Thank you for getting back to me.  Here is what I did.  I went to the link in the e mail and opened the web page.  I then used the h command to go to the in process heading.  I then used the say all command to read the newsletter.  When it got to the bulleted list is where it started repeating.  I hope this is clear.  Thanks again for your response.

Could you describe what you are doing and when the problem occurs?

NVDA reads all English in English and reads all Chinese in Chinese. The Chinese writing appears only in the NVDA which prevents me from understanding the words for me to change the settings

I'm not really sure what you mean here.
Aware you saying that its set to chinese, and trying to read English as if it were Chinese?
The language setting must have been tweaked for this. Look in the preferences and see what its actually set to. Normally its system default, which is usually what it says it is, the language windows uses.

We need a little more information before this can be answered.

 

  1. Are you hearing Chinese or do you see Chinese like characters in a window you associate with NVDA?
  2. What OS Version are you running?
  3. If you use JAWS or Narrator do you experience Chinese there also?
  4. Do you see these characters in all applications or in just specific ones. NVDA has a very small set of Windows it directly provides?
  5. Do you have any idea what the Language settings are on your computer?

If Chrome uses browsing history to determine visited links, then if you clear it, if  you use visited links in navigation, they will no longer be available.  Also, if you constantly clear browsing history, you'd better hope you never want to return to a site you didn't book mark and don't have the address for.  You may well be able to find the site with a google search or in some other way, but browsing history is an important feature. 
 
Sometimes, stopping a problem is worse than having the problem.

This is what I found on a forum site:

1. Go to the Chrome menu on the browser toolbar
2. Activate Settings
3. Activate Show advanced settings
4. In the Privacy section, deselect the "Use a prediction service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar" checkbox

Keep in mind that the address bar shows matches from your browsing history, in addition to predictions. If you don't want to see matches from your browsing history, you must clear that as well.
Beyond that there is nothing more you can do. It is either all or nothing. You cannot modify the behavior of how you dismiss suggestions. Suggestions and autocomplete are the same service.

In addition, someone mentioned that it was apain to have to clear browsing history all the time to stop the auto-complete behaviour and suggested using incognito mode which doesn't preserve browsing history.

How fast are you typing?  If you either type quickly or turn off speech, you
won't hear anything.  You likely know this but do you know that anytime you
want to interrupt speech, you can just keep typing anywhere?  You will
probably get a solution but I'm discussing this as a general principle.  I
never bother with such settings because I type fast enough that I don't hear
such information but if I ever start to hear it, maybe because I'm typing
more slowly, I just keep typing.

The issue is that ALL the writing exclusively in the menus of NVDA are in this foreign language. NVDA reads all the English on my computer in English but the menus of NVDA cannot be read, at least not to my understanding. This is why I am unable to change the language to English as I can not read or understand any of it.

To set nvda to English, Open general settings in nvda nvda+ctrl+G

You will then be in a combo box for language

So if you press the letter E then English will be selected in the combo box

Then hit ok then nvda will be in English

Thanks for your explanation.  But it doesn't address the complaint.
 
The complaint said that there is an additional g sound where two words such as ing case are spoken.  As to the n sounding different in a word like sing, I agree.
 
I don't have a way to try the latest NVDA to hear the speech so I don't know if this problem has been completely eliminated.  I understand there is a SAPI 5 version.  Does that version contain the latest code?

An "n" sound is made by touching the front of your tongue to the front of your mouth, but before a "k" or "g" sound (especially when done quickly), your tongue moves to the back of your mouth in preparation of making the "k" or "g" sound, so that "n" has a different sound to things like "no", or "none".

This is a process called velarization.

The current way Espeak ng processes velarisation puts too much emphasis on
it. Any word ending with an "N" that precedes one starting with a hard "g"
or "c" sounds as if there is an extra "g" at the end of it before the next
word begins. "Ing case", "wung game" "cang get", etc.
The last time I brought up this issue, I was told this is how these words
sound when spoken by humans, but I would disagree. Not to say this doesn't
happen, but it isn't lingered over the way it is in the current release of
Espeak ng. In previous versions, the transitions between these words sounded
natural enough to my ears, and this version over-emphasises the velarisation
to the point of it being unnatural.
(Note: I do not type "one" like that, but I had to alter spellings to
simulate the pronunciation issue as clearly as possible to another blind
person.)

Well its worth noting that on my win7 system you don't seem to get it at all.

In win10 2017.9 you do, I assume that its os spaciffic or something anyway 2018.1.1 is only needed on win10.

This causes OneCore synthesizer to sound a bit funny, including higher pitch. NV Access has just released a release candidate for NVDA 2018.1.1 which will correct this problem. Because of this, you need to be running 2018.1.1 for best experience with Windows 10 Version 1803.

The latest realtech drivers are on windows update, you can try the official broken 2.82 drivers from realtech's site, ms will not install over the top of official drivers.

You can try other versions 2.81, 2.80, 2.78.

This causes OneCore synthesizer to sound a bit funny, including higher pitch. NV Access has just released a release candidate for NVDA 2018.1.1 which will correct this problem. Because of this, you need to be running 2018.1.1 for best experience with Windows 10 Version 1803.

Hi all, since installing via the updater of version 18.1 and the current 18.1.1 the ability to load and unload keys of alt and ctrl plus n does not seem to work. Has this changed as when I open insert 1 to open help to determine what key does what, it does not appear to be there either. Joe

If the claim is being made as reported in the below message, it is not partly or marginally incorrect, it is completely incorrect.  In two words like can get, the n is held and the g is smoothly spoken at the instant the n sound is ended.  There is no additional g nor even a hint of one.  And that's the way things are generally. 
It is not an additional "g", it is the "n" sound before a "k" or "g" in words like "sing", "king", and "sink". Within words, this process happens naturally. Across words, that process may happen (especially when the words are spoken quickly, or with little pause between them).

Specifically, the "k" and "g" sounds are made by moving the back of your tongue to the back of your mouth (the velum). An "n" sound is made by touching the front of your tongue to the front of your mouth, but before a "k" or "g" sound (especially when done quickly), your tongue moves to the back of your mouth in preparation of making the "k" or "g" sound, so that "n" has a different sound to things like "no", or "none".

This is a process called velarization.

I've brought this up before as well, but I want to do so again here, in less
abrasive language.
The current way Espeak ng processes velarisation puts too much emphasis on
it. Any word ending with an "N" that precedes one starting with a hard "g"
or "c" sounds as if there is an extra "g" at the end of it before the next
word begins. "Ing case", "wung game" "cang get", etc.
The last time I brought up this issue, I was told this is how these words
sound when spoken by humans, but I would disagree. Not to say this doesn't
happen, but it isn't lingered over the way it is in the current release of
Espeak ng. In previous versions, the transitions between these words sounded
natural enough to my ears, and this version over-emphasises the velarisation
to the point of it being unnatural.
(Note: I do not type "one" like that, but I had to alter spellings to
simulate the pronunciation issue as clearly as possible to another blind
person.)

Things I've moaned about like offen instead of often keep coming back as
well, now this  person knows the right term to use for the issue they are
raising but mnay of us would not know how to actually describe it, and I
feel that is part of the issue when reporting oddities and getting ehem
fixed.

some of the comments I've seen on here to the right people to get them put

SPL is used by broadcasters for broadcasting shows online. You don't need
this program unless you are a broadcaster.
