This is a great screen reader with a great upside. One of the best things is that you can see how things are worked on. Fixes are implemented fairly quickly. Welcome to the list.

Re: samsung magision

There appears to be a command line version of Samsung Magician, but only for the Linux platform.

I have seen one reference to using SEGUI0.exe, but it's not comprehensive at all.

You could look at SSDReady to see if it might work, as it has a free version and it might be accessible.  Seagate's SeaTools is generally compatible with multiple brands,  too.  There is a SeaTools CLI (Command Line Interface) version, too.

Other vendor specific options seem to be very specific to the vendor in question.  To bad there's not something

Hi, is there a tool besides samsung magision that will give the total reads and writes to the samsung ssd or does samsung have a command line as the gui isn't accessible.

Re: NVDA Remote, an add-on whose function could be implemented in NVDA

Antony Stone

Do we know whether:

a) the reaction of the core NVDA developers was that the code for NVDA Remote
is small enough to consider including in the main application instead of as an
add-on

b) the source code for the server part of NVDA Remote (without which it has
very limited application, being restricted to direct routed PC-to-PC
connectivity, which is seldom achievable across the Internet) is available
under a suitable licence?

I've never quite understood why the server-side code wasn't released under the
same licence as the client-side code, unless there's something in the way the
communications are encrypted which is rather less secure than the developers
(of NVDA Remote) might like people to believe.

I just checked a Blindtech message and a TechTalk message.  Neither one has this link.  If it was a generally available link in the past, it isn't now when getting messages by e-mail.

Re: contact you off list

Antony,

I currently have a ticket open with Groups.io support on this, as the same behavior is not being displayed on any other Groups.io group to which I subscribe, and I changed at least half of them to "Individual Message" status this morning so that I'd get individual messages.   To a one, they're all showing the groups.io standard link cluster fully and correctly after the phrase, "You receive all messages sent to this group."

I will report back on what I hear from Mark Fletcher (the owner and primary tech support for Groups.io) regarding this.  It will probably be a few days, as this is not a critical issue.

Not the sort of thing I'd expect to be rearing its ugly head this long in to the history of Groups.io, but perhaps it's always been there and there's something distinctive about this group's custom footer content that's breaking it.  That's up to Mark to flesh out.

Hi Jenny,
Fact is, I didn't invite you...I just informed you of its existence and helped you sign up. The list is open to everyone. In any case, I love nothing better than to help people and see them settled and happy in whatever they want to do, and so it was a pleasure. Welcome to the list.
There are over a thousand members here all looking for new ways to make NVDA dance to their tune as it were, and so you will see a fair few messages covering a very wide range of topics.
I'm sure if you have any questions about NVDA, and that can be anything from configuration to software cooperation, chances are there'll likely be someone on this list who works in that kind of area who can help you.
Anyways. Enough rambling from me. All's left to say from my side is, hope you find the list useful as I do.
Cheers,
Damien.

Anthony,

Below you will see what came to me just now in an e-mail message, as I changed my subscription to receive them for a short while.

I hasten to add, and immediately, that you are correct and the link is not there.  It appears that a feature has been added, which was not there at the outset, giving Group Owners the ability to customize the footers to the group's messages and Nimer must have done so at some point.   I have old NVDA list messages and digests, as well as some from the JAWS for Windows group and the Windows 10 for screen reader user's group, and all have what had been the "Groups.io" standard collection at the end.  I will apologize in public, too.

As far as I'm concerned, though, it is an utterly bone-headed decision by any group owner, particularly for a blind or low-vision technology group, to remove the "Reply to Sender" link that groups.io does generate from their link collection in the footers.

I am also in the process of researching when the ability for Group Owners to customize the footers came into existence, or if it's always been there and just so seldom used that I've now only seen it twice in the time I've been on Groups.io.

Yes Matt. This what I’ve been trying to describe to Quentin etc. on this list. I’m running NVDA 2018.3 RC 3 also its annoying. This needs work and should be worked on since today is IOS 12 day and people should do a backup before doing an update later on today.

Hi folks.

Just thought I'd give iTunes another try.

So, I'm using the snapshot versions of NVDA, RC4.

And the latest version of iTunes.

So if your in your music view, and you have it to show by song,, with
the Column Browser enabled, the list that shows, wont read when you down
or up arrow.

But I no that its moving, because when i tab to the song the name of the
song changes.

anyone else see this?

Re: contact you off list

Okay, there I do see "Reply to Group" and also the "Reply to Sender" link
which you were talking about. It just isn't on the NVDA list (thanks for your
other confirmations that you don't find it either now, for whatever reason).

In reply to your other question, though, I did not see the quoted footers you
tried to post, however since it was just your confirmation that what we'd been
talking about wasn't there, I don't mind not seeing it :)

Thanks,

Antony.

Antony,

Let me know if you could even see the quoted footer.  I did quote it, but it's completely invisible on the web interface, though with the amount of white space shown I suspect that e-mail participants might be able to see it.  I can bring it up in Gmail in the message I got if I show quoted material.

Re: contact you off list

Antony,

Done, and done from an e-mail I received with your message.

I apologize and retract my prior statement, as it appears that Group Owners have the ability to customize what's at the end of Groups.io messages, though very few have done so (at least based on what I've seen in the groups I've been in [and sometime out] of on groups.io).   Since I don't participate by e-mail, and virtually any test e-mail messages I have from the groups I've allowed them to come in from have the standard footers that's the only thing I've ever known to be there.  I need to see if I have an ancient NVDA group message in my inbox, as I almost certainly do have one along with a couple of digests, to see if the group owner changed this at some point or if I just never noticed at all for this group.

They're still coming in "the Groups.io standard way" for messages from all of the other groups (or I think it's all, some are so low traffic it could be weeks or a month or more until a message would come in).
