switching synthesizers or speech engines on the fly?

Is there a way or hot key or add-on which enables NVDA to switch to

It’s not there. I am so frustrated with this machine that I managed to piss off my poor friend who just wanted to help. Maybe I’m having this problem because the machine is running the insider build. The audio stops working after awhile.

It’s the last item in the Tools menu. Or if you prefer the shortcut way, insert+n, T, A.

Have you ever tried reinstalling the add-on? Maybe it can solve the problem.
Also what's your NVDA version?

That last point has in fact affected File hippo in recent months on and off on ordinary downloads, when it says thanks the download failed.its obviously a bit stingy on waiting for our end to reply.

Incidentally, Those using older versions of nvda are they going to be constantly pestered with this new download which then fails to install due to the changes?
Maybe a new version of 18 with a check of nvda version should have been offered first?

Hi everyone,

An early Christmas present for you: Add-on Updater 19.01 is now available.
This one brings performance improves when checking for updates, two new
add-on update checks, and new NvDA version requirement. Also, as of 19.01,
Add-on Updater is Python 3 ready.

IMPORTANT: Add-on Updater 19.01 requires NVDA 2018.4.

You can get the new add-on release in two ways:

* Manual: addons.nvda-project.org, select Add-on Updater and select
stable version link.
* Add-on Updater: check for add-on updates.

Changelog:

* Several new and updated localizations.
* Performance improvements when checking for add-on updates (done via
threads).
* Python 3 ready.

Another note to be aware of: there are add-ons hosted on some cloud
datacenters that imposes time limit as to when you can download the add-on
package. Thus, when NVDA says new add-on updates are available, please apply
them as soon as possible. If you get an error that ends with "error 403"
while downloading add-ons, please try checking for updates again.

Thank you.

Cheers,

If you have gmail you can set this up and it will only sent it every 7 days. That is it will just send 1 out, then after 7days if messages arrive to that address it will send just 1 etc etc etc.

Take care

I have Office 2016, and I’m wondering if lately Outlook has gotten smart enough to not send these to lists.

I don’t want to set one up if every incoming message will be going to be sending an auto reply to all the lists I’m on.

Thanks.

I stand corrected, by Ralf and myself:  I've sent vacation responses in the past with many IMAP accounts, but most not under Outlook.  What I did do when under Outlook and not using an Exchange account is documented on this Microsoft Help Page.

However, I am impressed with the experimental UIA support which I enabled in

particularly on my machine which is not the fastest machine around. What I'd
really like to see most in NVDA is a refactoring of the speech to improve
latency and, dare I make this comparison, to make it behave more like JAWS.
Specifically, I'm referring to the responsiveness when navigating using the
cursor and when typing.

seeing this occur in 2018.3.2 but, in general, 2018.3.2 is still somewhat
faster. I sent Quentin a debug file with all addons disabled but I'm
assuming there was nothing obvious in the output as I haven't heard back. I
notice this with Espeak. On a faster machine I do not notice this but on a
slower Athlon 2.9 GHZ there is a slight but noticeable difference. Just
wondering if anybody has noticed this and if something changed in the code
regarding navigation?

Hi.

How are you trying to open it?

Are your file associations set to VlC?

What happens when you open it using the search box or run dialog?

If you've tried everything and there's simply no VLC window opening, it may be time to re-install. There's nothing special related to starting VlC; it should open like any other programme.

I cannot read your mind et, so you will have to tell me and others what's going on and what error messages you re getting right down to the letter if possible along with error codes and screen shots if needed.

Glenn,

Unless you have the addresses for the various mailing lists in your Contacts, virtually all recent versions of Outlook have an option when setting up a vacation response to "Only sent to people in my contacts."

See this Microsoft Help Page, paying particular attention to the part regarding "Outside my organization" responses and the "My contacts only" option.
