Re: having multiple webpages opened when using NVDA?
A big shout out to Gene, Jonathan, & Sylvie for all reinforcing the importance of knowing the difference between application program or Windows OS keyboard shortcuts and screen reader shortcuts.
When shortcuts "are your life" (and even when they aren't) it's very easy to lose track of which shortcuts are processed by what layer - screen reader, program, or OS - but knowing which it is can really make your life much easier. The CTRL+T for "open new tab" command is universal, or very nearly so [as I've not hit an exception yet], within all web browsers. A huge number of the keyboard shortcuts that any of use use are Windows OS keyboard shortcuts. Microsoft now has a great page documenting same which allows you to choose which version of Windows you wish to get them for via a dropdown box near the very top of the page: Windows Keyboard Shortcuts. While the old tried and true ones from all prior versions of Windows remain unchanged, there are a number of new ones, mostly using WinKey plus something, but a few others as well, that are new to Windows 10. -- Brian - Windows 10 Home, 64-Bit, Version 1709, Build 16299 (dot level on request - it changes too often to keep in signature) The opposite of a correct statement is a false statement. But the opposite of a profound truth may well be another profound truth. ~ Niels Bohr

There are command conflicts at times between screen-readers and programs or Windows, but they aren't common and that's what the screen-reader's bypass command is for. Any screen-reader that has any sizable number of such conflicts is improperly designed.

Hi All, What is the command for opening multiple webpages in NVDA. I know in JAWS, if you press control plus T an edit field for entering another URL comes up. Then once arriving at a second or third webpage, movement between them is done by pressing control plus tab. How is this done in NVDA? Thanks very much for any guidance.

Hello again Quentin,
There is the other problem. In some part of the document with table, I can go only to the next annotation, but unable to go back to the previous one. As far as I try, the problem happen in column three of both roll two and three. I'm not sure whether there will be the problem like this in other part or not.

Regarding braille not being available on log-in screen, presumably you have braille settings on the NVDA profile associated with your windows user account but have you used the feature in the NVDA General setting dialog where you can copy your profile for use on log-in screens?

If you get the braille extender addon, things seem to get better in reloading it if it goes off, and you can set a hotkey to load whichever one you want, plus its got all sorts of other cool features.

Hi,
I did try refreshing and it still didn't work. Browse mode switching also was a no go.
I spoke to the person who sent me the link to the doc and he says it was actually created several years ago. He is going to create a new doc with the same info in it to see if that will help. It is possible that it was created without the full accessibility capabilities.
Thanks for all the suggestions.

Brian's Mail list account <bglists@...>
I found that a different synth was the answer to this sort of thing. I'm not sure but I think also something that is looked at for a profile is sometimes also true at other times, making profiles for speech a a bit hit and miss at times. I can say no more than that, but I had this just with a basic text reader so I doubt its just kindle.

I haven't worked with profiles to any extent and
this may not be as good a solution as others will propose. You could make
a profile not just regarding say all. You could make a profile for slowing
speech when the Kindle application is loaded and leave all settings the same but
have speech slowed to the rate you want.
