Re: firefox issue

Abbie Taylor <abbietaylor945@...>

I think it's Firefox. Nowadays, whenever I try to have it remember a particular password, the dialog asking me if I want Firefox to do this keeps coming up, and I keep pressing the button to save the password, and it comes up again. This happens for a while, and then when I just escape out of that dialog, I lose speech altogether and have to re-start Firefox before it will work properly. By the way, it never does remember the password.

I already changed my Facebook password yesterday afternoon, but I don't think that did it for Messenger because some friends told me they received messages this morning.

NVDA 2018.2: add-on compatibility notices for Enhanced Touch Gestures and others

Hi all,

The following notice concerns compatibility of some of my add-ons with NVDA 2018.2 (scheduled to hit the air in a few weeks). It also contains Windows 10 compatibility notice for Windows 10 App Essentials add-on:

Due to introduction of multi-page NVDA Settings dialog and several additional features in NVDA 2018.2, the following add-ons will no longer support NVDA 2018.1.x the day NVDA 2018.2 ships:

  • Enhanced Touch Gestures: the settings dialog (currently known as “Touch Interaction” and is the second one named in preferences menu) will become a panel within NVDA Settings and will be named “Enhanced Touch Gestures). People who’d like to use Enhanced Touch Gestures add-on in earlier NVDA releases should use add-on version 18.04.
  • Golden Cursor: as stated before, Golden Cursor 3.0 will require NVDA 2018.2, with settings dialog for this add-on being incorporated into NVDA Settings as a panel.
  • StationPlaylist Studio: although this add-on will support NVDA 2018.1.1 and earlier for a while, this, too, will require NVDA 2018.2 later this year due to massive add-on settings redesign. Specifically, settings dialog for this add-on will become a multi-category settings interface in the fall.
  • Windows 10 App Essentials: Version 18.06.x will require NVDA 2018.2 due to introduction of UIA notification handler in NVDA screen reader. Version 18.06.x is also the last release series to support Windows 10 Version 1703; add-on 18.07 and later will require Fall Creators Update (Version 1709) and later.

A development snapshot of Enhanced touch Gestures will be sent to the community for review and testing later this week. This development snapshot will require latest NVDA master and next snapshots to run due to settings redesign.

Cheers,

Joseph

Just insert the USB Flash Drive, determine the drive letter Windows gives it, press WIN-KEY+R, type DriveLetter:\NVDA and it will launch.

Re: How do I run a portable copy of NVDA from a USB flash drive

Gene New Zealand <hurrikennyandopo@...>

Hi

As mentioned  the easiest way for some is to use narrator on the other machine.

Depending as long as there is not a lock screen and this may depend on the operating system earlier version of narrator  up to windows 10 to start narrator was the windows key + enter key in a later version of windows 10 it is the ctrl key + windows key + the enter key.

The other way before knowing the shortcuts was to bring up the ease of access centre which if i remember right was the windows key + letter U then either alt + N to start narrator.

The shortcuts mentioned above will work but depending on the operating system of windows.

You will need to locate your usb drive then start your copy of nvda.

There are different ways of starting nvda on another computer which are on my nvda audio tutorials page.

Do you know how to start a new thread using the address to send mail to and not just by replying to another thread?  What you did is called hijacking.  It means to reply to an already existing thread, change the subject line and send a completely unrelated message.  If you don't know how to start a new message to the list, list members will tell you.  But hijacking threads is not something that should be done.

Also, your question isn't clear.  Get what program to work better?  NVDA?  And what problems are you having.  Your question can't be answered if you don't describe what p[oblems you are having.

Run Narrator, then find and open the drive and run NVDA from the drive.  After it is running and you have speech, close Narrator.

If the laptop is a computer you are going to use often and you have permission to set something up on it, you can assign a short cut command to run NVDA and use it when the drive is connected.  You won't have to run Narrator if you do that.

Subject: [nvda] How do I run a portable copy of NVDA from a USB flash drive

I have successfully created a portable copy of NVDA on my flash drive. How do I run it on another lap top computer?
