Ok, that works. Thank you. A stupid workaround, but hopefully amazon will
change things back, not holding my breath, or the NVDA developers will
figure out how to work with this kind of change.

I need to correct 1 thing I said not alt tab but shift tab gets you to the
buy it now button and it works I've been doing it for the last 2 days!

to recap it's check submit queery then spacebar insert then shift tab to buy
now!

Thanks all for your messages and thoughts. Maybe it's time to open a
ticket
now that I know it's not me.
Incidentally, I tried it also on the portable ESR Firefox, one still in
the
version 52 series, latest Chrome, and latest IE, and all are showing the
no
numbered heading level. For me, tabbing around didn't work. I'll try
Travis's suggestions in a while.

Thanks, Travis. I will file this info away because I, too, use Kindle
Unlimited. I used it just the other day to grab a book and it worked
just fine: the correct buttons showed in the correct places and showed
as actual buttons. thank you. I wouldn't have even thought to route the
NVDA cursor to the buttton because I'm not as familiar with that as I
really need to be. I never used the virtual mouse cursor in System
Access when I used it and rarely ever used the JAWS cursor in JAWS when
I used that because I didn't really understand how it worked, but it
sounds like it's time for me to learn to understand it. LOL! Thanks again.

I'm using an older version of firefox! and a sighted friend noticed the same thing it's an amazon update issue! I called and complained and he told me to tell others to do the same and maybe the next update will get it fixed!

Re: NVDA 2018, excel row and column headers

Just curious, but will NVDA recognize row and column titles if they are defined in the Excel spreadsheet itself, rather than after the fact by telling the screen reader which row is the column titles and which column is the row titles?

I know that JAWS will pick up on row and column titles defined within the spreadsheet without needing to define it to the screen reader.  Of course that means either the creator of the spreadsheet, or you the screen reader user, need to have defined these in Excel itself.

Dear Dave,

Use NVDA + shift+c for column headings and NVDA + shift+r for row titles. If the Title row continues after a break with a blank cell, just place your cursor on the first cell of the new block in the first row as at first and press NVDA+ c.

All the best,

I started a mailing list where I hope to, eventually, have companies and otherwise looking for accessibility testers post to the list from the outside and then users can reply whenever. I am currently building the wiki page, companies that hire people to do accessibility testing and the like. If anybody wants to subscribe, although, there is 0 traffic because I created it 5 minutes ago, send an email to the below. I also will include paid research studies, as well. Paid accessibility surveys too. The wiki is not live yet but should be tomorrow.

doesn't navigate to it. I've also discovered the only for me to click
the button is to use the route command (nvda-numpad minus) to route
the nvda cursor to it, then press nvda-shift-numpad enter. (yes, I
need the shift, without it, it activates an entirely different page
which has ne bearing on what I'm trying to do). No idea why the shift
works and w/o the shift doesn't, but there it is. That's the only
I've managed to get my books into the kindle app using the web site.
Interestingly enough, using safari on the Iphone doesn't have this issue.

Thanks, Danni. I'll try that next time.

Thanks all for your messages and thoughts. Maybe it's time to open a ticket
now that I know it's not me.
Incidentally, I tried it also on the portable ESR Firefox, one still in the
version 52 series, latest Chrome, and latest IE, and all are showing the no
numbered heading level.

Up through yesterday, I had no trouble buying Kindle books through Amazon. Things were labeled, and easily findable. Today the area of the page where the buying options are seems to have changed.
There is now a new heading called "Buying Options." It's the first heading on the page. The interesting thing about this heading is that there is no number associated with it. Instead of saying "heading level 1," as the heading below it says, all is says is "heading."
I think the buy and read now links, along with the price that used to be readily visible are now hidden inside the new "heading" area. Arrowing down once leads to the "add to list" checkbox.
This has been confirmed both in Firefox 64 and Chrome 64 using Windows 7 64-bit and NVDA 2018.2.1.
If anyone else can confirm, and can have any idea on how to deal with this, that would be appreciated.
Here's an example. For the US, this book is free at least today, hence why I chose it, so trying to buy it won't cost anybody any money. And, yes, the page is the same whether a book is free or not:

Re: java access bridge

JM Casey <crystallogic@...>

Only the database part of OpenOffice does. Not sure about Libre yet.

Although it took a while for me to uncover this, I believe newer versions of the Oracle (?) Java Runtime Environment include the Access Bridge, so you don’t have to download it. However I believe it still has to be enabled from within command prompt. I never did end up doing much of anything with it so maybe someone else should step in….

Open Office and Libra Office haven't needed JAVA in years.

Only if you have software that needs java. I think parts of Open
office/Libra Office need it the database etc, possibly.

That's right, NVDA key 5.  Sorry about the error.

Actually, the NVDA command for reporting dynamic changes is NVDA+5 not f5.

Try the command NVDA f5.  It toggles between report dynamic content changes on and off.  You want it on.

Is there a way to get NVDA to read what is being shown when you run
something using a command prompt or command prompt admin?

Oops! Forget my previous email, it was all my bad. I had Focus Moves Navigator Object set to off instead of on. Sorry for the false alarm!
