getting the professional version of station playlist studio registered
Hi folks,
I purchased station playlist studio and I can't seem to get it registered I know that you type in the serial number, and the 20 digit code, but I have having trouble with the station name. No matter what i type in there I get an error something about an invalid value and to press escape to which sends me back to the registration screen from that point that invalid value error message comes up every time I tab around the screen. .What should the proper syntax be for the station name? Hopefully one of you listers can help me sort this out. Tony

Re: In relation to pronounciation corrections in eSpeak NG once more
A wiki strikes me as being the ideal place to put such things.
This would enable multiple contributors to create their own pages, with their own notes about which synth they use, what language / accent / dialect they prefer, and upload their version/s of dictionaries for others to try out and also learn from.
I have no idea whether NVaccess has such a wiki as part of its online web resources, or would even want to as part of anything official, but if not, I'm sure there are people here on the list who could provide one if that's the best solution.
Regards,
Antony.

Hi to the respective community and users,
Due to the messages relating to the pronounciation corrections I happen to have read so far, I've just decided to extract them from the directory called Speech Dictionaries. They are contained in a notepad document, which implies that I may offer them whenever you like.
The only question is where to post the document so that it may be accessed by the NVDA users. I do not consider myself to be supposed to do it here, for I have not obtained a permission to do so. I also do not think that it should be done that way because the mail traffic may be made lower.
That's why I'm addressing myself to you so that I may do it in a proper manner so as not to come in breach of the rules and regulations of the mailing list.
As I've already said, I've made over a hundred corrections. Let me confirm here that I've made 139 corrections so far. That's how users can help each other without calling a programmer to intervene.
I hope that it is possible to find room for us the users to upload our corrections so that when accessing that piece of the site, we can automatically exchange pronounciation corrections. That's one way of how eSpeak NG speech may be updated without wating any next release to launch.
If I'm supposed to send the mentioned document to an admin in a private message so that it may be reviewed, I'm glad to obey the rule. If I'm supposed to mention this topic no longer, I shall obey that rule, too.

Re: Excerpt from Espeak NG list
I would like to preface with the fact that I am also Trix Maiden. These submissions were made to the Git Hub for Espeak NG and that's my username over there.
I am glad that change has been reversed, as I have never heard this kind of thing in spoken English except in words where it's appropriate, such as the ones you gave as examples. You must admit, however, that when you hear the phrase "done quickly", and
the "done" sounds like "dung", a blind person using a screen-reader to provide them with accurate rendering of what they are reading is going to raise an eyebrow. :)

The complaint said that there is an additional g sound where two words such as ing case are spoken.
As to the n sounding different in a word like sing, I agree.
The issue referenced in this discussion talked about there being too much emphasis on the "n", "as if there is an extra "g" at the end of it before the next word begins. The only change made in that regard is the one I talked about -- espeak-ng is not/was not
inserting an extra g sound in that case. Compare "singer" (no "g") and "linger" (with a "g") for an example of eSpeak and eSpeak NG pronouncing the "g" sound.
With the -ing ending, some accents (e.g. London/cockney) say it as "in" (e.g. somethin'), other accents. In
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_FtnOTLkSs&t=137, the female speaker uses the velarised n without a g, and the male (cokney) speaker uses a regular n sound. When the -ing not the final part of the word such as with an -er ending like in stronger and linger,
some accents pronounce the g while others do not. In
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dvLfIMepxJ8 the g is pronounced in the word linger. For the word "singer", in
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJaEpvEcrsA, the first American speaker, and both British and Scottish speakers pronounces the "g", while the second American speaker and the Irish speakers do not.
I don't have a way to try the latest NVDA to hear the speech so I don't know if this problem has been completely eliminated. I understand there is a SAPI 5 version. Does that version
contain the latest code?

This is not done in English. I've never heard anything even remotely like what is being stated as being in spoken, rather than written English.
If the claim is being made as reported in the below message, it is not partly or marginally incorrect, it is completely incorrect. In two words like can get, the n is held and the
g is smoothly spoken at the instant the n sound is ended. There is no additional g nor even a hint of one. And that's the way things are generally.
It is not an additional "g", it is the "n" sound before a "k" or "g" in words like "sing", "king", and "sink". Within words, this process happens naturally. Across words, that process may happen (especially when the words are spoken quickly, or with little
pause between them).
Specifically, the "k" and "g" sounds are made by moving the back of your tongue to the back of your mouth (the velum). An "n" sound is made by touching the front of your tongue to the front of your mouth, but before a "k" or "g" sound (especially when done
quickly), your tongue moves to the back of your mouth in preparation of making the "k" or "g" sound, so that "n" has a different sound to things like "no", or "none".
This is a process called velarization.

Now I'm not getting at anyone here, but although the message below is
related to a very new incarnation of the synth, it kind of makes the point
made in a previous thread on here about the changes being made to Espeak
which do not sit well with users.
Here is the post...
I have no axe to grind here, except that it has been my experience too that
some pronunciations are dismissed as OK when they are not.
[espeak-ng:master] New Issue Created by Trix-Maiden:
#443 Velarisation in Espeak NG is too pronounced
I've brought this up before as well, but I want to do so again here, in less
abrasive language.
The current way Espeak ng processes velarisation puts too much emphasis on
it. Any word ending with an "N" that precedes one starting with a hard "g"
or "c" sounds as if there is an extra "g" at the end of it before the next
word begins. "Ing case", "wung game" "cang get", etc.
The last time I brought up this issue, I was told this is how these words
sound when spoken by humans, but I would disagree. Not to say this doesn't
happen, but it isn't lingered over the way it is in the current release of
Espeak ng. In previous versions, the transitions between these words sounded
natural enough to my ears, and this version over-emphasises the velarisation
to the point of it being unnatural.
(Note: I do not type "one" like that, but I had to alter spellings to
simulate the pronunciation issue as clearly as possible to another blind
person.)

Huh, thanks! I might have to try that. I don't think I've ever used browser history in my entire life. I have all of the other stuff turned off so I'll bet it's just pulling from the history, which I haven't cleared, I used to have it automatically clear in Firefox when you closed it but I don't know if the new version still has that feature or not. I did clear it in Chrome at some point but if it's holding on to stuff since, that's probably what's happening. I'm also fine with it being all or nothing, since the nothing part of it is exactly what I'm after.

1. Go to the Chrome menu on the browser toolbar 2. Activate Settings 3. Activate Show advanced settings 4. In the Privacy section, deselect the "Use a prediction service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar" checkbox
Keep in mind that the address bar shows matches from your browsing history, in addition to predictions. If you don't want to see matches from your browsing history, you must clear that as well. Beyond that there is nothing more you can do. It is either all or nothing. You cannot modify the behavior of how you dismiss suggestions. Suggestions and autocomplete are the same service.
In addition, someone mentioned that it was apain to have to clear browsing history all the time to stop the auto-complete behaviour and suggested using incognito mode which doesn't preserve browsing history.
Cheers Chris

How fast are you typing? If you either type quickly or turn off speech, you won't hear anything. You likely know this but do you know that anytime you want to interrupt speech, you can just keep typing anywhere? You will probably get a solution but I'm discussing this as a general principle. I never bother with such settings because I type fast enough that I don't hear such information but if I ever start to hear it, maybe because I'm typing more slowly, I just keep typing.

Has anybody solved this issue with chrome? I have every predictive thing turned off, but when I start typing in the address bar, I hear stuff like, suppose I'm typing in mandolin cafe. I type an m, I hear "m andolessons dot com", I type an 'a' and then maybe it thinks I mean something else so I hear "mathmaze dot com selected instead", and so on. It's really pretty annoying, particularly since I don't want it to do that. Just let me type a URL and be done with it. Quit trying to figure out where I might want to go, like I told you to.

Is the Chrome browser accessible with NVDA? Is it worth trying?

Re: NVDA log from previous execution
Hi, Hmmm, that’s odd – focus event, UIA not keeping an eye on focus changes, anything is possible. Cheers, Joseph

The list doesn't allow attachments. I suspect
copying and pasting would serve.

Hi,
Hmmm, you say you’ve attached
the log? I don’t see it.
Cheers,

Well, this happens from time to time and
has for the past few versions. Since it is I will include the log snippit
in this posting. This happens most often when I press the windows key
while in Thunderbird but I have seen it in other apps as
well.
The log is

Well, this happens from time to time and has for the past

The log is attached.

Hi,
Usually restarting NVDA should sort

Ok, I figured out how to find the logs.
It looks like it is happening because of a UIA
error.
Should I turn off anything to stop this? Not
sure how to approach this one.

Hi,
I am having a problem and thought I'd see if I
could get a log of it. The problem is that often if I
am in Thunderbird or another app and I press the
windows key NVDA seems to crash. I have to restart
it.
I can see how to get to the current execution
log but not the log from the execution when the crash
happened. How do I find this?
thanks.

Re: NVDA log from previous execution
Hi, Hmmm, you say you’ve attached the log? I don’t see it. Cheers, Joseph
