nvda remote windows server lock screen.

Jack Mendez

Hello.

Anyone work with windows server and nvda remote?

I have tried several times to interact remotely with a windows server and been unable to successfully send ctrl+alt+del through the NVDA remote menu to get to the authentication dialog. In order to enter user credentials I need to be able to send the keyboard sequence. I have tried disabling it, but still have no luck with logging into a remote session once the screen locks.

Hello Joseph,

I just want to Thank you, and I mean really Thank you for being one of

many lines of Code are in the current NVDA program, but there must be
plenty.

I did read what you wrote, and I understood some of it, enough to
realize the conversion project isn't an easy one. So, again, I Thank
you and the others for putting in the many hours of work and study to

I certainly would not be able to do any of this for myself.

I added Miranda NG, still haven't figured out how to upload my blind version somewhere, to the wiki. I debated about adding the Fox it software since they work well with NVDA now, but I think, moving forward, I will only focus on accessible open source software. If anyone disagrees, then edit the page yourself.

Keystroke for on-the-fly reading and interacting with Windows10 alerts?

Gerardo Corripio

Might there be an NVDA keystroke, or AddOn I’m not aware of, that’ll let me go on the fly to an alert (Dropbox for instance, when it asks if you want to remove the file or files from everywhere during a deleting of)? Shift+Alt+tab and Alt+Tab to try and get to these alerts can sometimes be a hit and miss affaire. Thanks for info.

The main hassle at the moment with the Alpha is it keeps on moaning about add ons. One in particular which is a very useful one, application dictionary. Needs to be brought up to date it seems.

If you install the stable version, you will no longer get updates to the
alpha channel, that's correct. It's worth at least download 2018.4 even if
you use alpha, because then you have the latest stable version to go back
to if needed. It's up to you whether you want to be in the stable release
channel or the alpha release channel.

Just to be different I use a batch file to close the old copy first, and I also have one that is capable of loading in the log to notepad before rebooting another stable copy, no matter which was running before. This means as I have debug login on on all versions, it allows easy access to the log when things go wrong.

Re: Last NVDA: How do I update it?

Brian's Mail list account <bglists@...>

Not really. If say a bug is spotted on the normal release version, a new release version say.4.1 is made and the fix exported back to Alpha as well to make sure both are based on the same code.
The other way around of course, the whole point of alpha is for new features and fixes to be tested. You do not want untested code going to a stable version. In the old days we also had a channel where tested alpha code was in a beta, but now that only starts to appear nearer a release time. You need to watch for this on the snapshots page, which is what I do. The reason is that at times new enhancements come out that affect the beta and it will have to be altered, so the point of beta is to have it more or less fixed in stone before letting the public destructively test it!

Hello folks.
I'm on the NVDA Alpha channel. I got informed that a new version was
available, but not for the channel, I read it here just now.
The thing is: when I was going to check for updates it shows me nothing.
Anyone knows what can be happening and how to fix it?

So you want to downdate, so to speak from alpha to the new version? the best plan is to download it afresh and uninstall the alpha.
On the other hand I keep an alpha updated as a portable version and use the stable or betas as my installed copy.

Hi all, as the subject says,

I’m unable to write comment on YouTube., on the edit box. When writing a comment, NVDA speaks only letters, and doesn’t write anything. Please fix that. Using the latest Firefox, and the latest NVDA

Re: nvda latest RC version don't speak when in settings or windows defender program

Brian's Mail list account <bglists@...>

Hi, firstly we would need to know the exact build of Windows you have as there are differences.
To get a log there are many ways. Firstly open up a blank copy of notepad.
Go to the part of windows not working as it should and do an NVDA/F1. This should open the log viewer with the last entries the bits of diagnostic info needed. However go up the file until you can hear the part where you go into the non working part and select all the file from there to the bottom of the file and cut and paste it into notepad, and save it as something meaningful, in case of any crashes.
Get back to the email software, start a message with the sub line of your problem in this group first, put the details of the windows version etc and the problem and then cut and paste the contents of the notepad to the bottom of the message.
Before doing this I would advise that you go to nvda settings and general and select the debug level for your log as this will have more details in it before you attempt to show the issue.

I hope this makes sense.
If somebody here can get a good look and duplicate the issue then fine, if not then you might have some odd windows issue.

If nobody can resolve it you may need to get an account on github web site and raise a new issue for it.
However I'd suggest trying the new release version if you have not already. also try to test with all add ons disabled firs as some odd things can happen if one is old or misbehaving for whatever reason.

Video editor for screen readers or add on that works with a video editor.

Chantelle Buys

Afternoon everyone.

Does anyone know of a video editing program that would work with NVDA
or know of someone who would be able to make an add on that would work
with one?

I use to make YouTube videos with Movie Maker and since Windows10 came
around, I wasn't able to edit anything anymore.

I've downloaded almost every video editing program I could think of
that would work with NVDA and the keyboard but, no such luck.

I don't mind which program, as long as it can split, copy, cut and do
all the basic things like movie maker.

Can anyone help please?

Chantelle

Re: Media recorder with crossfade

Brian's Mail list account <bglists@...>

I believe that many burning programs with a bit of messing about can do crossfade but they are not always very intelligent in how it happens. Certainly CD Burner XP did it though I turned it off as it was annoying me, and now I cannot find it again.

Or you could create a custom file in, say Goldwave and do the crossfading where you want it and insert markers and use disc at once for burning after splitting the files.

Well I doubt is Apple but certainly if too many things start up at boot time it can have all sorts of odd effects.

Subject: [nvda] possible solution to slowness with Explorer

Hi,

Please don't anyone come down on me for this message as my husband, Marcus, is the one that wanted me to send it to you guys. I remember reading that some people were experiencing some sluggishness with Explorer and NVDA, which we had, but most of it is now gone since we removed all Apple products from the computer. There's still some minor slowness, but nothing like before. Just wanted to let you guys know in case you wanted to try it yourself.
