How can I contribute to pronounciation corrections in eSpeak NG which is bulit in NVDA

Dejan Ristic

Hi once more,

I would like to contribute to the NVDA Project by correcting mispronounciations occurring in NVDA.

I do it in the NVDA speech dictionary.

For example: the word eschaton is mispronounced, although it is written correctly.

To fix the mispronounciation, I write it thus: escaton. When I enter it in either default or voice dictionary in the replacement fields, it sounds perfect. But, It is done only for me. I would gladly accept whatever I can do both for me and for you!

The main question is:

How can I contribute to the project so that any next release might contain pronounciation corrections?

Notes:

Firstly, I am not a programmer.

Secondly, I've made over a hundred pronounciation corrections which I would like to share with you.

Lastly, I would like to do it as far as British English is concerned.

Hopefully, your instructions as to my contributions will not be difficult for me to understand and apply.

Thankful to you,

Dejan

Hello,

may be this topic was already discussed but anyway... I was not regular fb user but now I must learn it as much as possible due to job reasons. I use Firefox with NVDA as my combination of web browser and screen reader.
can anyone help me with materials, from which I could learn or give me tips and treacks how to mension someone/fb page, how to tag someone, how to manage a fb page/ community effectively etc.
any suggestion will be appreciated.

kind regards, Jožef

the program I have now installed is malware bytes. I've forgotten the name of what program malware bytes found and quarantined but it was something involving Monster.

Before trying malware bytes I downlaoded and used adwcleaner which did remove some identified nasties but not whatever was hijacking my Firefox.

Thanks all for the suggestions :)

I have actually managed to remove this malware by totally uninstalling

the Firefox installer again using Internet Explorer. I have also installed
Malaware free trial version and that did pick some unwanted malwares up and
remove them, so any traces have hopefully been cleaned :)

My Firefox is 59.0 and my thunderbird is 52.60.

This is my wife's computer, so I don't use it every day.

It worked fine some days ago, the only thing that happend recently was

So I don't understand the problem, except if something particular

Here we go again. If you can, get hold of the latest next snap and run it as a portable. See if things work in that after a system restart. There is also a tool in there for fixing these sort of things, but as you say it may well need sight to invoke it to start with. Preferably do not install this version use it portably, but turn uac down.

Re: IRC, instructions on how to use, and NVDA accessibility

JM Casey <crystallogic@...>

Hi.

I used to use IRC a lot, and still do occasionally. As I’m a new-ish user of nVDA though, I haven’t yet tried it with this screen-reader. You can download the client MIRC for Windows. It works fairly well with JAWWS, and because I haven’t used any specific scripts for it or anything, I’m guessing it will work with NVDA as well. I have yet to try it, like I said; MIRC is finally for the first time demanding that I  register and buy the product (after eighteen + years of ignoring the message to register .. no kidding) I just haven’t gotten around to it yet.

The help system in MIRC is quite good. You can do all commands from the keyboard with the / prefix. Channels and private chat and file transfers all have their own  windows in the program, which you can access from the keyboard. In channels where there is a lot of traffic, you might have trouble keeping up as text scrolls on the screen really quickly. You can set things like audio alerts to announce events within the program. All in all, although I’m not the IRC user I once was (mostly because my favourite haunts largely went silent), it’s still my favourite method of internet chat, and of course you can use it for other things as well.

Hi. Don’t know if Joseph or someone else can do this, but could some create a Github issue for the following. I’d like to see if NVDA with MS Edge can recognize visited links by pressing V like IE 11 and Firefox. Every time I hit V on a sites where I know I’ve visited links NVDA just say not supported in this document. I love Edge, but this would help loads. Thanks.

Hi,

Nothing works (arrows, numbers to navigate across headers, h, l, etc).

I'm using Windows 7, NVDA 2018.1 and Firefox 59.0, all 32 bits.

So, I had to reinstall Firefox 52 ESR.

Someone else can confirm this problem?

Hi. I came across this very interesting vedio on YOUTUBe. Just as Apple and Google have made their operating systems free on their devices, so does Microsoft intend to do the same, though it was relatively slow to catch up with it's two rivals. Of course, Google and Apple profit by other means, so will Microsoft. Also, From this video, Windows will soon concentrate on a feature known as Virtual reality. How far it will affect Accessibility, I leave you to judge for yourselves. Here is the video link.
