I've also noticed this  issue lately. You might try www dot amazon dot com slash access. I've  written this out because my BrailleNote Touch doesn't always translate web addresses correctly. Anyway, I haven't tried buying a Kindle book using this  site, but I was able to order an Echo Dot today without any trouble so it's worth a looksee. Hope this helps.

I said what I know, based on years of seeing people ask for invitations on lists and successfully signing up.  I don't recall when I last saw such a conversation but I think it was somewhere between a year or two ago.  Sorry I had the unmitigated Gaul to disagree with your inerrancy.

If others agree with you, fine.  I'll take that into account and if there is good reason to do so, a number of people agreeing and no one disagreeing, or those who disagree seem to present weak reasons compared with those who agree, I shall consider that I may be wrong.  But I'm not just going to crumble into a quivering mass of doubt and concession just because you make a statement.
I'm perfectly willing to admit that I'm wrong when presented with good evidence.  Please present such evidence if there is a disagreement and I hope others present their evidence or experiences as well.

Hi, here's another trick. If all you find is the "buy for others" button, it's OK to click on that and put in your own email address. Amazon will send you an email with the link to your book in it, you click that link to accept your gift. There ya go, you just bought a book for you, from you. I personally used that 3 times last week, and it worked well.

For those interested, The way I do it now on Amazon for Kindle books is through object navigation.

From the top of the page, use the h key to get to the first heading, an unnumbered level heading called "buying options."

Using Desktop layout as that's what I know. All commands using the num pad.

Use the nvda+2 combination to enter the buying options dialogue.

nvda+6 and nvda+4, to move back and forward through the dialogue.

Here you'll hear the regular price of the book, digital price if different, kindle price if lower or free, if it's available through kindle unlimited, and finally a buy now button.

NVDA+enter, to activate your selection.

Again, desktop layout, all choices in this case using the num pad

No, it's not addware.  There is a setting in chrome that allows those popups about tech news, and my son knows which one it is, but I personally haven't been able to find it in my copy of chrome, so I need to ask him again which setting it is to turn it off.  The news titles pop up in the system notifications area on the pc.  The setting in chrome turns those pop ups off, so they won't do that anymore.  I've looked through my settings, and couldn't find which setting was causing it, but I'll ask him again and repost here after I get it turned off.

Those don't bother me as much as the flippin' login to my apple drive that keeps popping up every half hour or so, which seems also to be triggered by my first opening of chrome after a reboot.  I'd really like to turn those off.  I'll log in to the silly thing when I want to use it, not until then, so stop asking me already.

It doesn't imply that the person hasn't used it in the past.  Someone may ask because they want to resume using it after not having done so for awhile.  Also, I expect that you can set up an account.  People were doing so for years, long after Webvisum was monitored by the developers.  What people need to do is ask already existing members for an invitation.  I've seen many such requests on different lists.  Because Webbvism isn't monitored by the developers any longer, you can't get an invitation from the developers as you could years ago.  But I see no reason that you still can't from already existing members.

I guess I need to qualify "doesn't work" with "presuming you do not already have a Webvisum account."

Those who established one ages ago report being able to use the latest signed version of the add-on up through Firefox 52.

When I hear, "Does Webvisum work?," it has the implied proviso, "if I want to start using it now," and in that case the answer is no.  I haven't known of anyone being able to get an invitation generated for ages.  And it definitely is abandonware at this juncture.  I fully expect that one day, when it's least expected, it will finally break for existing users.

But those for whom it's still working should ride that proverbial horse until it drops from under them.

Rumola still seems to work under Chrome.

Hi Paul,

Press WINDOWS+. or WINDOWS+; to open the emoji panel, then either right arrow through the items in the current section, press tab to move to the sections and arrows to choose a new section, or start typing to search for emoji, eg "cake" 🍰, "Smiling" ☺or "firetruck" 🚒 (as with many other search fields, you don't necessarily have to type the full thing - I typed "fire" to narrow the results down to a handful to get the fire truck).

Press ENTER to insert your chosen emoji, and escape to close the panel.

but I am not entirely positive, there is still something here and there.

Like, I have already experienced a number of times, that I used the

reason it gets stuck.

With alt tab I can then go back to the text where I wanted to place an

emoji.

but it is not going well. Only after I have restarted nvda again can I

place an emoticon again.

are there more people who have the same problem?

with nvda 2018.2 I did not have these problems.

do I have to update the emoticon add-on?

is it available?

Re: COLUMN AND ROW HEADINGS

Quentin Christensen

To go one step further with that, if you never want column and row headings reported in say Firefox, but do want them in Excel, you can use "configuration profiles" to do it.

1. Set NVDA up how you "normally" want it.
2. Open the program you want setup differently (eg Firefox)
3. Choose "Configuration profiles" from the NVDA menu, or press NVDA+control+p.
4. Press alt+n to create a new profile
5. Press tab to move to "Use this profile for".
6. Press the right arrow to select the "Current application (Firefox)" radio button.
7. Press enter to create the profile (the name that we left blank between steps 4 and 5 is automatically filled in with the program name - Firefox in this case).
8. In Firefox, make any changes, such as turning off reporting of row and column headers.

Now that the profile is setup, any changes you make to most NVDA settings while that program is the active window, are saved to its profile (eg, changing keyboard echo, the speech rate, punctuation or even synthesizer).

(as always, for more useful tips like this, check out "Basic Training for NVDA" in eBook, audio or Braille from http://www.nvaccess.org/shop/)

  • Press Alt+E twice to go to “row and Column headings”.

Re: itunes latest issue

Yes it does, I was getting close to getting into apple devices, my aunt well has this, they had issues with icloud, most of that is fixed, I wouldn't complain but basically the entire window does not display, on the desktop itunes, not sure about the app, not sure about dolphin or jaws,

But a lot of us need to contact apple about this though I had a job to even get accessibility the main support tech was almost completely useless, I had to go through itunes billing to get a real human the drone I had was useless, scarily enough, when I reached apple access the person I got sounded almost but not quite like the eva cortana voice, so who knows if that was real or not but who knows I am sure it was <grin>

Hi.

Well, just updated to itunes 12.9, the main window is not visible with nvda, narator can read it on win10 sort of but not fully, nvda just treats it as a blank link.

After ages managed to talk to apple but they think its just an nvda issue, who knows if they will actually fix this, and I was thinking I would be going to eventually buy an i device.

Re: [SUSPECTED SPAM] [nvda] link for firefox 52 esr last version to support full webvisum

It does work if you use an older version of Firefox.  52X is the last version it works with.  I advise people who want to use Webvisum to use a portable version that it works with and use the current version of Firefox or Chrome for general browsing.  That way, you don't have to sacrifice security to use Webvism.

If you are going to use firefox as your main browser, you can either use the installed version or another portable version.

Does Webvisum still work?
No.  It is abandonware and no one who has tried to contact the developers has had any success.
