This is the stand-alone addon, and yes, is unfortunately against US and other country copyright law.

As for the try build being more useful with various apps, I wouldn't make that conclusion way early, as there are bugs to be found and fixed. The best comparison would be if the add-on is installed on current release and alpha builds. As for using other builds as portable versions (if I'm getting your statement right), it's up to you. But my advice still stands: the try build is something you should not use as a primary driver (that is, as an installed copy). Cheers, Joseph

I too am trying to use Edge more often. One question that I can't find the answer to is how to place a shortcut to Edge on the desktop. I see how to pin it to the start menu and task bar but not to the desktop. I tried finding the executable file for edge but can't even find that.

Re: Jeff's addon repository
Gene
Your message may have the effect of discouraging
use of add ons that are, as far as I know, legal and probably work. The
kind of notice you are discussing about requiring a synthesizer is for add ons
like the Dectalk Express add on. That add on allows the Dectalk Express to
work with NVDA. You are told in the information for that Add On that you
need the Dectalk Express to use it. The DecTalk Express is an external
synthesizer. So of course you need the synthesizer.
I believe there is an add on that allows the Double
Talk synthesizer to work as well. I assume the same warning is given
because that is an external synthesizer.
I'm not generalizing in any way about what add ons
are current and which ones may or may not work with Windows 10, for example and,
of course, NVDA is going to be changing over time and many add ons on that page
may not work with new versions of NVDA in the relatively near future. But
we need to be clear about synthesizer add ons. Those that talk about
needing a synthesizer are, as I recall the page, for those that work with
external synthesizers.

Re: I think Avast is a virus :-)
Well to be honest, the last time it happened I was able to run system restore.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
If you watch for the sneaky checkbox, you can catch it but you need to be super damn carefull when you run things. To be honest, ccleaner is getting more and more malware like, if I could have something that would work even if I had to donate or pay a little for support maybe. In the old days there used to be a program suite I used before it became evil crappy crapware by symontech. It was called norton system works, it had a windows fixer, a reg cleaner, a disk cleaner, a disk defrag and disk diagnosis and a system info tool. It did all I needed, it fixed issues before they became a problem, it was cpu intensive but it was accessible and in pure english. That all changed in 2003 though. There are still people that use it but its inaccessible crap now and is the first thing I get rid of. Worst for users that run out of subscription they happily get virused, a cousin that got a virus got it so bad he had to reformat all his computers, and lost everything, it was revealed he had run out of virus subscription that week. Its also why I won't go to subscription software, people do run out not intentionally but they do, its not fair to not be protected because they forgot, even if the software went back to a semi non functional state but thats the way it was.

The easiest way is to not install it in the first place.

I guess you will just have to reformat to get rid of it. Its a pitty ccleaner has gone this way, I still use it because its generally good and all I need to use is its cleaning function and most of the checkboxes are checked by default but to be honest, if this is its reality I don't know.

How have you tried to remove Avast in the
past? And if you really think its CCleaner, why not completely remove
CCleaner and see what happens?
But rather than do that, doing what I suggest below
may yield the wanted result without doing unnecessary and likely ineffective

I don't know how you might stop it. the

Re: NVDA and Skype
I agree, while some business was on skype I don't need it for business, and while you can still get classic, and yes while I can simply use it to record a lot of people in the family are using whatsapp now.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
The amount of time I actually need a digital phone as such has dropped and has been like that for 2 or 3 years now. Local and mobile phones are the way for me now. If a skype phone ever gets accessible enough to use then maybe I use it. But to be honest, skype7 will be my version till it doesn't work, Sadly just like in xp, as far as I care skype is crap not because it is but the way ms has gone about it is. I am happy classic is still up, thanks for that, but I'd prefer if ms just never updated skype classic ever again and left us to our own devices. Heck, even if they took all sponsorship, adds, extras like facebook and limited it to ms account only, there are others that agree with me online. Because of what has happened, I simply have had to shift my business to other platforms, luckily the stuff that should have gone on skype never happened, and to be honest, if skype really does start going to shut down, I will simply clear my contacts for skype, and simply never sign on again ever. Sadly, ms has eroded their ms account so much, skype, music, books, the potential and apps was enourmous. The app thing has never worked for me as such skype is well usage dropped and now the apps and such are hmmm, they have dropped music. Bar onedrive and office 360 which still may work there is like almost no reason to even bother with ms anything. Hopefully there will be a reason to use win10, actually the only real reason for me is I have knfb reader on my store account, thats about it though. And its debaitable if I even need that. I will be getting another newer system sooner or later, and I was thinking of a windows one a new one, but I know there are still 6th gen systems about. Those can run win7 and I just happen to have a copy of win7 about, I am seriously not impressed, true Ionly have 3-5 years left but on the other hand, if my system suddenly goes, in the short term my plan will to get another win7 or xp system, long term, I don't know where I will go, I need a windows system at least for games, the rest I will have to decide.
