a nice surprise with rc3 and whatsaap web
Alexandre Alves Toco
Hi, I don’t know if this issue was addressed intentionally. Before rc3, if I was in WhatsApp web and changed to a browser or mail (I believe it was related with componentes that handle html), when I switched back to WhatsApp web, I couldn’t read the messages. So I had to close and open the application again. This problem is solved and now I am enjoying to use WhatsApp web at the same time I do other things in the web... Thank to the developers!

Hello. I was wondering what is the latest version of the virtual audio cable software to work with NVDA and I did go to the website and could not get that to launch which is version 43 and I tried an older version think it was 15 I did install that version and I had to get my husband who is sighted to completely uninstall the older version to get my sound back that is so weird how when the computer restarted the sounds were disabled. So he had to uninstall the older version 15 and I got my sound back. I did install the add on but is there another program that would work in recording music or whatever from the computer that does work with NVDA I did try audacity but no luck there. How about gold wave and since am on windows 10 with the latest update from the spring 2018 update to the current version what would work as to what I have it is getting harder to find anything that is accessible. So any help would be awesome. Not sure what you are doing but Virtual recorder is what I use to record stuff from the computer that has no record function. Of course you need to turn off system sounds or they will be on any recording.

I was under the impression that windows 10 did not need the patch since rudimentary audio drivers were loaded just as in start with network. I have patched windows 7 successfully recently I had to use a bit of turning off uac and use the admin account to install the patch, but as you say it might be more complicated for 10, but if its not required....

Deleting comments in word
Akshaya Choudhary
When i locate a comment in word and press the application key to interact with it, no option regarding editing or deleting the comment shows up. however, if I do the same while positioning the cursor in the comment frame itself, using the review ribbon in word, the options are available. In brief, my context menu, which appears after pressing the application key, doesn't show the option for editing or deleting the comment. I have crossed checked the mark ups are visible in the document and are even identified by NVDA.
anybody facing the similar issue? Any suggestion is welcome. -- Regards, Sociohack

I always try to keep things up to date of course, and tonight I ran Jaws, for which I have a licence obtained very cheaply in a sale. This so far has meant a couple of major updates, but this evening not having run it for some days, I did yet another update. All seemed to go well and I tested it and saw no real difference. I then closed it and ran nvda. What happened next was strange and I have now duplicated it three times. Nvda could not read the menu you get when you go to shut down the pc with alt/f4, it could not read the menus of Firefox and many other programs, nor did it take single key entry to the desktop icons and say for example Waterfox when I hit w. The solution to this turned out to be control alt delete and on the protected desktop picking cancel, whereupon everything was sweetness and light. I have to stress that before the Jaws update, nothing like this was the case. Now I'm not saying that its a deliberate ploy to sabotage nvda, but it does make me think that Jaws is not leaving windows as it found it, so please beware. If this happens to you its not nvda playing up, just windows left in a strange state by Jaws. Note I am using Windows 7. I notice that Jaws has a major update for Skypes cock ups, erm improvements sorry.. End of public service announcement. Goodnight! Brian bglists@blueyonder.co.uk Sent via blueyonder. Hi Jonathan, Good call, In general ZT was cooperating with NVDA for a while,
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
except for the paragraph beeps. Then the problems arose where ZT would no longer read be sentences. I think the paragraph beeps were there all along, but indeed could have been a conflict between the two programs. I'm told that the Win10 magnifier is pretty good. maybe when I upgrade to it, I can abandon ZT and relably use NVDA again.

Do you have any sort of USB sound device with an output? For instance, I have a Yeti microphone which also has a headphone jack on it. Narrator defaults its output to that, at least it did when I had to reload Windows, I haven't messed with the new safe mode stuff yet.
