Re: NVDA Confuguration profiles and heading setting in google sheets

Here is an issue with an explanation about why it is trying to reload the Braille driver: https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda/issues/8032

On Wed, May 2, 2018 at 5:14 PM, Quentin Christensen <quentin@...> wrote:
When it changes profiles it loads the changed settings and some that may not have changed as well - Braille is one of those - so it tries to load the saved Braille driver (for your usual Braille device) but because that takes a few moments to ascertain that there is no driver connected and rollover to the "No Braille" setting, it is more noticeable than when NVDA first starts up.  It might be something we can make more efficient though.

The easiest way to check the version of your windows:

Press win+R and type winver press enter you will come to know which version of window you are using!

The latest version is windows 10 version 1803 build OS17134.1

Hi Group,

There was an add on for Winamp created by the late, great Carlos of the Tech Talk mailing list.  I am not sure where to get it, but it apparently worked quite well.  It was a stand alone program that interfaced with Winamp and was not dependent on any screen reader.

Re: Does NVDA support bluetooth connection?

Quentin Christensen

Hi John,

As Laz indicated, NVDA does support the full range of Focus displays.  From the NVVDA User Guide:

14.1. Freedom Scientific Focus/PAC Mate Series
All Focus and PAC Mate displays from Freedom Scientific are supported when connected via USB or bluetooth. You will need the Freedom Scientific braille display drivers installed on your system. If you do not have them already, you can obtain them from http://www2.freedomscientific.com/downloads/focus-40-blue/focus-40-14-blue-downloads.asp. Although this page only mentions the Focus Blue display, the drivers support all Freedom Scientific Focus and Pacmate displays. If your system is running 64 bit Windows and the drivers were already installed by another screen reader, you will probably still need to install the drivers from this link, as the files required by NVDA were probably not installed by the other screen reader.

By default, NVDA can automatically detect and connect to these displays either via USB or bluetooth. However, when configuring the display, you can explicitly select "USB" or "Bluetooth" ports to restrict the connection type to be used. This might be useful if you want to connect the focus display to NVDA using bluetooth, but still be able to charge it using USB power from your computer.

Re: Problem with Eloquence for windows

You need to contact whoever you got it from to get it reset or buy another copy I guess.

I think you were supposed to deactivate the software before you update then activate it again.

There is a plugin for NVDA but I don't use it and I don't know what features it has.  But you can make a note of where you stopped and use it to
resume.

When you want to stop, pause Winamp with c.
Use control j to open the jump to time dialog.
You will be in a field showing the time where you have paused Winamp.

Don't move around in the field.
Just use control c to copy the ttime.
Now, stop play and close Winamp.
Open Winamp and paste the time into it.
Save it with whatever name you want.
When you want to resume playing, Open the file in Notepad.
Copy the time to the clipboard.
Now open the file you want to listen to in Winamp.  It's your choice whether to pause it now or leave it playing.
Open the time dialog with control j, the same command as before.
Paste the time in with control v and press enter.  You will now be at the time you left off.

This may sound a lot more cumbersome and time consuming than it is.

Hi Roger and all!

I installed Windows 10 1803 today as well.

It is the most snappy build of Win10 yet for me. I really like what they added in 1803 to the Windows defender. It installed without a hitch, and it works with NVDA.

Take care, everybody, I feel like a kid on Christmas LOL!

Enjoy the 1803 update!

hi lino
ok
but is there another way to do the marking feature?
or does NVDA have  an add on for it?

You can’t. that feature is part of the JAWS scripts for Winamp.

I find something I don't understand in Security Center now.  There an item called enhanced protection and there is a button saying sign up.  What is this all about?  Does it cost something to sign up and do you need to sell your soul to get it?  That is, do they need an email addy or any other personal info which will open you to spam?  I just want to fully understand this before doing anything.

Thanks.

Roger

Joseph,

Your note here mentioned your presentation and several others as “it.” Thought I would find a link, but didn’t. Might you repost the URL? Very interested in your talk.
