I'm talking about Windows API. In order for audio ducking to work, a screen reader must tell Windows that it wishes to indeed duck audio (this requires certain privileges). I'll talk audio ducking during the upcoming NVDA presentation. Cheers, Joseph

how to disable drop box badge
Arlene
Hi, I don’t know if this will work with NVDA. This person who gave me this message uses jaws 17. I don’t think this will bother you using NVDA This is if you have office or word. Dropbox Badge is a rather unfriendly floating window that shows up if you work with Dropbox and Microsoft Word or Office. You can disable this window by doing the following: Go to the system tray and arrow down to dropbox. Press enter on it. You should hear a prompt to press enter to get into the menu. Press enter; you're in a list of items. Arrow down till you hear preferences. Press enter. You're in a dialog box. Tab until you get to dropbox badge; you'll be in a combo box. Press alt and down arrow. Go down to the last item, which says "never show." Press enter on it. Tab to the OK button and press enter. This gets you out of dropbox and out of the system tray.

You should contact our fearless leader Joseph Lee! He is the one who is developing all sorts of goodies for Windows 10. The more feedback you can provide to him such as the NVDA log file will better help to resolve these issues. Joseph has been working real hard to fill in the missing pieces in Windows 10 and NVDA! Hope this helps?

TitleBar announcements in NVDA
Carlos
Hi Joseph/All:
The reason for NVDA to announce Explorer in the title bar is because the desktop is integrated into File Explorer. I've noticed this since Windows 7. And, continues be be the case in all newer versions of Windows. This is clearly not an NVDA issue since Windows has been implementing the integration of the Desktop into File Explorer in all versions of Windows since Win 7. I look forward to the new mailing list so that all messages can be routed by level of importance! -- Carlos Gonzalez - Los Angeles, CA. - gmjc341961@gmail.com

Hi all, I believe there was a ticket that was raised regarding this problem. If I remember correctly, this is something NVDA has no control over (when there is no title for a window, NVDA resorts to using the name of the program). I’ll keep an eye on this issue as we have people who were able to confirm this. Cheers, Joseph
