Hi.
Well I must say after updating I chose to use the 64 bit addition of thunderbird from mozilla ftp as I thought why not.
What I found out is that while most to the dialogs are accessible parts of the addon search dialog and install dialogs are not, thats fine because I have no intention of installing addons.
The cpu usage is a bit up, also it will not honor your intergration settings, it kept asking me and I had to tell it to not ask me again.
Otherwise, generally things are accessible, and descriptions have improved.
I am only talking general setup of things.
I do wander though if there is a way to install addons to thunderbird without the installer web interface, as its the brouser in the addons site which has access issues, the site itself is fine in a brouser so if I download an addon say google search I want a way to load it.
Bar that most of it seems fine though its only for email that I have set up, no news, no rss nothing like that.
I havn't bothered with chatting either.
But at least thunderbird quantom is not the same as firefox quantom.
It does seem though that I can drop back to the older esr and it will be fine enough.

Re: Microsoft Word 2016 stop working.
If you alt+tab away to another program and back to Word does it work again? Alternatively, if you restart NVDA does it work?
Another question - does it always happen, or only with particular documents? EG does it happen more if you have a document with track changes on, lots of changes and comments, or does it happen if you open a blank document in word and start typing a paragraph of text?
NVDA does have a log, and if you send me a copy of it with a description of what is happening, I'd be happy to have a look. You can find the log in your %temp% directory. See this page for more information on the log: https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda/wiki/LogFilesAndCrashDumps If you send me a log to info@... - ideally at log level debug, that would be most helpful.
Kind regards
Quentin.

Subject: [nvda] Microsoft Word 2016 stop working.
Hi everybody,
I would like to ask to people who work with Microsoft Word like me if you have the same problem.
During my job, Microsoft Word stops working and until I don't close or restart NVDA it doesn't unlock.
It happens since a lot of months. I've hoped that through different NVDA updates, Microsoft Word updates and Microsoft Windows update it can be solved, but it continues, so I'd like to ask here.
I'd like to specify that the computer I work on is specifically set only for job.
So few application are installed, and everything is licensed.
Operating System: Windows 10 Pro 1803
Microsoft Word: Home and Students Version 1806 (build 10228.20104)
NVDA: version 2018.2.1
Synthetizer_ IVONA, italian Carla
I've made a lot of tests. Microsoft Office tries to understand via Remote Control, but no success.
When Microsoft Word stops working, also NVDA doesn't give me anymore audiofeedback.
There is a log file for NVDA I can share with you to understand better what's happening?
Thanks so much.
Daniele.

Dear friends, in replying a message, I gave you some sort of small info regarding withdrawing micro soft’s decision of closure of Skype classic on September first, here is a detailed info! Earlier this summer, Microsoft announced that they would be ending support for version 7.0 of classic Skype in September. If that news didn’t sit well with you, it looks like you will have a bit more time to use the software. In a forum post where the Skype team was asking for feedback about the update, the team has updated the post to say that they will not be ending support Skype 7 and will extend the deadline. The company did not provide a new timeline for the end of life of the product but did say that they will update the post again with more information in the future. The full post can be read below: The team says that this change is based on customer feedback but is ambiguous about the future of the platform. This is an awkward backward step for the Skype team as they previously said that Skype 8 had all the functionality that users needed but clearly that is not the case. For the past couple of weeks, Microsoft has been aggressively pushing users to upgrade from version 7 to 8 but it’s clear that this update process has been far from painless. I have reached out to Microsoft about this change to see if they will provide any additional information about when this product will be retired. For now, if you are using the classic version of Skype, you will be able to do so for the foreseeable future. That being said, at some point you will have to migrate to a newer version of the software. With regards from Inamuddin with the Skype ID: Charlsdarwin1 You can contact me via gmail: inamuddin09@... Dear friends, I’m very happy to let you know that Microsoft has withdrawn its decision of ending support to Skype classic on September first. Now you have enough time to learn Skype Electron as far as time table of ending support is concern, Microsoft didn’t say anything. The only thing it said that it will give detailed information near future! As far as answering key command is concern, ctrl+shift+p and ctrl+shift+k are audio and video calls respectively! Hi
I have not gone through all the short cuts for skype either I copied the list from them and tried a few of them but not all. it just might be a focus thing with nvda not speaking that shorcut when preformed?

I do not mind the automatically answer part saves rushing and trying to figure which part of the screen to be in. It would of made sense to have left the old short cut keys from skype 7 in it.

You can jump down by letter H to its heading then go down to the link then press the enter key where it will take you to another page.
For some reason i could not put in a plug in to do it and it wanted it on every page so have gone down this other route. There is a heading that says some thing like translate this website to another language and a link to the translate page. The default
language is english and the website main page is already in the edit section to translate. it is then a matter of changing it to another language then having it translate to it. Just after the language combo box you want it to go to is where you can read it
in another language. it also seems if you click on one of the links the next page is also translated but only on that page i have it pointing to off my website.
You will see what i mean when it is translated.

Re: NVDA & IE11, figured it out
Gene New Zealand <hurrikennyandopo@...>
Hi
the section in the user guide that might or will help you is section 6 to 6.2 in the user guide.
the first part is about browse mode i think it also mentions about going between modes with the nvda key + space bar.
6.1 is about single letter navigation keys which you use in browse mode.
6.2 is the elements list if you want to use it to jump through the links etc quickly. Other people might do it with the single letter navigation keys.

If you restart nvda does it work again, or has it got to be word or the whole machine that has to be rebooted. I think for us to help we would need you to set logging level to input output or debug. Then run it till it happens. and see if you can get the old log the next time you boot nvda from the %temp% folder. assuming you are aloud to of course. Brian

Operating System: Windows 10 Pro 1803 Microsoft Word: Home and Students Version 1806 (build 10228.20104) NVDA: version 2018.2.1 Synthetizer_ IVONA, italian Carla
I've made a lot of tests. Microsoft Office tries to understand via Remote Control, but no success.
When Microsoft Word stops working, also NVDA doesn't give me anymore audiofeedback. There is a log file for NVDA I can share with you to understand better what's happening?
Thanks so much.

Microsoft Word 2016 stop working.
Daniele.

Sometimes if you leave your computer up for an extended period of time it causes things to go screwy.

Hi In W10 it's Windows+i for settings, select Devices from categories list then arrow down to "Autoplay" in list of topics.
Cheers Chris

Hi, Could someone please remind me what the key command is to bring up the menu that gives us choices for USB drives such as open folder to view files or take no action? I haven't used it in a while and I can't remember to save my life. Chris

Yes. And apparently, a restart of my computer was enough to fix it. At least for the moment. Very odd indeed..

Weird Focus Bug in Browse mode with Chrome
So I'm finding that from around this morning, when using chrome I can't seem to get focus to track properly. When I use my arrow keys to find links, they aren't able to be activated. Using Focus mode and the tab key though, I can tab t links and other objects, but when I go back t browse mode I find that my focus is in a different location than t should be. This only happens with chrome for some reason, and I'm using the latest version, 2018.2.1, japanese version. Any thoughts?
