Huh. What's this about Mutorrent? What a shame as I just got it working nicely the other week (thanks again). Is this a new development?

Subject: [nvda] Tips on using QBittorrent?

Hi all. Apparently MuTorrent has security issues, and a place recommended QBittorrent as an alternative. I downloaded it, since people said it was accessible. Anybody have tips on using it? For example, I downloaded something, but I can't find the file on the screen to do anything with it, e.g. see how far the download is, delete the file/torrent if I don't want it anymore, and so on. I managed to get through the options, although a warning, if you get into advanced you'll get stuck, I can't see any way back to the tree and the OK button and so on. I mean I got it to work as a thing that will open and download torrents which is OK I guess, but I'd like a little more control, if this thing is supposedly accessible. Right now I have no idea how to tell it to get rid of a torrent, or to stop seeding it, or get rid of the files associated with it, see the download speed and progress, you know, the kinds of things you typically want to do with torrents.

But object navigation? Not flat navigation.

However, for example, as an starting point, locate with "tab" the "state" verification box, move the object navigator to the previows object with NVDA numpad 4 (or the equivalent in laptop mode) move the object navigator to the first child object with NVDA numpad 2, move to the next object with NVDA numpad 6 until you arribe to the tree, move the navigator with NVDA numpad 2 and explore it with previows and next object.

Note that in the latest next branch the navigator fail in the tree, but it works in the latest stable version (I don't know in RC).

mk.

I sufggest that if Google and other webmail vendors would stop messing with their web interfaces simply for the sake of it somebody could easily make a client to make it independent of the web site.
Sadly the companies seem intent on reinventing wheels all the time.

Well My issue is that on web not all messages get displayed if I download via pop/imap I seem to get more messages even if there is only 1 page of messages I tend to get a lot more messages on pop/imap.

I have been using pop my entire life.

The only reason I switched my dad to imap was that he had 2 devices, an ios and a pc and wanted to sync.

I am unsure even if I get an iphone or something if I'd ever use it for email though not at first.

You can't pop secure your gmail though, once you switch to imap and secure it you can just use pop again.

Its a pitty that you can't just process web directly like they used to do with ms outlook express and old hotmail addresses before microsoft screwed that up.

Ok, I assume like me you use pop and not imap.

First you will need to clear all your gmail accounts and other things from thunderbird.

You next create your account as usual and set imap.

Then at some point google will ask you to login and put up a brouser window.

Login and click allow and then its connected.

You can clear imap and switch back to pop if you want.

I found that out the hard way when email stopped.

after a bit of testing, I seems a bit of Microsoft Word VBA macors can solve some problems.

What I'd like to ask at this point of research, is if possible to have this feature into NVDA:
- The "Backspace" button stop the voice. Is it possible to have an option which allow "Backspace" button to not stop the voice? Similar to the option for the "Enter" key, under the keyboard settings?

In this video I explain a bit more in detail the reason:

Re: Moving focus to where one needs to be rather than just the PC cursor position

Gene

Also, this is being presented without a very important option being discussed.  When you are in object navigation review mode, using the default setting, the object navigator automatically follows the cursor or the position in browse mode.  You don't have to use any move object navigator to current object command in these cases, except in rare instances when a program doesn't allow the object navigator to follow the cursor.  This is just one more reason that I strongly maintain that you should be automatically placed in object review when you leave any window and move to another one.  Who knows how many users have needless problems because this isn't done and they don't know that to have proper tracking, they must use object navigation.

In keypad plus for say all its useful as it does not move the cursor as it

Re: Moving focus to where one needs to be rather than just the PC cursor position

Gene

That isn't the number four.  It's the word for, spelled f o r.  When people write instructions,  be mindful of how things may not be clear in speech.  Numpad plus four sounds as though it could be either numpad plus and the number four or just keypad plus.  In this case, the command is just numpad plus, pressed by itself.

Re: NVDA doesn't work with bandcamp web site

Gene

Generalizing from a sample of one or two and stating an erroneous conclusion as a fact when it isn't.  Five or six people have said that the method works.  It doesn't work in your case, or we should say, something doesn't work in your case.  It may have nothing to do with this method not working.  it may be a problem you are having because the audio itself isn't playing for some reason.

This procedure or other procedures than just using space bar or enter on such buttons is common enough that it is necessary to know it and to try it.  It often works or other methods may work when the first preferred methods don't.  I wouldn't have been able to listen to audio or videos on many sites if I didn't use this method.

No I gave up as well, very touchy indeed on keyboards.
Maybe needs some kind of special nav mode in nvda for this type of control.
