Re: BrailleNote Apex will no work with latest NVDA and Bluetooth
Hi, Okay, have you tried telling Windows 10 to forget your BrailleNote (Settings/Devices, then select your BrailleNote and remove) and pairing/connecting again? I think what might be happening is that NVDA might not be finding the BrailleNote at a designated Bluetooth COM port, or something else is going on. Cheers, Joseph

Hi, Apart from this news… I’d like to know the following:
I’m interested in this, as I do have an Apex and recently introduced Apex BT scroll wheel and BrailleNote QT support to NVDA in 2018.3. Cheers, Joseph

BrailleNote Apex will no work with latest NVDA and Bluetooth
Armando Maldonado
Hello,
I'm trying to connect my brailleNote Apex with
latest NVDA release and no matter what HumanWare Braillenote driver I choose I
get a Cannot load Braille driver error. How can I remedy this issue and how can
I save this so NVDA can remember which display to use so it will not revert to
No Braille? Thanks.

Re: NVDA with Links and Attachments Continued
Gene
Proofreading a message is not the same as receiving
a message. Proofreading a message being composed will usually not show
links as links, as far as I know. As far as I know, this is JAWS doing
what a screen-reader shouldn't do, pretending something is being shown as a link
when it isn't and is just text as far as a sighted person reading a message they
are composing is concerned. But if I'm wrong, I hope to be
corrected. I've never checked this. But JAWS didn't used to announce
link and NVDA doesn't.
If someone receives a message from you and you have
written a link properly, www.rest of link or http://www.rest of link, if that person doesn't see
the structure as a linkk, that's their problem. Maybe they are reading
mail as plain text and maybe their e-mail program doesn't show mail as a link in
plain text.

Continued Gene, I understand what you are saying about links and will send myself a test message. However, If I copy and paste a YouTube link, or a specified URL is typed in an email, as I proof-read my email, oftentimes the word 'link' will not be heard with the URL. In some cases, people have told me that the URL did not get received by them as a link, only the URL itself. Moreover, the same is observed to occur on Facebook. Test: www.abc.com At one point in the past, it seems typed URL's did automatically appear with a link in one's email and not too terribly long ago.. I'll send this communication to myself as well, thank you. -- David Russell david.sonofhashem@...

Re: NVDA STOPS SPEAKING RANDOMLY
Gene
Before you ran all these maintenance programs, did
you try rebooting? These programs have nothing to do with the CPU
load. The CPU load is determined by the number of processes running and
how much computer resources they use.
Diksk Cleanup removes unused and unneeded files
like temporary files. Defrag moves files and parts of files that make up
one file closer together so the hard drive doesn't have to do as much work to
get the information since it is close together. But none of this has to do
with the processor load.
I'm telling you this to help you understand what
these programs do and because it is inefficient and useless to do unnecessary
maintenance. I'm not sure how this is done and others may tell you, but
you can use the Task Manager to get an idea of what programs are using a lot of
computer resources.
And, as I said, just rebooting may solve the
problem.

Re: Abby fine reader 12
Gene
You may be able to correct the problem but do you
care about saving formatting? You can use control a to select all, copy it
to the clipboard, then paste it into a word processor or Notepad. You can
then save the pasted document. You can use Notepad if you just want a text
file and you don't care about losing formatting. If you save it as a word processor document, I don't know if you will
lose formatting or if it will change. Gene

Re: Some applications take a long time to close

You could try with JAWS or Narrator or something
else. I would think the usual reason for doing such comparisons would be
to try to determine if NVDA is causing a problem or if the problem is
unrelated.
