If it's an IMAP or Microsoft Exchange account, you can probably just delete

your *.ost files. Mine are found in the user profile folder, under AppData\local\Microsoft\Outlook. You need to close Outlook before deleting the files. When you start Outlook again, it will retrieve the messages from the server and recreate those files.

In the BrailleExtender preferences, you can configure the list of output

tables between which you want to switch. Then, use the command documented in the BrailleExtender help for your specific display to switch between the configured output tables. The configuration dialog shows the tables that are in the switch, and those which are not, allowing you to add and remove tables from the switch. If this overview doesn't solve your problem, let me know what's confusing and I'll enter into more detail.

Re: NVDA And Avast Free Anti Virus
Gene
Turning off self-defense allows NVDA to see the
available information on screen. It does nothing aside from that to
improve accessibility. Using JAWS with self-protection on or off, doesn't
change what JAWS sees and, with self-protection on, the program is better
protected from attack.
If I needed access beyond the time a JAWS demo
runs, since that is what I use now and then, if necessary or desirable, I would
turn self-defense off and use NVDA for the that operation, such as a scan, then
turn it on afterwards and use the JAWS demo with the program.

Re: PDF file missing spaces

I don't know if the problem can be corrected with
Adobe itself. You might try PDF2TXT, a small almost utility instead of
being a program and see if that corrects it. I've had lots of trouble
using the current one but I think I still have the installation file for the
older one, which I find works better on a lot of P
DF files. Or, using OCR such as available in Openbook, Kurzweil, Fine Reader, and I would think other OCR programs might solve the problem. Gene

It is something to do with how Adobe Reader interprets the spaces in files
created with certain other products, but what I can't remember, is how do I fix

Automatically start NVDA after I log on to Windows checkbox unable to be checked
Thomas Stivers
Hello all,
The three options pertaining to automatically starting NVDA appear on screen, they do not appear disabled, but they cannot be selected either in the welcome dialog or in the general preferences. This is happening on a remote computer, so I didn't do the installation myself. Is there a scenario where NVDA was installed as a portable copy or run directly from the installer file which can cause these options to be present but unusable? I did a brief search of reported issues, but I don't see anything that covers this although I could I swear I remember discussion about it some months or years ago. For what its worth this is about installing NVDA 2018.1.1 on Windows 10. Thank you for any assistance, Thomas

Re: Dropbox innaccessibility again
Gene
It isn't a typo. It is the result of the
chronic and widespread practice of a lot of blind people not checking spelling
of unfamiliar words and relying on speech for the spelling. it doesn't
matter what you explain or how. If you write to a business or web site
administrator or whomever in a business capacity, and misspell the name of the
thing you are writing about, you lose considerable credibility and do not look
competent.
And how do you know that the thought doesn't arise
in the recipient, "If the person is misspelling the name to this extent, maybe
the person doesn't know how to use the captcha. If you want credibility in
the sighted business and other professional worlds, spell correctly and use
correct names. A typographical error is mistyping; This is
misspelling. and this issue goes much further. If you don't check
names to be sure the spelling is correct, for example of the person you are
writing to, you might use a w at the end of a name when you should use o u g
h. and in your specific case, someone might spell Brian with a y instead
of with an I or visa versa. And the list goes on.

I'm not sure how accessible the current version
is. I stilll use an older version. Did you see anything about off
