Re: CAPTCHA Be Gone abandoned also?
You can do that but I have had captchas change every 5 seconds on sime sites which drives me nuts. In fact I had that happen today in fact. I got it done, but yeah drives me nuts.

Re: has anybody seen this using windows 1803
I do see this from time to time on systems that need a username and password, usually for a private ftp or other share.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
Usually you get a passphrase set for that or a share. However if its something perminant and I need web access with a username and password, and its an ftp I will be using I usually just ask for ftp access and then use my ftp client to pull the files with the advantage, I can get what I want, bugger off and I know it will be done when its done.

What does the "Target" field in your shortcut have in it? If I have a desktop shortcut with the target set to: etc, it loads the page in the default browser - Edge in this case.

Re: NVDA 2018.3.1
Quentin Christensen
Yes, as Joseph said, it's the way we number releases which appears like a date to some synthesizers. We generally have four main releases a year, named the year, then .1, .2 etc, so NVDA 2018.3 is the third release of the year. Just after releasing it, we discovered big issue for Firefox users, and because we didn't want to leave them until NVDA 2018.4, we released a "minor release" and identified it with .1 at the end - so NVDA 2018.3.1. Theoretically, if we discovered another bug we wanted to fix before the next version, we would call it NVDA 2018.3.2. The difference with those "point releases" is that they purely fix one issue, where a full release has many updates, fixes and new features. Regards Quentin.

Thanks, this is a very useful keystroke for quickly getting to the dialogue box. But it's not a toggle for turning document formatting detecthion on and off.

Hello All,
When I am faced with a CAPCHA challenge, I will make use of the Be My Eyes iPhone app. Just ask the volunteer to tall me what's on the screen. Safer than using an unknown add-on. -- Desert

That is bizarre--I tried it with NVDA on Internet Explorer on my Windows 7
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
64-bit machine and if I scrolled up from the event list, which was indeed a month behind the date it was supposed to be showing, then the month would change, too! It kept going backwards, and then I arrowed down and the events for the month prior to the new date would appear.

I can hear it say the date its showing events from, with a clickable if you wish to change it, but when I cursor down, it seems that the calendar date is a month before the date its supposed to be. With me so far? However just powered up jaws 2018 and tried to do the same thing. Headers do not seem to work to that point. I need to stop before it and go down, but I'm still cursoring down and this time the event in the calendar does not alter at all. This is in the latest version of firefox and the latest version of Waterfox. Both seem to behave the same, ie differently on the calendar. Its as if the calendar thinks I've hit the scroll up in nvda but is OK in Jaws. About the headings, well I am not an expert on Jaws, so I might be missing something. So what is occurring, our site builder is beginning to lose his mind! Brian bglists@blueyonder.co.uk Sent via blueyonder. Re: CAPTCHA Be Gone abandoned also?
Gene
Aside from this add-on appearing to be abandoned,
for captcha services you like that can't be used with the current Firefox, if
you get a portable version of Firefox that supports the add-on or add-ons, you
can use the portable version just on sites where you want to solve a captcha and
the current version for other sites.
The last version of Firefox to support a lot of
older add-ons is 52ESR.

Re: serious problem with nvda 2018.3 with firefox
Mohammadreza Rashad
Hello friends,
Please update your NVDA to version 2018.3.1; especially those who use a 32-bit version of Firefox on 64-bit version of Windows. According to the entry in What's new file: NVDA 2018.3.1 is a minor release to fix a critical bug in NVDA which caused 32 bit versions of Mozilla Firefox to crash. -- Best wishes, Mohammadreza Rashad

This is a case where a screen shot of the message would be very helpful (for me, anyway) in determining what it's from and whether it's legitimate or not.

Doesn't sound like it. Sounds like whatever site you are trying to download from. You'll need a username and assword. It seems likely that your friend has one, and he should give it to you. But how are you trying to get the files?
