Re: I've had it with Firefox

Hi, Even high end systems struggle these days with large websites. It's not quite as pronounced as with a lower end machine but it is definitely still there and definitely hampers productivity.
I switched to google chrome and haven't looked back. So much smoother, quicker and more responsive. A low end transformer book t100 tablet with Chrome blows this surface book out of the water running latest firefox with both NVDA and Jaws.
Although video cards do make quite the difference on websites
with videos imbedded, like youtube. Seems even more so with Jaws
than NVDA.

You could have a valid point on video cards or even sound cards. It's known that different processors make a difference on what software is running Insider Dave

Personally I think that dialog should probably not save the response to it in nvda.ini and should be a separate configuration file because of this.

Use a keyboard for narrator all the time. Read the help, but basically it’s capslock up and down to move through the items words characters etc and narraotr left right to move through said items. Ther are other key strokes I dont’ know, things ot do with mouse mode and curser review but yeah I need to sit down and memmorise.

One of the real advantages of having automatically
save settings off is that you can experiment with different settings and never
worry about accidentally saving them. Or you can intentionally make
changes intended only for one session and not forget and accidentally have them
saved if you close the program or shut down the computer, which would shut down
the program. Users should be expected to learn certain basic things about
the programs they use. I consider it a real disservice to users to have
automatically save settings set as the default. There is such a thing as
too much automation.
A user might set something like
voice speed, or the voice to be used, or punctuation level, or who knows what
manually and accidentally save something there was no intention of
saving.

Which version are you running. All people with the last stable were asked as I recall. Its nothing sinister, its just feedback to find out where things are being used, what synths and what browsers etc I think. It will aid prioritising features and fixes and also can be pointed to if nvaccess are looking for funding.

The European regulation is called the General Data Protection Regulation and it merely formalises the provisions in the data protection laws across the EU It says everything that is or may be considered personal data has to be done as an opt in selection by the person whose data is being collected. It should eventually mean all EU web sites cookies policies must come clean and not install them if you opt out of those cookie policy reminders you are seeing a lot of now. It will only ask once if you have NVDA set to automatically save settings on exit. I did not have mine set that way and I didn't think of manually saving settings. That was why I got it every time around.

No it should not be. I don't think anything has changed from the old rc branch. However it might be some error that is caused by manual download being needed at the moment. I am not convinced its anything intentional. If it is an issue then it will be fixed as these are betas not releases after all. At the moment I've not been able to update master to beta in auto update form so its a bit early to say. What I'll do is go and look at the snap.

It only asks me once here as long as its the samebranch or snap or whatever that is being run. If you are getting it all the time then something odd is going wrong. I've seen it when the new version came out and also on the new snap branches but that is all.
