You are shit out of luck if you want to do footnotes in a program other than MS Word. The below, though, may be some pages that may help. This will be in markdown, so switch off your text only view.

Re: Graphics that contain links

1. I suspect that rather than saying two words "wrecked angle", it is saying
the single word "rectangle".

2. Can you give us the URL of a page containing this link so we can
investigate for ourselves?

3. Have you tried contacting the owners of the site to tell them about this
change and the effect it has on screen readers, to see if they can change it
back to something that works again?

Antony.

Re: outlook is working again...

When starting Outlook the first time and when using control-Enter the first time Outlook asks you if you want to assign control enter as a hothey to send messages in the future. If you answer NO then it wont send the message.

This behavior can be cahnged from the Outlook Options under Mail, item: CTRL + ENTER sends a message

It is very likely that alt s will work in all those Microsoft programs, except Thunderbird, which isn't a Microsoft program but it would be nice if they made the command available. .  I have used Outlook Express and both versions of Windows Live Mail and alt s works in all of them.  Control enter may work in all of them as well.  While its preference, I prefer the pneumonic alt s command and you can keep your left hand on the home keys and move your right hand less away from them..

Re: Merry Christmas and a happy time whatever your faith and creed

Gene

If you are going to answer every Christmas message individually, either do so off list, replying privately, or save the messages until you have a number, four or five, and reply in one message, naming each person and saying what you want to say.  or you could simply say something like, to all or to all who wrote with seasons greetings or something indicating you are addressing those who wrote.  It is list clutter to answer every Christmas message individually, just as it is list clutter to answer every person individually who makes a suggestion with identical information in each individual message.  What would the list be like if ten or fifteen people did that?

What links are unlabelled ?
All those sites you mentioned appear to be fine here with latest nvda 18.4

What is nvda not doing for you what its doing for others?

Or what do you want nvda to do ?

Hello list. My subject line aptly describes the issue. Recently, I’ve seen more sites with unlabeled links than I’ve seen in recent memory, or ever before. I’ve seen them on paypal.com, yetcast.simplecast.fm Simplecast.com, and other places. Why is this? I’m using latest version of NVDA with latest version of Firefox, version 64. Will have to do more testing to see if this occurs in Edge and Chrome. Any ideas as to how to troubleshoot would be appreciated.

An extra point of information, I am running the latest alpha. My roommate is running the latest stable version, 2018.4, along with same version of Firefox. He is seeing some of the same things I am, particularly on Simplecast.com and yetcast.simplecast.fm. Thanks to all in advance for any assistance that can be given.

Hi

In all 4 of the email packages I have used Outlook, Gmail, Windows Mail and Thunderbird, ctrl+enter has been the shortcut key combination to send a message.

Well taking the christmas thing to a slightly new tangent while we can talk about such things, anyone had any new interesting weird but still christmas themed food this year.

For me, it was christmas mince pies, which were quite large almost like small muffins.

Half the filling was the standard christmas mince, but the rest was lemon jam and honey, and those were served hot.

I never thought about having jam on my pies, its actually quite good.

Since it’s a requirement for school, you are stuck for now.  At some point, if you don't have to use it, if you try a program like Thunderbird, or another standard e-mail program, you will find Thunderbird similar in terms of a lot of commands and many procedures. You will also likely find other standard e-mail programs to be similar.

To reply to a message in the old Windows Live Mail program and in Thunderbird is control r.  To send a message is control s and there may be another command I never use and don't recall.

To start a new message is control n.  Those are just a few examples.

Hello.

I’m actually using outlook for two reasons. First because it’s a requirement for school. And the other reason is simply that I’m very familiar with it. I’ve never actually used any other email programs on my computers except sometimes I use the Windows 10 mail app.

Do you have to use Outlook because of school requirements or are you just using it?  I've said before on various lists that by far, I see more complaints about Outlook than other popular e-mail programs among blind users and I would avoid using it if it were me, unless there were some reason I needed to do so.

Hi,
Actually, for Outlook problem, it might not be the processor at all. There
was an issue discussed not long ago where if you open a certain message (or
messages formatted in certain way) in Outlook with NVDA running, Outlook
would crash. I'm thinking you may have encountered that one.
Cheers,
Joseph

Well just that this machine is slow sometimes.
I know of other people who have this exact same model and most of them say
the processor is slow and lags a bit. I don't have this problem on my other
machine.

What information made you believe that the processor was the problem?

I wasn't sure if that was a Thunderbird command but it is.  I believe alt s works as well but others may want to say if it does.  If I used Thunderbird, I'd rather use alt s, if it works.

Don’t quote me on this, but I believe Joseph did make an audio tutorial or a written one on his site which he’d have to provide the URL.

Hi all,

Does anyone know if there is any tutorial demonstrating the use and
power of the add-on Golden Cursor? This Add-on might be useful in
instance where even Object Navigation cannot help to read the screen.  A
google search turn up nothing for me. Please advise, I am all-ears. Thanks.
