Need Seka Braille driver for use with NVDA

Hi. I don’t understand German. On the NVDA user guide for this display it takes me to a German site if the driver exists on that site, can anyone who speaks German help me find the download link to the driver please? Thanks.

ergent help needed with phonetic transcriptions

hi,

So I am doing my masters in linguistics, and have a writing assignment about  a topic in morphology. The problem is, the morphemes are transcribed in the international phonetic alphabet, and bracketed and for this reason nvda will not read them correctly. Has anyone else here done linguistics, and if so how did you solve this problem? I am afraid of failing the assignment not because of a lack of efort, but because I can't access the matterial correctly. Would a braille display help with this?

Wow! Just wanted to say what a vast improvement NVDA 2018.4 beta 2 and FF is. Now this is the speed I’ve been waiting for since FF 57 came out almost a year ago. Thanks NV Access. I now use both JAWS and NVDA and JAWS 2019 at the moment was the winner in responsiveness. Now that’s changed in the new beta. Hope this will carry over to 2018.4 final build.

The computer in my workplace is PC. Anyway, In the morning at home, I can use vocalizer (with one of the activation count) without any problem. I can use it in the PC at my office for almost two years, the problem just happen today. 


NVDA 2018.4 Beta 2: Improved Responsiveness in Mozilla Thunderbird

Hi.

Last week I mentioned that NVDA 2018.4 beta 1 was exhibiting slower responsiveness with certain keypresses. This was noticed in Thunderbird but also in Google Chrome, two programs which I use daily. I'm happy to report that this situation has improved and the responsiveness is much better in beta 2. However, the 2018.3.2 production build still seems snappier regarding the time it takes me to press a key until I hear the output or results of that press. I most notice this when navigating by links using K or shift-K. I'm very pleased that things have improved with beta 2 but I do hope that the final 2018.4 release will behave identically to 2018.3.2. Could someone from NV Access comment on this? Were changes made to NVDA which could, potentially, increase latency with key presses?

Hi. I realize that you're dealing with a machine located at work. However, if the machine is a laptop do you have permission to bring your laptop home with you? Some workplaces absolutely would not allow an employee to do this but others would permit it. If you're permitted to do so, I would take the computer home and see if you get the same message on your home network.

Anyone using Chatzilla or Mushclient?

Hi folks,

Is anyone using either Chatzilla, an IRC client, and MushCLIENT, a MUD client?

We've got an old issue on the issue tracker regarding NVDA not reading correctly when using flat review with either of these programs when multiple tabs are open.

If anyone is using either of these programs, can you please let me know:

- Do you have to use flat review to navigate the program?
- If multiple tabs are open, does NVDA mix up information from different tabs?

Update my situation: 
 
Things I have done until now. 
1. Uninstall vocalizer driver and delete everything from %appdata%. 
2. Download the driver and reinstall it. 
3. At the activation, I get the following error.

I once ran into a similar situation with one of the NVDA voices I had purchased, although I don't recall whether it was Codefactory's Nuance/Eloquence add-on or whether it was the Acapela add-on. In my case, I was on my home computer and it had nothing to do with firewall settings. In that particular instance, something had just gotten corrupted. I contacted the vendor and they were able to supply me with a valid license key which fixed the issue. If you can determine that your firewall settings are not the cause of the problem I would suggest that you contact the company which produces your add-on, which I am assuming is Codefactory, to see if a corrupted file might not be the problem.

I wonder if your computer was used by someone else on your day off or if some sort of maintainence or downloads were done to the network during that time.  Aside from just correcting the problem by having your license reactivated or renewed, finding out if something at work caused the problem would be helpful.

Its likely that work had an update or something.

Talk to your admins, security software could have simply blocked your licence activation or the need to access the net, if it worked before the admins may have left it out of activation or simply blocked its access, I had similar issues with university and jaws, Things get reset frequently, and even though it was noted down I needed things to work things got blocked and forgotten and I had to tell the admins, they can probably lift that on their server.

A Google Search for something like percent of screen-reader users use Braille produced this as one result:
If you search for the word Braille and repeat the search until you get to the relevant content, you will find information about the number of users of different screen-readers who use Braille output.

as you all know, NVDA 2018.4 is on the way. at the moment, the

developers' version is available to check for probable problems.

there's a problem which I have seen with different versions of NVDA.

it won't say anything in Visual Basic in Microsoft visual studio. I

have tried it on Microsoft visual studio 2010. it's fine with the

design area. but it keeps being completely silent while the text

editor area is on the foreground. I have no account on Github. but if

you have one, please let them know about this very significant

problem, so that it can be fixed in the next release. it's kind of

important. because you can't simply edit what you write within the

text-editing environment. as a result, programming gets difficult on

visual basic in microsoft visual studio 2010, using NVDA. please do

tell the NVAccess team about this major problem. note: this is not the

case with JAWS. it's fine with VB in MS Visual Studio 2010. you can

easily move with design and text-editing area with jaws. therefore,

you can easily edit what you've written in the text editor

environment.

 

let's keep in mind, this is not the only case.

NVDA crashes as you let it get updated out of addon updator but

mannually restart it.

as you know, while using addon updater, it lets you know when there

are addons to update, after installing, NVDA asks you to let it

restart. if you choose yes, NVDA will restart, but after rebooting,

you will see a couple of NVDAs on the system tray. if you press enter

on one of them it will disappear. if you say no, and then you will

mannually exit and reload NVDA, it will crash after a few seconds, and

won't reload unless you sign out and sign in again.

I should mention that all these cases have taken place in windows 10

18.9 64 bit latest update.

Logically, I would have agreed with you. But, I did remove NVDA completely and then installed a fresh download of the whole NVDA package, installed it and still the three files are missing!


Listed but failing to open (presumed Missing!):

Present and functioning:
* NVDA Web Site
* Licence
* Contributors
* Welcome Dialog
* Check for Update
* About


Could someone tell me what the program file names for the three missing items are? I could then check the NVDA folder and see if they are actually present.

Have you tried a reinstall but keeping the settings? If its just files that are missing and you know they were there in the first place, they have to be in the installer, surely?

I was going to investigate the query on using the User manual when I
discovered that the User Manual command reference and what’s new items are
missing from my NVDA menu!

All the other items are present in the help menu.
