Sapi 5 of Espeak
Brian's Mail list account <bglists@...>
OK I have now installed it but beware, its not as easy to get the variants as in nvda. I have had to import my voices after the fact. What you need to do before installing is find out where the voices you want are in nvda, and copy them from the v folder somewhere.
Now noting the file names when you install the espeak sapi five version you can add the voice names as the installer asks you to. you can have several. Do not worry that they do not exist yet. Once installed, go to the installed folder of the sapi 5 version find its v folder and copy the voices in. Then you can use nvdas voice selection to test them in the sapi 5 synth. Note that they do seem slower, but at least you can have the voice you like this way as those shipped with the package have had many of the ones nvda has cut, including my Quincy. bloody cheek"! I jest. However put it back to the native espeak if you were using it. Then in jaws select the profiles and the synth and hey presto in the list of voices is dear old Quincy which I can configure. of course in Jaws you can have all sorts of voices for all sorts of things. its all a bit overkill, but also it seems to work in other software that uses sapi 5 as well which was what I wanted to do. I like the search option on that site for finding movies. Also David, I noticed in a second message you wrote that you can play them on your NLS player, and due to some noise here I thought you wrote on your prior message that you can’t, so excuse my earlier message indicating that you can indeed play stereo content on an NLS player. Just want to admit that I was wrong about the blind mice megamall site not being accessible. I just became a member. To the person who said that the site is not accessible, you have to look at the form in browse mode. Then you can fill it out. I looked at the site in both firefox and internet explorer. This is a great lesson to learn for all of us--not to jump to conclusions.

Re: Problems using NVDA with a Java application
Radu Coravu <radu_coravu@...>
Hi Brian,
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
Thanks for pointing out there is a GitHub project for NVDA, I did not find out this information starting from NVDA's main web page so this is why initially I wrote on the mailing list. The problem our Java-based application experiences with NVDA would be comparable to this: Assume you are reading an HTML web page which has in the middle the main content and on the sides various commercials (or some additional information). These commercials (side information) auto update quite often without taking the keyboard focus. When such an update automatically occurs for the side information, instead of continuing reading the main HTML content where the keyboard focus is, NVDA would start reading the most recently updated side information. Anyway I think I found a similar issue to what I'm experiencing on the GitHub project and I added my feedback to it: https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda/issues/5989 Regards, Radu Radu Coravu <oXygen/> XML Editor http://www.oxygenxml.com

Re: NVDA’s compatibility with the Braille Me Braille display from NBP?
Christo de Klerk
I think that if you look at it now, you
will find that a huge amount of work has been done on it. We
started importing and distributing them here in South Africa
recently and people are very happy with the machine. Remember that the Orbit itself went through a disastrous launch and was withdrawn from the market for months. These teething problems happen with new stuff. But to return on topic, the add-on for NVDA provided by Innovision makes the device quite compatible with NVDA and I believe that will be improved further with time. Innovision is very responsive to suggestions. Regards Christo

Hi!

Using it right now with no ill effects. Win 7 64 bit, NVDA installed (not portable). Braille display autodetection worked successfully for a Handy Tech device. Is it expected that if I unplug and plug back in the Braille device it should also autodetect? Because that didn't work. In other words, autodetection sees the device on startup of NVDA but not when it later appears on the system. Will test later on Win 10. Best, Felix Am Mo., 10.
