with a screen reader, especially NVDA.

People need to stop disabling Windows Updates, period.  This is yet another example of where doing so creates more problems than it solves.

If Windows 7 was allowed to run its normal Windows Update process the "offer" of Windows 10 would have disappeared very shortly after the end of July 2016.  It is only on machines with broken or blocked updates where GWX, the Windows 10 offer "nagware," still rears its ugly head.  It was removed via the normal update process 21 months ago.

Vista was never eligible for a free upgrade to Windows 10 and GWX was never installed on Vista machines.

I'm proud to say, that as of this afternoon, I updated to Windows 10, without speech, using "seeing AI" on my iphone.

All I need now, is a product key.

Hi, Chris,

Excuse me. I think I did not express myself well

I know how to use the bookmark bar in Chrome.
What I am referring to is the bookmark panel in Firefox, wich is completely different. Note that Firefox also have a bookmar toolbar, but I don't use it. Instead, I use bookmark panel.
In Firefox I can go to the bookmark panel, go to a folder of sites called Daily, for example, use down arrow to go to Site A and access it with ENTER.
After that, with a couple of strokes in F6 key, I go to the bookmark panel, where Site A is already selected. So, to browse in Site B, all that I need is an arrow down and a ENTER.
and so forth. To visit Site C, the next in my list, again, F6 twice to go to the bookmark panel, where Site B is selected and another down arrow. and ENTER.
All these steps are easier done than described.
This allows me to visit websites in order making sure I don't miss anyone.
So, the lack of something similar in Chrome is the only reason I continue to use Firefox 52 ESR.

You say you don’t like the Chrome interface. To be very clear/honest, neither did I at first, but the more I’ve been using Chrome, the more I’m growing to swear by it!

 

I’m just curious what exactly you don’t care for. Is it the fact that things are now mainly laid out in web views instead of multi tab dialogs? If so, that through me for a bit of a loop as well at first until I got used to it, so yeah. That would be a fair statement if so.

Second, did I perhaps miss something here? I thought F123 was a really old, and all be it also, very dead last I looked, distro of Linux that was made specifically for the blind. And before anyone gets OT asking me, no, I don't know if the packages included with it would be up to date, nor how far a sudo apt[get update would take you. I don't even know if apt is included. It might use either yum, or pacman. Anyway, that's not for this list though, so I digress. Point is, it's pretty old, but as far as a Chrome extension with that name, I'm curious what this thing does.

Many larger websites are getting stuck and the browser doesn’t respond.

Anyone has seen that still happening?

An example page is for example the Heise Online Newsticker, which is a computer magazine:

No, it doesn't, because it's a server side protocol and one typically sets up one's filters and folders on the server side.  This can be done through many e-mail clients, too.

The whole point of IMAP is to have all the heavy lifting done in a single, centralized location so that all clients accessing the same account(s) will see exactly the same thing.

I don't like the way book marks are laid out and I tried using the book marks search feature but, at least in the version I tried it with, the feature appeared to be inaccessible.  I also don't like the lack of short cut and accellerator keys for some items in menus.  It's been years since Chrome has been around and the google accessibility developers still haven't implemented a short cut or accelerator command for book marks, at least as far as I know.  I haven't followed Chrome much for awhile.

 

In addition, though I don't use history much, I still don't want it displayed as a web page when I do use it. 

 

I regularly use the book marks search feature in firefox and I find it so useful that I never organize book marks any longer.  If a book mark isn't conveniently available where it is, I use the search feature. 

 

As far as settings are concerned, I'm not sure if I have an opinion about which I prefer, the firefox layout or the Chrome web page layout.  But for me, history and book marks are important enough that I use firefox.

You say you don’t like the Chrome interface. To be very clear/honest, neither did I at first, but the more I’ve been using Chrome, the more I’m growing to swear by it!

 

I’m just curious what exactly you don’t care for. Is it the fact that things are now mainly laid out in web views instead of multi tab dialogs? If so, that through me for a bit of a loop as well at first until I got used to it, so yeah. That would be a fair statement if so.

Second, did I perhaps miss something here? I thought F123 was a really old, and all be it also, very dead last I looked, distro of Linux that was made specifically for the blind. And before anyone gets OT asking me, no, I don't know if the packages included with it would be up to date, nor how far a sudo apt[get update would take you. I don't even know if apt is included. It might use either yum, or pacman. Anyway, that's not for this list though, so I digress. Point is, it's pretty old, but as far as a Chrome extension with that name, I'm curious what this thing does.

In my opinnion, it depends on what exactly you need.

For instance, Code Factory's Vocalizer requires an internet connection at least once a month, and some users have complaint about the actiovation system. It also depends too much on external executables, more than Tiflotecnia's Vocalizer.

And I can ensure that vocalizer Driver v4 by Tiflotecnia is being developed. I don't know the conditions under it will be released, but the fact is that it exists.

NVDA problem after Windows log-in

Hi

I have a long standing issue over several NVDA versions where after entering my Windows password, NVDA fires up but only appears to be partially loaded.  I get voice output as I use windows commands to move around.  NVDA+n doesn’t work, so I accessed the log file using the system tray icon but I could not move around in the log file using arrow keys.  I loaded Outlook 2007, opened a message then tried to read the message body using NVDA+DownArrow but just a number was read out and when I repeated the command, the number increased by 5 each time.  I saved the log file, used Ctrl+alt+n to reload NVDA and all began working normally.  This happens all the time and on many occasions after reloading NVDA, there are 2 references to NVDA in the system tray overflow area.  The log file below shows a Watchdog_watcher warning of ‘Core frozen in stack’.  Can anyone shed any light on what is happening here?  I’m using windows 10 Version 1709 (OS Build 16299.371).

I live in Brazil and the obstacle for using Vocalizer is the price.

I understand that software developing has a cost, but, living in a country where most of the blind don't have even a job, think that the cost is very high.

maybe, by offering one or two voices free of charge might be a good idea.

Hi,

What I like in Firefox is the bookmarks panel.

As my bookmarks are all organized in logical groups, I can browse sites in a sequence.

For example, I have a Daily folder and can navigate all the sites, in order, simply by going to the bookmark panel and going to the next bookmark with a simple stroke in the down arrow key.

Using Chrome to navigate in the order I want is very time consuming.

It happens about 1 time in three, and its obvious now that when it occurs its because nvda does not get time to close at log out always, so one assumes its still running when you restart but crippled. This could be the same issue I've mentioned about updates not always starting after an install in nvda.
