Glad iTunes is working well with NVDA 2018.4
Lino Morales <linomorales001@...>
Hi all I can now read the lists of items with column browser enabled with NVDA 2018.4. I don’t know if the new version now has access to new UIA stuff or not, but its now working. It also works with today’s JAWS 2019 update as well.

Problem installing latest update
Hello all, especially NVDA Support,
I’m having a problem with the latest update. It seemed to download OK after
I got the prompt, but it wouldn’t install. It asked me to review the log view
which I did, but it doesn’t make any sense to me. I looked for the software in
my download folder to install it manually, but it wasn’t there. Any help with
this would be much appreciated.
Thank you,
Jan

Not really. If
say a bug is spotted on the normal release version, a new release
version say.4.1 is made and the fix exported back to Alpha as well
to make sure both are based on the same code.
The other way around of course, the whole point of alpha is for
new features and fixes to be tested. You do not want untested code
going to a stable version. In the old days we also had a channel
where tested alpha code was in a beta, but now that only starts to
appear nearer a release time. You need to watch for this on the
snapshots page, which is what I do. The reason is that at times
new enhancements come out that affect the beta and it will have to
be altered, so the point of beta is to have it more or less fixed
in stone before letting the public destructively test it!

Hi Hurrikennyandopo,
Thanks for your explanation, it was very clear.
But the question is: people of the NVDA Alpha channel receive
updates
from the Stable or there's a chance of having something on the
stable
and not on the alpha?

Hi Marcio
if you are running the alfa version as a installed version it
will
stay on the alfa version for updates.
The way a few of us do it is they might keep the stable
version as the
main installer version.
If they want to test out either the alfa version or beta
version then
they would make up a directory on the c: drive and either name
it alfa
version of nvda or beta version of nvda or along those lines.
They would then download either the alfa version or beta
version and
then make a portable copy inside of either directory and have
the
files put into it.
Then they would make a shortcut from the desktop either to the
alfa
version or the beta version to the nvda.exe file and also
asign a
shortcut to start that copy.
I have a alfa version plus the beta version plus the stable
version on
this computer.
so when you go to start it lets say for the alfa version the
hot key
could be alt + ctrl + the letter A.
So when you say look at my c: drive i would have c:\ nvda alfa
c:\ nvda beta
programfiles x86 nvda which is the stable version.
Hope you get what i mean.

Just to see if I got it right: If I download this version,

If so, how I can stay up to date about news on the NVDA
stable
without losing it?
I mean, staying in the Alpha channel I won't receive news
from the
stable version, or will I?
Maybe it's a stupid question but I still am confused about
these
channels.

Hi Marcio,
You can download the update from
https://www.nvaccess.org/download -
when you install it, the installer will automatically
install over
your existing installed version.
The Beta channel automatically updates to the RC channel.
The RC channel automatically updates to the next stable
release.
The alpha channel stays on the alpha channel. If you would
like to
change from alpha to stable, you will need to download
manually.
So anyone who downloaded either the beta or RC releases
should be
prompted to update to NVDA 2018.4 stable, but you can also
download
it manually and install.
Note that NVDA only checks once every 24 hours or so; for
those
following us on social media or in the groups here, you
often find
out before NVDA has checked. You can either download or
check for
updates manually, or wait and it will do it within a day
or so.

Re: 32Bit or 64Bit Office with NVDA
Dear Noah & List: Select your Office version based on whether you have a 32 or 64 bit PC.
If your PC has only the programs folder it is 32 bit. If it also has a folder system32, it is a 64-bit PC.
Office 64-bit can edit and manipulate larger spreadsheet, word and such files than the 32-bit version. Brian K. Lingard

Re: added some applications to the wiki
Hi Robert
Not sure if you are aware but a few years back i put together a page of software that works with nvda with feed back from the community.
The page can be found at http://accessibilitycentral.net/nvda_road_tested_programs.html
I did link I think it was to the wicki page maybe under guides? I would have to check.
I never got around to actually doing a wicki page like you are putting together.
may be it was just a lot easier using the program i use to make my website? or having the time to do it.
It may be 2 that there are not many people who know how to edit a wicki page 2? or have done it.
may be people may not be aware of the wicki page?
I do not know if you can copy and paste large amounts of programs that work with nvda into a wicki page if that is the case there is the page that was put together that can be added for a back up then may be one day my page can be removed.

Re: nvda remote windows server lock screen.
Hello antony. Thank you for your response. I have configured things appropriately as documented in the readme file. If I go to the machine and unlock it with ctrl+alt+dell and move back to the remote machine and login I can authenticate.

I've got Virtual Dub video editer, but I can't get to the editing section in the HELP notes. Can anyone access them, please?

nvda remote windows server lock screen.
Hello.
Anyone work with windows server and nvda remote?
I have tried several times to interact remotely with a windows server and been unable to successfully send ctrl+alt+del through the NVDA remote menu to get to the authentication dialog. In order to enter user credentials I need to be able
to send the keyboard sequence. I have tried disabling it, but still have no luck with logging into a remote session once the screen locks.

What the key combination for Narrator is on

narrator in between I think.
