There is an illegal version that is an add-on.  There is also a legal add-on which, unless the artifacts problem has been solved, I do not recommend.  There is a SAPI 5 version that is legal.  It doesn't have the artifacts problem. 
 
The legal demo and the SAPI 5 version both have demos and you should try both in case you have unexpected problems with the SAPI 5 version and in case the artifacts problem has been solved with the legal add-on, which I am very doubtful of.
 
Members can tell you where to get demos.  I haven't done this for a number of years.

Yes, I am unsure why they feel they have to include this feature either.

It looks like it was part of android for a while and they are simply porting it over, one of those one size fits all jobs.

I could see why you wuld want it in a mobile phone, a set and forget, but quickclean is not really usefull for us really in fact some users have had it crash and they have made it just be off, but yeah, its not accessible and actually really not needed by us either.

Select every line including the first cfg line and hit delete and then save the file and rerun the program.

Sadly quickclean and the settings to use it are as buggy as ever, ie I can't deselect the buttons or even do anything, and quickclean still has issues but at least now it starts by default as off.

Now as long as piriform or should I say avast corp in their infinit wizdom doesn't reenable the damn setting every few runthroughs that will actually be good.

I suspect the fact that its freezing on some units rather than my issue is probably the issue.

I really hope that at least in portable we don't have to handle these issues its why I switched to portable, firstly the visual panel and then to get away from system monitering.

The thing is, get past the inaccessible configuration and settings, the monitering, the extra not needed things like quickclean and the program is basically accessible once configured.

If you didn't have my ini file you would need sighted help to configure it once, but then you could also edit the ini file, settings mostly are true false 1 or 0 values mostly anyway.

There are custom ini files you can put in or get bits from to.

And there are ways to add things in if you need just remember eventually the datafile entries will slow the engine down.

With all that out the way, ccleaner is still in my view a good program.

Both are commercialized by CodeFactory and distributors...

Beside those two versions are some addons not legal...

Both the Code Factory, and the Tiflotecnia ones are legal. The others which which shouldn’t mention are those that folks who know programming, and who in there way want to help, have put together. Hope this helps some in clarifying.toin

Hello Group,

Brian, thanks for the input and things to think about per Spybot,
Mozilla, WaterFox and the like. I don't mind passwords being destroyed
by Spybot as I have them noted on a hard copy pad that only I can
read.

I just don't know how reliable Microsoft Security Essentials is or
was. Avast is to 'damn' difficult to install and as said, my history
with AVG wasn't user-friendly at update time.

The problem with the new FireFox versions is it throws off the way I
am used to navigating email and social media. I rely on both! Google
is searchable but just odd to navigate with new versions of FF.

I will look at WaterFox and decide. Meantime, if you or anyone has an
easy-to-install anti-virus program recommend, let me/us know. I prefer
free of charge.. Thanks.

It's not a Windows Voice.  it is, in one paid version, a SAPI 5 voice.  SAPI has nothing to do with whether something is a Windows voice.  SAPI is a Windows program interface that allows synthesizers to communicate with Windows.  The legal add-on is not SAPI.  As I said, there is a SAPI 5 version.  You should try both as demos if you are trying to decide which you want.  The legal add-on has lots of really annoying artifacts and, in my opinion, should either be fixed or withdrawn.  And the NVDA page about voices still doesn't caution users about this problem.  Nor does it tell users that a SAPI 5 version is available that doesn't have this problem.  This information should be on the site and users should be advised to try demos of both before making a purchase.  I've written about this before and the page hasn't contained this information and discussion for years.  This is a real disservice to users and it should be corrected yesterday.

I tried down arrowing and pressing control very quickly after down arrowing.  That causes no speech to sound.  If you can have the add on activate control after every down arrow but not on the last one if you want that to be read, that should solve the problem.  I don't know if there is another solution on a more technical level but as a user without technical knowledge of the internal operation, that is what I found.

Sorry, let me rephrase that...

Eloquence have a SAPI5 version, and as that, it is available for all applications...

It does not come with any flavour of Windows operative system...

I've never seen anybody mainstream usin teamtalk. It seems like only blind people use it, sadly. It's a great program even though it is not simple to set up. As for what you can do to make this new version a bit easier to use, there's very little you can do. I would at least turn auto answering calls on. Below are the steps. The privacy issue is outweighed by the amount of time it takes for users to answer a call manually.

  1. Hit Alt, T.
  2. Arrow down to preferences.
  3. Once inside preferences, go to the calls tab and check answer incoming calls automatically. Settings save automatically so close the window after.

It depends on the synth you are using...

The Eloquence SAPI5 works alright, since it is a Windows synth and not a NVDA dedicated synth...

The Eloquence addon from CodeFactory also works...

The ilegal ones, some work, others maybe not...
But, it is not the place to discuss those...

There was a discussion some time ago about what would happen to older synthesizers when NVDA began using the newest version of Python, and a few people were expressing concerns that Eloquence and other synthesizers would no longer function correctly.

Has anyone else had quick navigation keys stop working after installing Microsoft Office?

They were working until I did that installation. I have a laptop computer. The vendor configured it before giving it to
me. The quick navigation keys have never worked. They are trying to figure out what they might have done that caused
this problem. Once I know that, I might be able to write a NVDA add-on to correct it.
