Ok, I just need a few more details. Have you been creating any system backups and what level of sight do you have as in the initial part of the recovery process you will need to see what is happening on the screen. After this we may be able to start Narrator. I think it would be best if I email you off list as there may be quite a few emails back and forth. With a bit of luck we should be able to get you back up and running, but please note it will take a bit of time as the recovery will have to reinstall a lot of files. Regards, Stephen

Hi Caleb,
You may be able to do a recovery from start up. What make is your Laptop and was Win 10 installed on it when you purchased it?

I had a friend do this. Basically, you will have to reformat, either use your recovery partition, or get rid of windows completely clear the drive. Then you will have to rebuy windows, office and everything else, and delete and recreate your ms account else it won't work. If there is a uac window opend I don't know it and my uac is off. I guess that nvda does not read background windows.

Bookmarks have nothing to do with the time a file
starts. Bookmarks, as with bookmarks in a browser, are intended to play
what has been bookmarked as though you manually opened the file. It plays
from the beginning. Time markers in JAWS are what you need to
use.

CONTROL-ALT-up arrow should bring it back to
upright, but you should have it checked by a pair of eye balls. There is a
setting in Device Manager that will disable linking these keystrokes to rotating
the screen, but it has been a long time since I had to do this, so i do not
recall exactly where the setting is, but it is under device manager and graphics
adapters.

Re: Win 10 spring update

Hey Ron! I am so glad you have 1803. I have it on both of my laptops, and I really like Time line a lot. I really like that you can control which sound card Narrator uses. I really like the groupings in settings as well. The mail app works a little better, mainly a little more snappy with JAWS especially. The Mail, Calendar, and People apps work great with NVDA and Narrator. Great to see you on here Ron! God bless. David Moore

Hi Group,
I updated to version 18.03 just this morning. The process took a little more than an hour. Everything seems to be working just fine. The only glitch was that for some reason, my default sound card for speech (which is separate from the system default) was reset to about 40% of volume rather than my usual 100%. I changed that under sound manager and now everything is as before.

Go to I think it's display under the control panel and you can set it to what ever you ant. Mine is set to landscape as that's the way the thing needs to be in order for someone to see it.

Re: How do I fix my screen it is the wrong way around.
David Griffith
This is a well known problem with the Intel Mobile Graphics driver prevalent on several laptioslaptops./. The problem is that the key stroke used by NVDA for table reading control alt arrow keys are also grabbed by the Driver to change screen orientation . This means that blind users can inadvertently have their screens sideways or even upside down. If this is your problem you need to firstly revert the screen orientation to normal by using the control alt and arrow keystrokes. You will probably need sighted help for this. Then go into the properties ofd the Intel mobile Graphics driver – when I had this problem it resided in the system tray. There look for the option to change screen orientation using keyboard shortcut and disable this and things should settle down. David Griffit

Hi all, I have been told that my screen is the wrong way round! I am not sure if it is up side down or what. I have just been told that is like it is on it's side. sorry not a good description but this is all I have to go on. I thought that alt control and up and down left and right arrow fixed this but it does nothing lenovo all in 1 and latest version of windows 10 that just came out. thanks in advance.

Hi
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
there are shortcuts to do it but when i used to do it i was usually on the task bar. it was some thing like alt + ctrl key plus arrow keys. If the left arrow key was used it would put it on the left hand side, the right arrow key on the right and the down arrow key on the bottom. Or the other way if not sure press the windows key and in the search bar type task bar. you might not have to type it all. A search result will come up in settings. You will then need to tab a few times and on one of them it will tell you where it is on the screen mine tell me on the bottom If it is any where else on the screen change it to the bottom one. hope it helps. Hi Rayn, There isn't a specific driver just for Polaris. It is the Hims driver built into NVDA. Ensure the Polaris can pair successfully with your computer first.
