Brian's Mail list account <bglists@...>

It was very slow though. i can recall the old hotmail taking ages to download.
I sufggest that if Google and other webmail vendors would stop messing with their web interfaces simply for the sake of it somebody could easily make a client to make it independent of the web site.
Sadly the companies seem intent on reinventing wheels all the time.

Well My issue is that on web not all messages get displayed if I download via pop/imap I seem to get more messages even if there is only 1 page of messages I tend to get a lot more messages on pop/imap.

I have been using pop my entire life.

The only reason I switched my dad to imap was that he had 2 devices, an ios and a pc and wanted to sync.

I am unsure even if I get an iphone or something if I'd ever use it for email though not at first.

You can't pop secure your gmail though, once you switch to imap and secure it you can just use pop again.

Its a pitty that you can't just process web directly like they used to do with ms outlook express and old hotmail addresses before microsoft screwed that up.

Ok, I assume like me you use pop and not imap.

First you will need to clear all your gmail accounts and other things from thunderbird.

You next create your account as usual and set imap.

Then at some point google will ask you to login and put up a brouser window.

Login and click allow and then its connected.

You can clear imap and switch back to pop if you want.

I found that out the hard way when email stopped.

Hi,
after a bit of testing, I seems a bit of Microsoft Word VBA macors can solve some problems.

What I'd like to ask at this point of research, is if possible to have this feature into NVDA:
- The "Backspace" button stop the voice. Is it possible to have an option which allow "Backspace" button to not stop the voice? Similar to the option for the "Enter" key, under the keyboard settings?

In this video I explain a bit more in detail the reason:

Re: Moving focus to where one needs to be rather than just the PC cursor position

Gene

Also, this is being presented without a very important option being discussed.  When you are in object navigation review mode, using the default setting, the object navigator automatically follows the cursor or the position in browse mode.  You don't have to use any move object navigator to current object command in these cases, except in rare instances when a program doesn't allow the object navigator to follow the cursor.  This is just one more reason that I strongly maintain that you should be automatically placed in object review when you leave any window and move to another one.  Who knows how many users have needless problems because this isn't done and they don't know that to have proper tracking, they must use object navigation.

Re: Moving focus to where one needs to be rather than just the PC cursor position

Gene

That isn't the number four.  It's the word for, spelled f o r.  When people write instructions,  be mindful of how things may not be clear in speech.  Numpad plus four sounds as though it could be either numpad plus and the number four or just keypad plus.  In this case, the command is just numpad plus, pressed by itself.

Re: NVDA doesn't work with bandcamp web site

Gene

Generalizing from a sample of one or two and stating an erroneous conclusion as a fact when it isn't.  Five or six people have said that the method works.  It doesn't work in your case, or we should say, something doesn't work in your case.  It may have nothing to do with this method not working.  it may be a problem you are having because the audio itself isn't playing for some reason.

This procedure or other procedures than just using space bar or enter on such buttons is common enough that it is necessary to know it and to try it.  It often works or other methods may work when the first preferred methods don't.  I wouldn't have been able to listen to audio or videos on many sites if I didn't use this method.

No I gave up as well, very touchy indeed on keyboards.
Maybe needs some kind of special nav mode in nvda for this type of control.

Hi Hank,

Numpad Plus does a say all with the review cursor (with desktop keyboard
layout). NVDA+numpad plus doesn't do anything (to my knowledge).

NVDA+numpad Enter (in desktop keyboard layout) will activate the current
object, so there are various ways to get to a particular object, using any
of the object navigation commands.

Kind regards

Quentin.

Actually, since I had neither windows or a full sized keyboard available, I actually made a mistake in confusing the "/" and the "*" on the numpad.

In any case, I believe everybody on list should now be able to do this. Also, for those still reading, I believe what causes issues like this is when the developer uses a onMouseUp or on MouseDown handler instead of a onClick handler.

On 3/5/18, 1:00 PM, "nvda@nvda.groups.io on behalf of JM Casey" <nvda@nvda.groups.io on behalf of crystallogic@...> wrote:

I am also using Firefox, and the method John described should work for you. Hit "b" until you get to the play/pause button (or use another method). Route your mouse cursor with NVDA-numpad slash. Hit numpad slash. The button should click. If you are still on it with the mouse cursor, it's a toggle, so pressing / again will pause it.

I have had limited success in Firefox. The way I got it to work was by selecting the button and tapping on my touchpad. I could not get any keyboard commands to work. It may be user error, but only the tap on the mousepad was repeatable.

I could not get it to play in google chrome.

No I gave up as well, very touchy indeed on keyboards.
Maybe needs some kind of special nav mode in nvda for this type of control.

Yeah, I'm noticing the same thing, and am stuck.
It is working with JAWS 18.
On my old machine I could never get the bandcamp player to play either.

If there's no solution to this, we should probably bring this up with
Bandcamp support.

Is defined on Google docs. If you see the google docs help, you will see that they recomend to change some default keys, for example the NVDA starting key to avoid conflicts with docs.

One assumes this should not clash with keybooard shortcuts or are people going to have to find another shortcut for any program that launches via the shortcut in question?

Hello Mary and all,

Google Docs works fine with Firefox ESR and NVDA.

Did you activate screen reader support in pressing ctrl+alt+Z?

If so, NVDA should announce that screen reader support is enabled.

If you want to write in the document, mae sure that forms mode is on in
pressing nvda+space. You should then be able to use your keystrokes.

I hope this helps.

Best

I have a Windows 10 machine with the latest released version of NVDA and Firefox ESR version. I am able to read a Google document but I can’t interact with it. That is the arrow keys don’t talk, and I am unable to copy text from the document in order to paste it into Duxberry to print it out. Is there a key or a clue to working better with Google Docs in this combination? I suppose chrome would work better, but I have that’s far less than impressed with chrome. I don’t really feel like learning another web browser if I don’t have to. Besides, I get these Google doc link in my email, and fire fox is my default web browser. So even if I wanted to try chrome, I’m not sure how I would do that given the fact that I’m not willing to change my default browser to chrome.

Or is it like a mail provider? like outlook.com or gmail?

It may just be a matter of getting the email settings then entering them into thunder bird.

Hi.  go to tools/account settings.  Tab once to the "Accounts action Menu" button.  Press the space bar.  Here you can set up all sorts of accounts, but what you would be interested in is to add a new account, so arrow down to "Add Mail Account".  Press enter on that.  Now fill in your details in the appropriate edit fields like name, email address, which in your case should be *@gmail.com, for example, and don't forget to enter your password.   These edit fields can be accessed by tabbing through the interface.  once finished,  hit the "continue button" then tab to the "Done" button and press the space bar to activate it, and tb will do the rest.  Cheers!

Oh ok. That same thing happened to me just recently. I'm using outlook
2010. I had to do the same thing. I found that out the hard way too just
recently. I don't use thunder bird. Thanks for your help. I'll pass it onto

The person who's helping uses windows ten. Would that be a problem. Cause
she's using jaws 18 and so does this other person. The person who's needing
the help is using windows 7.

Ok, I assume like me you use pop and not imap.

First you will need to clear all your gmail accounts and other things from
thunderbird.

You next create your account as usual and set imap.

Then at some point google will ask you to login and put up a brouser window.

Login and click allow and then its connected.

You can clear imap and switch back to pop if you want.

I found that out the hard way when email stopped.

Hi everyone,

If you are using StationPlaylist Studio 5.0x and/or are currently using Windows XP, Vista or 7 without Service Pack 1, please listen up:

SPL add-on 15.14-LTS is now available. As stated not long ago, this is the last release in the 15.x series (no more 15.x after this unless a really critical problem is found). Complete support for 15.x will end on April 30, 2018.

For people set to receive LTS updates automatically, 15.14-LTS is now ready to be downloaded and installed. For those who’d like to keep this version for future use or can’t use online update method, the direct link is:

http://github.com/josephsl/stationPlaylist/releases/download/18.03/stationPlaylist-15.14-lts.nvda-addon

Thank you.
