In thunder bird it is options then display tab then advanced tab and it
is under that section where you can make it longer or shorter to display
when message read.

I hadn't thought of that. I also figured that I didn't have "unread" checked. I think that's why new messages were being marked as unread. Now everything is working fine.

Hello,

One feature I used to like about WindowEyes was the ability to type F1 while navigating through the WindowEyes panel and having a two or three sentence prase describing in more details the currently focused item.

Does NVDA have functionality like this that I missed?

Thanks,

Re: Does this page sound weird to anybody else?

Hello,

Weebly.com is one of those sites that auto-creates web sites with drag and drop actions. I believe in general these quick build web sites have a tendency to not follow WCAG standards. There is going to be a conference in the Washington DC area in October where one of the points being discussed is how to improve the accessibility of this type of site.

When I go to the below page with NVDA, to me it sounds like just parts of words are read.  In the middle of some words, symbols such as “dollar” and “percent” are being read.

I’ve tried it with Internet Explorer and Firefox.  The URL is https://saintleouniversityparents.weebly.com/my-parent-access.html.

Re: NVDA no longer gives feedback on copy, cut and paste as before

Brian,

Do you find the slowness / bugs only with Office products? I believe that Office does not use the standard clipboard until one has switched out of the Office program. I remember reading about an Office clipboard that keeps a history of clips and has some additional functionality over the standard Windows clipboard.

If this is the case, then perhaps Office has some event notifications about its internal board that could be used to improve performance in Office. Did you talk with the add-on developer about issues in your versions of Office?

Best Wishes,

Jonathan

I think that's what could be happening.

So, as long as you don't look at a message (or its status) it is "new", but
the moment you look at it, its status changes to "read" because you've now
seen it.

Just an idea,

I have Dropbox 50 on a Windows 7 computer here, and I can read the Dropbox
preferences with no problems, although I haven't tried changing anything

It's true that the Preferences window looks blank when it's first opened,
but I could find the different options by pressing the Tab key.
I hope this helps!

Can somebody who uses Dropbox in Windows 10, go to the tray icon and open

I'm told by several people this works, but I'm on windows 7 and with

Here is the log. If you hate these then stop reading. I'm loathe to post a

is the problem here.

Can't load Seika Touchme5 in NVDA!

Mallard <mallard@...>

Hello all,

I normally use a pm 40 display from Freedom Scientific with this computer, but it needs cleaning, so I tried to connect my Touchme5 by Seika.
I'd never had any problems with it, but now I keep getting an error, and a message that says "Cannot load braille display".

I see that the driver is no longer present in the latest Next.

I got the driver from a friend, but still can't use the display.

Any suggestions, please?

Thanks, take care,
Ollie

You need the driver from Freedom Scientific. That is the one that will work. Look at the instructions in the NVDA
User's Guide under Braille displays and Freedom Scientific. There is a link for downloading the driver. unfortunately, I
don't have the link at hand right now. I am using Focus displays.

Yes, that driver does work.

On Reaper was there not a helper program for that. I've not looked at it as its a bit over the top for the sound editing I tend to do, but it is a bit of a pain if important options aare not seen

Subject: Re: [nvda] Hello

I'd say for just starting out, learn the commands you need for every day
use, then transition to new things as and when you need them, or if you are
curious, sooner. Becoming familiar with the review cursor and object nav in
NVDA are good skills to have, because they can help you gain some extra
usability out of apps that aren't the best accessibility wise, and, even
the ones that are, you will find that not everything is in the tab index,
and things will be hidden from screen readers that are perfectly visible to
sighted users. An example of which is the save dialog in reaper, not the
render one, but to save a project, that dialog has a bunch of options you
never see unless you use object navigation, and some of them are quite
useful, such as copying new media into the project folder, what options to
use to convert media, such as format / encoding, etc. Screen review is good
for trying to figure out what's going on with an app, say, if its not
showing anything at all to the screen reader. You switch to the screen
review mode, then use the review keys to see if you can get anything.
Sometimes you will, sometimes not.
