I have rebooted and it made no difference.

Try restarting windows then see if you can delete them then
From: Don
I found NVDA files left after the uninstall in the program files (x86) folder. There are 21 files. I tried removing the directory manually, removing the files with a global delete and one by one. In all cases I got the same message saying that the process could not be completed because a file is in use.
I have never used safe mode. Can a screen reader, JAWS 2018, read the screen in safe mode?
How do I get in to safe mode? Is that the right next step?

In the latest nvda system, the lib folders are renamed and new files are written to new copies, then the old files deleted. If any of this fails then this error can occur. I noticed it with another piece of software about a week ago. A complete clear out fixed it.
However great care went into the fail safe nature for nvda in this regard, but it might well be a very old version of nvda if then updated to a very new one might throw up errors we have not experienced. Brian

You said that it was uninstalled. That doesn't mean all files were removed.
The next question, which has been discussed here before but which I didn't try to remember the answer to, is what files are left when uninstalling. It
appears from the cannot overwrite a file message, that at least one file is in use. I don't know why but such questions may help you solve the proboem.
Perhaps something wasn't fully uninstalled that should have been and Windows
is keeping a file in use, perhaps because a registry entry is still present that tells it to. In short, I suspect that completely removing the program may require dealing with such questions or, perhaps, going into safe mode and removing the extra files.

It's probably not your decision, and I don't know how much influence you have over the process, but just for general reference, if this database is going to be used by multiple people simultaneously, Microsoft Access is *not* the program to be used for this, since it doesn't do well with such usage. Of course, if it's just something that will be posted for others to grab a copy when needed, then that doesn't apply, and the use is just fine, but just be aware of that before trying to build a whole subdepartment on such a system, it won't go well.

Yes, the hardware is all right. I had some concerns about it when I got my preproduction unit (battery rattling around loosely, easily fixed), but I understand they’ve fixed some of that stuff, and you get a carrying case now…I haven’t got that yet, I hope to be getting a replacement unit with the hardware issues and firmware updates addressed. Hopefully Josh can comment on the case. One other thing to note: charging is not via USB. In fact, there is no USB charging at all. Charging is via a dedicated charging socket using some sort of laptop power supply, 19 volts at a couple amps…I forget exactly. Anyway, charging is fast, being done in an hour, which should make up for any sort of inconvenience introduced by not being a USB charger.

Re: Problem when updating NVDA with Firefox running
Jonathan COHN
Hello,
I believe this is a long standing known issue and is true in some other Assitive Technologies that Firefox content is not recognized if the AT was started after the content was rendered.
In some cases a refresh of the page has resolved issues like this, but Firefox has gone through a major change in accessibility access since I first looked at these issues.
I wonder, does hitting the control-alt-N command restart NVDA when Firefox is running and if so, does this also cause a lost of NVDA navigation within the current Firefox page?
Thanks,
Jonathan

I've read this a few times and I am seeing issues that could largely be fixed or customized in the firmware. Do I interpret correctly that the hardware itself is well built and allowing for personal preference, generally comfortable to use? Thanks, Erik

Re: Updated the wiki
It looks like anyone can edit the wiki if they have a github account. Yeah, I don't fork it or anything I just edit it directly. I do, however, plan on making a seperate page talking about how accessible the portable apps suite is, and the accessible portable software out there. I use portableapps to try software without bogging down my registry which is nice! Does anybody know if you can create a child page underneath that one? Yeah, the more people editing it, the better, in my opinion, so if you have a git hub account, brush up on your markdown and edit it directly.

Besides NBP, you should send this info to Innovision directly: Innovision <customercare@...> I’ve also pointed out the loud beep. It is very loud. Sorry they haven’t addressed that. So…the uppercase only is a problem inside files? I was alerted that filenames must be all uppercase, but hadn’t had any files to check that I felt like renaming.

I'm sorry, but this is not a list for soliciting
for personal or other donations not directly related to NVDA or perhaps for
products related to NVDA in some direct way. As far as I know, there is no
rule about this in the list rules but this would be a standard assumption on any
list that doesn't specifically say it allows such solicitations.
There are other places to solicit money, such as Go
Fund Me.

Re: Problem when updating NVDA with Firefox running
Chris Mullins
Hi I maybe incorrect but I thought I had read a post that said FireFox On start-up checks if a screen reader is present and enables some functionality. Quite what happens to that functionality when the screen reader is effectively re-started by the update process I don’t know but from your observations it would appear to get broken. It may not be an issue at all, just a circumstance which requires Firefox to be started after the screen reader is loaded.
Cheers Chris

Hello.
I don't know if this topic has been already discussed here or if there's a related issue already created on GitHub, so my apologies if this is a duplicate. When I update NVDA with Firefox opened, and the updated copy launches, I cannot navigate normally by web pages. With arrow keys I cannot access certain content, but if I press tab I hear all the content there should be in the page. the problem disappeared by restarting Firefox (closing and opening again). I'm sending this to give anyone who has had this problem the solution and to ask you if this should be escalated to a issue on gitHub. I ask this because it is a problem, but the solution is easy and I don't know the useful for developers ot knowing this.

Re: Windows 10 accessibility tools list at logon
Hmmm, well if you find out what is doing what you can probably report it, by the time you find out a manual check will probably yeald an update, I had a similar issue with my win10 workstation a little while ago after a feature update.

All things were updated, the automatics said nothing at all. I updated, the system did not start. I plugged it in and it did start but with a display problem. I reloaded the display drivers the last one I had and it worked. I then did a check for the drivers in the usual automated way and there were updates but I thought I'd check manually. And found a lot were never detected, in fact just about everything from the bios to the firmware was not updated, no wander I was having issues. I wouldn't trust my updater fully ever again. Sometimes updaters can give updates for the wrong hardware to intel did that for a while but has fixed itself.

Re: Windows 10 accessibility tools list at logon
Dan Beaver
Hi,
A while back I reported that Windows had started showing me a list of accessibility tools every time I logged onto my system. This was happening ever since Windows updated to the latest spring update.
I also reported that I turned off all my plug-ins and that the multiple daily freezes I was seeing had gone away. Well I am very glad to announce that the accessibility tool list popup has now also stopped showing up at logon. It looks like perhaps something in one of them was causing a condition where windows thought it needed to show me those tools.
Yes, I did try the suggestions folks posted to stop this behavior but none of those helped.
When I get the time to start turning my plug-ins on again I'll let you all know which ones cause these behaviors again. I have checked and all of my plug-ins do appear to be up to date.
