Hi, This is rather a change in Windows 10 Version 1809, not NVDA. Cheers, Joseph

hi all, in nvda 2018.4rc2 there are made changes I'm not glad with it. it's about the emoticons. before it was made that when you press the tab, you change the catechory but now first you have to press windowskey plus dot or ; after that you have to press tab to to choose a catechory now with right arrow choose a catechory now enter again, after that you can tab to find the list! before it was a lot easyer! that was press windowskey plus . than tab to the right catechory after that you find immediately the list! this is much more cumbersome I think! you can better take the way as before in the beginning of nvda 2018.4. cheers paul otter

When you open the emoticon panel in windows its already on the emoticons , so just arrow to the emoticon you require and hit enter, its as simple as that, nothing to do with nvda 🤣🤣s

Hi,
I believe that this change was made looking for the new emojis
panel. Like, now you have what I'd call subcategories, such as skin
tones and more. So it's the only way we can have access to all of
this emojis, I guess.

Question: How to Enable the Experimental UIA Support for Word in 2018.4 RC 2
Hello.
For NVDA 2018.4 I recall reading about some text which could be inserted within the NVDA.ini file to enable experimental UIA support within Word. I lost the email with those instructions and wonder if someone could kindly repost the information?
Many thanks.

Hi, OK, I'm very confused now. Updating the vocalizer engine from version 1.1 to version 2 or 3 takes I'm afrade 1 or 2 so years? Will be there more voices or languages in the future?

Hello!
Tiflotecnia is selling Vocalizer for NVDA since 2013. Code Factory started selling Vocalizer for NVDA in 2016, after becoming Nuance distributors for the assistive technology market... and our supplier of Vocalizer licenses...
Both package requires the deactivation of the license prior to a format or similar...
Tiflotecnia's Vocalizer allows a portable license in a portable NVDA... Code Factory's Vocalizer requires you to install an activation in a PC, and uninstalling it after using...
Tiflotecnia only provides Vocalizer and Code Factory provides Vocalizer and Eloquence...
Our automatic language switching system is better then the one from Code Factory...
Best regards,
Rui Fontes Tiflotecnia, Lda.

I'm sorry. I misunderstood your
message. its Code Factory that provides Eloquence and Vocalizer in the same add-on. Your company only
provides Vocalizer in the add-on. Unless the problem has been corrected in
the Code Factory add-on, I wouldn't consider buying the Code Factory
add-on unless I was buying it for Vocalizer and not for eloquence.

When is your company going to get rid of the very
annoying artifacts in your implementation of Eloquence. If I wanted
Eloquence, and that was all I wanted, I wouldn't buy the add on that has both
synthesizers. I'd buy something like the SAPI version of Eloquence that
doesn't have these artifacts. it's been three or more years since this
add-on was released and this problem, discussed many times on this list, has not
been corrected. That is, it hasn't been
corrected as of a number of months ago, when the subject was discussed
last, and I'd be very surprised if it has been since.

Hello! Tiflotecnia is selling Vocalizer for NVDA since
2013. Code Factory started selling Vocalizer for NVDA in 2016, after becoming
Nuance distributors for the assistive technology market... and our
supplier of Vocalizer licenses... Both package requires the
deactivation of the license prior to a format or
similar... Tiflotecnia's Vocalizer allows a portable license in a
portable NVDA... Code Factory's Vocalizer requires you to install an
activation in a PC, and uninstalling it after using... Tiflotecnia
only provides Vocalizer and Code Factory provides Vocalizer and
Eloquence... Our automatic language switching system is better then the
one from Code Factory... Best regards, Rui

Re: question about nvda add ons
True, I think of addons in their simplest form if only containing modules and plugins as being packaged archives, but I guess in their more advanced state since they can contain everything from scripts to fully portable apps, synths and drivers etc, as extentions for nvda that can do a lot of things, in the past since they can take programs bad things but mostly good if secured right.
Since nvda is just a reader and such extentions like in google chrome would be apt.
But if nvda was its own os, then nvda addons would be what the apple bundles are to macs or those packaged executable installers you get in windows are.
So installers for apps.
Apps can be scripts for apps, drivers, synths, apps in their own right etc.
Not saying that it would happen but to be honest, there is not much idea wize from making nvda to its own os.
maybe a linux distro, technically there is more to that than meets the eye.

Hey guys, Molly here again.
I was just wondering, is an NVDA add on the equivalent of jaws scripts? I realize that add ons enhance the functionality of NVDA. Isn't that similar to Jaws scripting? Or am I way off base here?

It did not eliminate the problem, but I'll try for a while to see whether it seems to reduce the issue.

May I ask for your input on this, once again. I am running Windows 10 and have two audio options: a Realtek sound card and a Logitech wireless headset (not Bluetooth). Under the NVDA speech settings, when I choose one of these, the output is through the other one. I want the Logitech wireless headset, but have to choose Realtek to get it. However, the NVDA sounds do not have the same good voice quality as when I used to set it to come through the Logitech option. Especially, the initial sound in each word is often cut off. Selecting the Realtek option, NVDA sounds come through the Logitech headset, but system sounds come through the computer speakers.
When I raised these issues three weeks ago, several of you suggested this would be a driver problem. I checked the settings and drivers, together with my sighted wife and we found no irregularity. I had another person, who is more computer savvy, look at this and he, too, said that there was no evidence of errors with either the Realtek driver or the Logitech driver.
Is it possible to have a driver problem, even though there is no error alert?
Any other suggestions?

Well when I open a folder, assuming there are files in that
folder, it normally will say the name of the folder and usually
the file. It has recently seemingly got worse atdoing this. Far
worse, but I'm now wondering if it might be something I noticed in the
programs loaded into the display driver chain. I did around the
same time install Jaws 2018, and although this is Windows 7, I notice it has
added a tiny driver of some sort which is there even when jaws is not
running as a process. Sorry cannot recall its name. If that does take some
significant time or change what is getting to nvda it could be a factor. I
mainly only use Jaws for alexa as it works far better than nvda in that

Hi,

Hi,
Okay, this is all new to me. I thought code factory was the
only company that sold vocalizer voices hense why I didn't go
with them.
Is there a link pointing to this other companie's offerings and
how does licensing work?
Similarly, I'm lothed to throw the ridiculous amount of money
at code factory for NVDA eloquence.

a devil of a time getting Code Factory to respond to their
requests for authorization resets. To keep this on topic, I am
just glad I do now have a workable solution for high-quality
voices for NVDA.

I'm sorry but no matter how good the customer support
might be, this is not a company I want to throw my money
at. If other users do, please have at it. I am glad some
can make use of their product. I feel that it is a waste
of money, and that this company is not one I would trust
with a single additional dollar. I purchased this product
a while back and I regret it very much. The licensing
scheme is stupid, a user has no control to reset his or
her own keys if needed without contacting the support, the
driver has bugs which haven't been addressed, no new
voices are supported even still after being promised an
update for years no, and I am supposed to just blindly
trust this company to keep supporting their products?
Again, anyone who knows me that this is not how I like
to respond to individuals or companies on any list, and I
generally have some amount of patience, reminding users of
product development cycles and such, always looking for
the value in a product or service. After so many broken
promises and lack of follow-through, I am unable to put
any weight behind this product, or the company
represented.
Thanks.
No, however you can use the
Freedom Scientific page to hear the voices...
