Sure, you can.

You could do this locally with an oCR package, probably, even if you have to take an extra conversion step from the .tif image file or whatever.

This online tool has good reviews, so it’s probably decent. Haven’t tried it, but maybe it’ll get you started.

What add-ons are you using?   This sounds like it could very well be an issue with an add-on.  I would definitely try restarting Firefox in its safe mode (which is unrelated to Windows Safe Mode) and see if the issue persists.  Take a look at:  https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode

Greetings Chris,

Thank you for contacting us.  I have discussed it with our developers, and I
have also researched the NVDA and Cobra screen readers, and it is our opinion
that the problem is caused by the new interface for SFAS 12.  The new version
uses QT framework, and from what I have found, there are many, many complaints
from seeing impaired users about difficulties with screen readers interacting
with QT framework.  I would recommend writing the makers of the screen readers
and ask them if they know of an incompatibility issue with QT framework.  Of
course, if there is, we would be happy to refund your purchase. If you would
like, I could send you a trial version of Sound Forge Audio Studio 10...I know
it's a bit older, but it uses a different framework, and should work much
better with screen reading software.  If you want to try that, let me know,
and I'll be happy to set it up.

??e apologize to you for the inconvenience of that.  I personally see it as a
big problem, and I will talk with our developers about what we can do in the
future to change this--it should be our goal as a company to make sure all of
our programs can function properly when used with a screen reading interface.
??e thank you for your time, and we will await your response.  In the meantime,
have a great day!

Re: Firefox Quantum?

Perhaps different users have different experiences after the changes and improvements on the initial changes.

I've probably written about this here before.  Use a portable version of Firefox to avoid the problem of the program updating.  It isn't supposed to but if you use a portable version, even if it updates, you can have a copy of the program as a backup.  just by copying the folder to another location.  Then all you have to do is delete the folder with the updated version and copy the backup folder to the same location.  Export book marks over time so you can import them into the backup verxsion after you've copied it to the location where you want it.

You can get portable versions of Firefox here:
ESR versions are on this page as well as not ESR versions.

And I think it’s a good idea to use the portable version even if you don't have this kind of problem.  If it ever becomes corrupted, you can replace it, as I described above.  You don't have to know how to troubleshoot the program.  Just replace it with the backed up version.

switch over to the universal.

So at least for the moment they are leaving us alone who knows how long
that is but still.

I have not as yet tried this.

The nvda skype group didn't have much traffic and I was thinking of
pulling out anyway.

Skype isnot a real issue for me as I hardly use it.

Skype web via miranda works for text, now if I can use it to call skype
then fine I guess.

There is zello but I have never figured it out as such.

On the other side those of us on android and ios devices will still be
able to use skype,.

This seems to effect desktops, that is windows, mac and linux only.

For group chats there is teamtalk, and tthub.org <http://tthub.org/> are
offering competitive rates right now.

I am interested though in some kind of voip or sip app that is easy to
use, accessible and can use as a protocol skype calls, messages, groups
and file shares which are the only things I ever use.

If that can be done and if I can login with my skype account then fine.

Right now skype classic still works.

Eventually that may die but who knows.

The skype interface with miranda ng is a bit different, I will have to
get used to it but right now well.

I don't use skype enough to justify upgrading to anything new, I barely
use that much of skype's power as it is.

I have to say its not been used here for almost a year now.
I find it irritating that such a simple system is not being made
available in a basic form for low tech users and without the flashy
front end changes every fortnight. Skype always had a reputation of
bringing out improvements that broke it, and it seems this has not
stopped with Microsoft owning it, sadly.
So what else is out there for desktop machines for good quality audio
over the internet free?

Subject: [nvda] end of the line for nvda skype group

Hi all of you.

Pulling out of nvda skype group now because of 1, skypes uncertain
future and 2. the fact I hardly contribute to it, I will shift all my
conversational contributions to this list from now on if I havn't
allready.

I will still use skype classic for family, but due to things as they
stand I may have to remove skype from my contact and other info, it
will be email for internationals only, skype if they need, but I will
no longer advertise.

Microsoft has lost another user, skype classic interface is easy to
understand, the new one I just don't care for.

Its a pitty its got to end this way but I may as well cut my losses
right now rather than having to bother with things going bang.

I will have to either search for another solution or start paying high
charges for international calls because skype new versions are
inaccessible.

Way to go ms.

Can't skype classic just be pulled from the update loop and still be
kept active?

It loads quite fast for me, as far as I know and I'm using firefox 60.x I think. All pages load quickly like they are supposed to.

Hi,

in QT there are accessibility features available:
https://doc.qt.io/archives/qt-5.10/accessible.html
If I remember correctly when VLC changed to QT it wasn't accessible until
these features are switched on. Same with Rockbox Utility.
So probably Magix only have to turn on the accessibility features in QT.

Yours sincerely

Arno
