The latest version is 2016.2.1 to fix a problem in Word with 2016.2 - perhaps that is where the .1 at the end come from that made you think it had gone back a version?

In terms of updating, you should definitely be able to update via the help menu.  It should also check for updates automatically (if you haven't turned that option off) and offer to install them automatically.

Kind regards

Quentin.

announcement. But only after several days,    I understood that I'm with
NvdA2016.1 again. I tried two time after that and received the same
result. Now I'm with NvdA2016.1 again. This isn't a big problem of

You don't need to manually delete folders or anything like that. The
goal of reinstallation is to get it to re-add the dll files that
handle speech in the hopes that'll straighten it out. Another possible
explanation would be that it thinks you have other screen readers

Up to date UEB snapshot?

Hi,

Braille display is working fine now, but I'm wondering if it's possible
to get a snapshot with the experimental (and more accurate, if not
perfect) UEB table, that has all the features of the latest release. If
the Libloui issue has been fixed, using the snapshot I currently have
would just mean I'm stuck with the old problem regardless of fixes,
unless I don't understand how snapshots work, which I will admit is a
possibility.

... How can anyone understand what's being read or enjoy what they're
reading at such outrageous speeds? I've never changed NVDA from its default
rate with espeak. And how can you even tell there's fluttering if the synth
is yammering on so fast you can barely make out the words?
I just tested it and I can't make out what's being said at all. If I didn't
know the contents of the dialogue, I'd be lost.

Important announcement about Windows 10 App Essentials add-on: version 16.06, source code repository change, opening up to wider contributions

Dear members of the NVDA community, Microsoft staff, Windows 10 users, developers of universal apps and others:

Ever since the launch of Windows 10 back in July 2015, one of the questions some users asked was its accessibility and potential of universal apps. As a Windows Insider and a NVDA contributor, I was fascinated by what Windows 10 can do and have resolved to keep an eye on its development, particularly overall accessibility and accessibility of universal apps.

One of the fruits of this was launch of Windows 10 App Essentials, an add-on for NVDA that provided needed fixes and enhancements for users of Windows 10, as well as provide workarounds for various universal apps. The goals of this add-on was not only to showcase what NVDA screen reader can do in terms of committing to continued cooperation with Windows 10, but also to raise awareness of accessibility issues in various universal apps such as Twitter, Feedback Hub, Bank of America and others. The latest version (16.06) includes preparation work for Windows 10 Anniversary Update, adds basic support for Bank of America app and others.

But there is a more important news to talk about: effective June 15, 2016, the source code repository for this add-on will change. As there is no translations support for this add-on, I felt best to move the source code out of the community add-ons repository (hosted at Bitbucket) and move it to GitHub, a platform that was well received by the development community and to open up for wider contributions via pull requests and issue tracking. Also, using GitHub means aligning development strategies with NV Access, thereby allowing contributions to flow back and forth between NVDA Core and this add-on (and others).

The new repository address is:

https://github.com/josephsl/wintenapps

The old address (Bitbucket one) will be removed no later than June 30, 2016.

So with the new address, I (Joseph Lee, the author of this add-on) would like to open up this add-on for wider contribution from the NVDA community, screen reader users and developers, Universal Windows Platform developers, Microsoft staff and others. Please remember this: together, we can make Windows 10 and universal apps accessible, appealing and truly universal.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Joseph

I don't know how uninstalling CCleaner could have caused this. Try
uninstalling speakDropbox and then installing the latest version again.
You don't need to manually delete folders or anything like that. The
goal of reinstallation is to get it to re-add the dll files that
handle speech in the hopes that'll straighten it out. Another possible
explanation would be that it thinks you have other screen readers
running too, although in that case it probably would still default to
JAWS as highest priority. Have you rebooted the computer yet?

Re: Facebook with NVDA

Kenny Dog <hurrikennyandopo@...>

Hi Sem

What sort of stuff on face book?

I have been putting together a tutorial on using face book it will be more on the basics of using it. I am hoping to upload it in the next day or so to my website which can be found at http://www.accessibilitycentral.net

There is a page that comes off there called nvda tutorial for other programs and there it will go. It should be hopefully enough to get some one up and running with face book. There might be a audio one later but I am not sure about other names that might be heard on the list  or the chat part of it.

I will let you know when it goes up if you like?

Hi. I've finally gotten around to trying to learn facebook for reasons of promo for our writing and for our you tube channels. It's difficult for me to navigate and I have the mobile ap as I'm told it's far easier. I use it on my laptop. I run windows 7 and use NVDA, of course. I was wondering if anyone can help me with some useful key commands for stuff. I have a friend who uses jaws as well as NVDA and she said Face book is far easier for her on Jaws. I don't like jaws so I'm hoping I can learn some tips for NVDA with it.
I appreciate any help in advance.
