I can confirm the problem. In fact, the only way I even see the window for Windows Explorer/This PC is when I move to the desktop and tab to the task bar and highlight the item that says 'windows explorer one running window.'  When I press enter on this to focus on the folder, everything disappears.  The title bar says: 'Explorer' but nothing shows up.  When Gold Wave is complete with its task, then everything goes back to normal.

For NvDA users running Version 1809: can you try the following for me and Quentin please:

 

1. With NVDA 2018.3.x and Windows 10 Version 1809 installed, open File Explorer to any folder, preferably to a location where you have a large number of folders and files.
2. Run an intensive task such as applying effects to a large audio file in programs such as GoldWave.
3. Switch to File Explorer and see if NVDA reads folder and file names as you arrow through them.

 

This is a follow-up study to see if what NV Access and I have implemented in NVDA 2018.3 is working. If NVDA freezes, do let us know immediately so we can investigate as early as next week (Quentin and I are in the middle of a short vacation at the moment).

Hi, in addition to my earlier post this only occur in NVDA specifically  but in JAWS works fine. So, I presume NVDA reading something or voicing it from the background the scenario happens only when opening the Settings dialog by pressing the
Windows keys plus I

As for troubleshooting, I did to disable the addons to ensure NVDA 2018.3.2
reads again by got the same results.

Though significantly not affecting but somehow annoying so I believe this has a fix or workaround in the future.

As for the record again, pasting the line that is reading by NVDA 2018.3.2in Windows 10 1809:

 C equals Microsoft Windows O equals Microsoft Corporation L equals
 readman  S equals washington

Which browser are you using? Sometimes, using a different web browser can
change things here and there. If using a different web browser doesn't help,
chances are that this has to do with oddly designed web controls, something
you should alert the bank about.
Regarding scripting: yes, it is possible to script NVDA via Python
programming language. There has been discussion regarding how to do this for
websites, but no progress on that front yet.

In Grossgan.com there are some very good speech sinthesizers that a user can use with their NVDA Screen reader. I want to know is that a safe sight to download Those oices?
I don't want to break the rule.

I am teaching myself Python, and C Sharp, and have just downloaded and installed the Free Microsoft Visual Studio 2017.

NVDA and Jaws 2018 will read some things in Visual Studio, and was wondering if any here use Visual Studio to do your programing?

I am either using it wrong, or not enough is getting read by either Screen Reader. So am asking if any here use this program to do your programing.
