Re: ccleaner new version
Roger Stewart
Can you please provide a link to the latest portable version? I tried Googling it and there were several links there, but I tried them all and none of them seemed to work. I found the download button but when I activate it it just clicks and shows a screen shot of the Ccleaner itself but no download occurred on any of those links I found.

Hi, Gene is correct, although I should emphasize that 2018.3 (at least in beta form) will bring more than improved support for Windows 10. Some of the other features include automatic braille display detection, announcing grammar errors in Chrome if exposed by web authors, support for BrailleNote QT (my work), improved list of languages in NVDA’s general settings panel, and a whole bunch of changes for developers. Cheers, Joseph

Do you have service pack 1 installed on the Windows machine? that is necessary. As far as I know, NVDA still supports machines withService Pack 1.
How important is it for you to run a current version. While I don't follow what's new in NVDA closely since I have no need of what has been changed, my impression is that for awhile, most changes are to keep the program current and improve accessibility in Windows 10. Therefore, you might do well running the last version that doesn't require service pack 1 if you can't or don't want to upgrade the machine.

Under the heading "Windows edition", it'll say which version of Windows 7 is installed (eg: Home Premium), and underneath that it will say "Service Pack 1" if it is installed. Antony.

I remember that became a requirement for some version of NVDA a while ago, so it'll still be true for the current version too. Antony.

What is the address for accessibility that you wrote your message to? I filed a bug/problem report, but it usually takes them quite some time to even get to those (though in my experience, they actually seem to listen, eventually).

I'm not willing to run an older version of a browser to do so. Another thing is that Facebook should make this test possible for the blind to pass without much hassle. Has anyone else seen this new test pop up? These things say we're not human because we can't read or solve a picture puzzle. How ridiculous!!!

Re: Can one selectively cut and past text from a wordd graphic identifier without the graphic?
Brian,
Yes, absolutely, but exactly how one does this depends on what version of Office one is using. For Word 2016:
For Word 2010:
I do not know when "the split" in style occurred, so Word 2013 might follow either one of the above methods. I believe 2010 and older all use the method mentioned for 2010. -- Brian - Windows 10 Home, 64-Bit, Version 1803, Build 17134 The psychology of adultery has been falsified by conventional morals, which assume, in monogamous countries, that attraction to one person cannot co-exist with a serious affection for another. Re: Can one selectively cut and past text from a wordd graphic identifier without the graphic?
My default means of doing this would be to open the NVDA speech viewer and then copy the text that NVDA speaks from there. I suspect if you can navigate to the graphic in question and can view its properties it will have an ALT attribute set, but I can't remember how to do that.

Can one selectively cut and past text from a wordd graphic identifier without the graphic?
Brian's Mail list account
So I have a .docx file, when loaded into word, I can hear a description of the graphic. What I would like to do is cut the description but not the actual graphic and put it and the text of the document into a text editor.
It seems not to be possible. Selecting the graphic tries to paste it all, which of course fails. using object nav and the click three times to go to clipboard does not work either. Am I being thick here? Short of copying it by typing it, and its quite long there seems to be no way to get at this description but somebody put it in, one assumes so I'd have thought emulating what they did, should reveal it. How? Brian bglists@... Sent via blueyonder. Please address personal E-mail to:- briang1@..., putting 'Brian Gaff' in the display name field.

Thanks for the info below about CCleaner 5.46, with the Dropbox link to the new .ini file. Talking of links, would it be possible to post one here where we can easily get the portable version of CCleaner, please? When my current portable version tells me there is an update, I'm taken to the Piriform site when I hit the "yes" button, and I can't find a download link for portable CCleaner there. Doing a Google search brings up different results every time, and the sites in the Google search results can be confusing anyway. Thanks in advance for your reply. Bye for now! From Clare

Here is the updated ini file if you don't want to bother with it. https://www.dropbox.com/s/m15toyhbsmdy5fb/ccleaner.ini?dl=1 For those that want to know what is changed. options/privacy needs to be reset because the preffs string is different. The only other thing I have done is clear out the version strings that existed in there and rebuilt the ics program version string data. For all the rest, while you can get the slim installer now I have portable it just works. Things that have been changed include fixing the privacy setting issues with extra info added for that option including more datashheets for it. The adjusting of the monitering so it says smart cleaning instead to explain what it does. If you turn off smart cleaning ccleaner shouldn't stay loaded at startup anymore. There is supposed to be a checkbox revamp and some more descriptions but I have yet to see any change, and to be honest now that I can use portable easily enough I don't know if I will ever go back to installed ever again.
