You may find if it says nothing, than speak passwords won't operate, or to be more accurate, the echo back might not actually be what you put in at your end.

Well, I guess it does depend on what data is in the account. I can see that some accounts, say one I use on the BBC has no personal data in it, it is merely forced on us so the BBC can see what is being watched, and probably in the future check if we have paid the licence.

Re: EyePal
Brian's Mail list account <bglists@...>
If anyone has a reasonable smart phone, I have to say I was quite impressed with how well some of them can to OCR on documents and books held above them by hand. There is also a little holder made of plastic for many phones with the silly name of the Giraffe, which effectively turns it into a rostrum camera much like the original product the person here had.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
Now of course getting the result of the ocr over to the computer is a whole other story, but I'd imagine with Dropbox on the phone and the pc, one could do it fairly easily assuming that this is accessible on both systems. Dear Molly & List:
Kurzweil KK-1000 is still a current product. Version 14 is curr3ent.
Kurzweil flags doubtful characters with an at-sign by default. It is wise to turn this off or all you hear is every character on your page with an at-sign flag.
Have used both Open Book v 9 and Kurzweil v 114. They are roughly comparable as to accuracy & features.
Use the scanner program you know best. You will be more accustomed to its features. Brian K. Lingard

There are flatbed scanners designed specifically for scanning books, called book scanners. I'm not sure how much they cost but they won't damage the spine of the book. You can use a flatbed scanner to scan books, whidch isn't a book scanner and it will work well if it’s a reasonable quality one and those are much cheaper. But you will damage the spines of books, they will become slanted and you may get less money when reselling books. I haven't looked at scanner brands and models for a long time so I won't say much about that. Epson was and I think still is, a popular scanner among blind people. The models blind people bought were in the Perfection series, thus Epson Perfection and then whatever specific scanner you want in that line.

a freezing issue
Hi.
This happened today after fiddling with a load of 50gb folders which I had to delete and copy back to my drives, and so it was a lot of heavy processing on my new amd laptop. I was listening to a winamp stream to. nvda froze up after I had gone away for a while, explorer crashed then I had to reboot. Its probable that I may never have the same issue, I usually don't handle 2 drives and a lot of data at once like this usually and play audio but anyway here is the log. Re: Win10 system restore
Windows has never kept "an infinite list" of restore points, but tends to keep them for the last 4 or 5 major actions.
When you get to the Restore your computer to the state it was in before the selected event dialog, do you have the checkbox for Show more restore points checked? If not, you'll see only one, the most recent one. -- Brian - Windows 10 Home, 64-Bit, Version 1809, Build 17763 A great deal of intelligence can be invested in ignorance when the need for illusion is deep. ~ Saul Bellow, To Jerusalem and Back

Hi All I have a client who is using the latest version of NVDA on a Windows 10 Laptop with Office 2016. The client is reasonably proficient with using NVDA and reports that when attempting to use the “SAY ALL” ( INSERT+DOWN ARROW ) in word, Outlook, notepad various other programs, that the command fails to read to the end of the Page or Document from the currently focused point. The client states it will usually read to the end of the line, sentence, or paragraph and that repeating the command will prompt NVDA to continue reading but again not to the end as expected.
This issue is reported to me as having been occurring for approximately 4 to 6 weeks, So has survived several system reboots. I have ensured via phone that the client is using the latest version and currently there are no updates available for the client.
I have been unable to reproduce this issue on a test system or my work system with the latest version or the previous versions of NVDA. Reset to factory defaults would be the next obvious step but I would like to know if this is a known issue or if there is some way of resolving this without a reset to defaults.
Any advice or assistance is greatly appreciated.

Re: NVDA say all command not working.
Hi Eric, Is your client using any NVDA add-ons at the moment? If yes, it might be possible that a recent add-on update may have contributed to this problem. If it turns out add-ons might be to blame, have your client follow Gene’s advice of restarting NVDA with add-ons disabled and see if that makes a difference. Cheers, Joseph
