I would think the best thing to do as far as making the file available, is to copy the .dic file to another location on your computer.  If it's the default.dic file, that may be it's name.  I've almost never done this and others may be able to tell you where it is.  Then you could send it somewhere such as to a Drop Box folder or to someone who will place it on their web site, such as the other Gene.

automatically exchange pronounciation corrections. That's one way of how
eSpeak NG speech may be updated without wating any next release to launch.


If I'm supposed to send the mentioned document to an admin in a private
message so that it may be reviewed, I'm glad to obey the rule. If I'm
supposed to mention this topic no longer, I shall obey that rule, too.

I tried to reproduce also but was unable to get a list of items to read the items twice. I probably should know this but were the list items also links?

 

I believe that NVDA does on occasion set focus to the location of the browse mode cursor and I am wondering if perhaps that might have caused double speak. I did also try routing the mouse to the list I was viewing and that also did not cause additional speech though I would have expected possibly a bit more speech than I encountered.

 

I did also notice that at least in some cases if you request the next list in Edge  with the “L” keystroke that NVDA will sometimes read every item in the list. I don’t believe this is the behavior in other browsers.

I just reproduced the steps you described.
I looked for the beginning of the newsletter in pressing the H key.
Then NVDA started reading.
When it came to "heading 3 New Features"
NVDA started to announce there was a list with 7 items.
Nested lists were also read correctly.
So I don't understand what can go wrong with your experience.
Pressing l to reach this list let NVDA read the list, but nothing is repeated.
So I am sorry I cannot help more.
Did you try to restart Edge and / or NVDA?

Could you describe what you are doing and when the problem occurs?

Huh, thanks! I might have to try that. I don't think I've ever used
browser history in my entire life. I have all of the other stuff turned
off so I'll bet it's just pulling from the history, which I haven't
cleared, I used to have it automatically clear in Firefox when you
closed it but I don't know if the new version still has that feature or
not. I did clear it in Chrome at some point but if it's holding on to
stuff since, that's probably what's happening. I'm also fine with it
being all or nothing, since the nothing part of it is exactly what I'm
after.

This is what I found on a forum site:

1. Go to the Chrome menu on the browser toolbar
2. Activate Settings
3. Activate Show advanced settings
4. In the Privacy section, deselect the "Use a prediction service to
help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar" checkbox

Keep in mind that the address bar shows matches from your browsing
history, in addition to predictions. If you don't want to see matches
from your browsing history, you must clear that as well.
Beyond that there is nothing more you can do. It is either all or
nothing. You cannot modify the behavior of how you dismiss
suggestions. Suggestions and autocomplete are the same service.

In addition, someone mentioned that it was apain to have to clear
browsing history all the time to stop the auto-complete behaviour and
suggested using incognito mode which doesn't preserve browsing history.

How fast are you typing?  If you either type quickly or turn off
speech, you
won't hear anything.  You likely know this but do you know that
anytime you
want to interrupt speech, you can just keep typing anywhere?  You will
probably get a solution but I'm discussing this as a general

never bother with such settings because I type fast enough that I
don't hear
such information but if I ever start to hear it, maybe because I'm typing

It looks like it is happening because of a UIA error. 

 

Should I turn off anything to stop this?  Not sure how to approach this one.

Or to reset to nvda defaults, do the following

 

NVDA+Ctrl+R (3 times quickly) = Reset to default settings

 

This will completely reset nvda to defaults which will use your system language

 

 

And don’t forget to restart nvda after this, or changing the nvda language

Gene is just complicating the situation needlessly.

Please try this:

 

1. Press NVDA+ctrl+g. This means hold down the NVDA key (insert),

control and press g.

2. When that dialog comes up, press e.

3. Press enter twice.

 

If that doesn't work, and you don't mind deleting your NVDA

configuration and starting again, do this:

1. Press windows+r for the run dialog.

2. Type %appdata% and press enter. This is percent, appdata, percent.

3. Find NVDA in that folder, open that, then in there find nvda.ini.

Delete it.

It's best to do all this with NVDA not running, since save configuration

on exit will overwrite it.

Or to reset to nvda defaults, do the following

 

NVDA+Ctrl+R (3 times quickly) = Reset to default settings

 

This will completely reset nvda to defaults which will use your system language

 

 

And don’t forget to restart nvda after this, or changing the nvda language

For changes to take affect

Gene is just complicating the situation needlessly.

Please try this:

 

1. Press NVDA+ctrl+g. This means hold down the NVDA key (insert),

2. When that dialog comes up, press e.

3. Press enter twice.

 

If that doesn't work, and you don't mind deleting your NVDA

configuration and starting again, do this:

1. Press windows+r for the run dialog.

2. Type %appdata% and press enter. This is percent, appdata, percent.

3. Find NVDA in that folder, open that, then in there find nvda.ini.

Delete it.

It's best to do all this with NVDA not running, since save configuration

on exit will overwrite it.

Hi,

Usually restarting NVDA should sort this out. If this happens again, please do send the log fragment to the forum so we can find out what went wrong (although I have an idea as to what, but just want to make sure).

Well, you could bring up Narrator while it is speaking in the other language, and although you will hear both, you can focus on Narrator enough to follow it to change NVDA’s settings.

Hi everyone,

If menus and dialogs on Windows are in English, then it could be an NVDA problem unless the synthesizer announces things in other languages. The cause, as pointed out by Tyler, is NVDA’s UI language. Please follow Tyler’s instructions to return to English (or rather, force English). The real solution is:

  1. Press Control+NVDA+G to open general settings.
  2. Press End key.
  3. Press Enter twice.

Hello Gary,
I just reproduced the steps you described.
I looked for the beginning of the newsletter in pressing the H key.
Then NVDA started reading.
When it came to "heading 3 New Features"
NVDA started to announce there was a list with 7 items.
Nested lists were also read correctly.
So I don't understand what can go wrong with your experience.
Pressing l to reach this list let NVDA read the list, but nothing is repeated.
So I am sorry I cannot help more.
Did you try to restart Edge and / or NVDA?
