However, there is not much activity in this issue lately. I am wondering if NVDA is still planning to finish this issue and if there is any estimate how soon?

I am looking forward towards this issue because I have an idea of another add-on that would be possible if new speech framework is implemented.

That looks as though it has done the trick. I just installed the latest add on the add on one then done a check for updates This time it told me there were none then gave me the option to close it. I can try a few more times later in the day but think i will get the same result saying there is none and the close button.

I just updated the add on to update add ons  and it got the latest.

 

I read to get the curtain one which i already have i had to go back a second time for it to see it and up date it so i did.

 

Only thing is it is still looking and i could not really cancel it it went on for quite a few minutes yet all the other add ons which i have were already updated.

 

I had to restart nvda so it would stop it from looking. Would that also be because the other add on is not up there? or a bug?

• Added an unassigned gesture to toggle screen curtain.

Hi!

I have just installed Add-On Updater 18.08.4, after downloading its installer using the link in the email below, but, strangely, “check for add-on updates” no longer appears in the NVDA Tools menu. I have also had no notification of any updates to add-ons today, including Add-On Updater: it’s thanks to reading emails from this NVDA list that I knew about the updates to this add-on.

While using a previous version of Add-On Updater, I chose to have it notify me of add-on updates, so would that make the “check for add-on updates” option disappear from the Tools menu?

Of an interesting note if you have a newer 4th gen intel or up they don't seem to have this issue but first gen i3s probably do my i5 3rd gen does boot but its under preasure, if the system needs a user profile repair, a good reformat or a really big crash its usually in the summer months.

I had this happen in the hot weather, got a new psu, got the system cleaned out it simply wouldn't boot.

If it is the same as my old i3 workstation then once it gets cold it will work again I assume anyway it is because it now is.

As for default state: starting from the next release, it’ll be off by default.

Computer gets turned off have a cup of coffee then boot back up the computer from off.

 

When it boots back up the screen curtain goes back on so then if the wife wants to use it i  will turn it off.

She says she can not see the screen to do it lol rof. I use it all the time that way i tell her.

 

 

I think may be the default should be off until you turn it on.

 

I am guessing if the sighted partner wanted to use the pc and did not know they would be stumped. On my computer when ever one of my computers boots up nvda comes on and so would the screen curtain until things are ironed out.

 

Will a short cut be created so it can be turned on and off quickly with out going through the menus?

 

By the way where i hear the beeps could down the track maybe have it say screen curtain on or off?

I do not know what others think but but would be easier than the beep. I think it is high beep for on and low for off?
