not track UIA notification event. This is
due
to the fact that Version 1709 introduces this event, which requires
tracking
a newer UIA interface.



Known solutions/mitigations/workarounds and impact:



* Narrator: green light/okay; works out of the box (requires Version
1709 and later).
* JAWS for Windows: red light/major; no support (version 2018.1802.78
did not solve the Calculator display text problem, for instance).
* NonVisual Desktop Access: yellow light/solution being tested
(through an add-on update).



This advisory will be closed once major screen readers (in addition to the
three listed above) provides at least a basic solution.

Hi

as far as i know i have not heard of one.

There under the add on manager section after installing golden cursor locate the add on in the list then tab to the help button. There will be all the commands on how to use this add on.

Just break it down into small section to see which shortcuts do what. It is a neat little add on you can drive the cursor with the arrow keys and alot more as you will find out when having a play.
