Re: For all those who wanted the last xp version of nvda

Gene

I misunderstood your message.  I thought you said that you can run a current portable version of NVDA with XP.  You were saying that you are sending the last version of NVDA that supports XP.  So my statements were wrong about not being able to run the installer to install it.

However, from a little playing around I did, you said this is a development version, not the last production but the last development version, if others get results like mine, it would be a good idea to try running the last production version or earlier ones if the last production version has these drawbacks.

First, I'm running the version you sent on a slow XP machine, much slower than people will generally be using.  Its fine for what I use it for and I use my fast Windows 7 machine where this one is too slow.  But on this machine, using Via Voice, it is very unresponsive while typing.  Earlier versions are much more responsive.  I'm not sure what else you might find as you try it but you may well get a considerably more responsive version by using the last production version or even earlier, if necessary.

I haven't tested with other voices but I suspect this is a general problem.  Via Voice should be very responsive.

My clarification may have some value in case some people think they can run the actual installer and get current versions that way if they are running XP.  This version has already been created but you can't create your own.

I'd suggest updating TW Blue because certain API calls no longer work from Twitter because Twitter has shut them down and did a bunch of other things to put a strangle hold on their API. If you don't update TW Blue I fear you will start to have countless bugs. Also, TW Blue is developed by blind people so it will always remain accessible to NVDA and other screen readers. What I've been trying to figure out, partly for an investigative article and partly because I am curious, is, why window eyes was not released as open source after the company was bought out. Anyway, upgrade your TW Blue.

Hi.

Well, you can download Plotagon on IOS, Windows and Android.

The Android version works somewhat with TalkBack but, it does have
problems like unlabeled buttons and such.

On IOS it doesn't work at all with VoiceOver Shutting off as soon as the
program opens.

On Windows the same happens with NVDA however, when you use the OCR, it
works until you're done signing in.

You can download the program at:

I have a question. Are there anyone who would have the time to create
an addon for NVDA that would work with Plotagon?

It is a really nice program to play with and simple enough that even
a blind person could use it.

You can create and bring your stories to life with it and even share
it with your family and friends. With Plotagon Studio you can even
create and sell your stories to whom ever you want. You only need to
pay a fee to the creators of Plotagon to have the right to sell your
creations.

Does anyone know of someone who would be able to help me with this

I'd suggest updating TW Blue because certain API calls no longer work from Twitter because Twitter has shut them down and did a bunch of other things to put a strangle hold on their API. If you don't update TW Blue I fear you will start to have countless bugs. Also, TW Blue is developed by blind people so it will always remain accessible to NVDA and other screen readers. What I've been trying to figure out, partly for an investigative article and partly because I am curious, is, why window eyes was not released as open source after the company was bought out. Anyway, upgrade your TW Blue.

Re: Updating Computer and Jarte Continued

Brian's Mail list account

Yes unfortunately the only way to get table support etc with Jarte is to buy it I think. Even that is worth it if you use it a lot of course.
As for word, well it is a bit over the top Microsoft used to do a suite called Works with cut down versions for a good price but they retired it some years ago now.
There is Libra Office writer of course which is probably at least as good as Jarte and can read docx files natively.
It has a portable version.

Hi NVDA Groupies,

Quentin, Brian, thanks for your replies to my post concerning reading
the current font with Jarte, and overriding the former with the newer
when downloaded.

Personally, I prefer Jarte over MS Word, which has always acted a bit
clunky on my computer since installed in 2017. The Blind Commission
provided it, when receiving services from them at that time. Thanks
again.

But as far as I know, muting the NVDA controller will make all stopping, including the speech, not only the sound.
Am I wrong?

I suspect that is actually expected behavior though I've have to test it.  I would just turn them off to prevent accidental playing.  Or, there are speech options for some of these options such as speak progress updates and speak browse mode and forms mode.

Hi Quentin.
If i choose another sound device from the synthesizer settings, it seams as only speetch is send to this device.
Progress beaps and focus and brows mode sounds are still heard through the primary sound card.
I don't know if this is a bug or not.

If this helps, I am using a blue yeti and I use it as an nvda sound card when I am recording and I need to monitor the sound.
Using the latest nvda release on windows 10 1809.

Re: Asking for some addon help please?

Brian's Mail list account

Not really but this reminded me of the creation software that was available in the 80s for most home computers to make adventure or role playing games with illustrations. they were quite fun. Most wanted a fee for any creations but I'm not sure why exactly. There were free versions made by addicts at that time.
I think before anyone would agree they might need to see the software and whether its actually possible to make it accessible.

Afternoon everyone and a happy new year to you all.

I have a question. Are there anyone who would have the time to create
an addon for NVDA that would work with Plotagon?

It is a really nice program to play with and simple enough that even a
blind person could use it.

You can create and bring your stories to life with it and even share
it with your family and friends. With Plotagon Studio you can even
create and sell your stories to whom ever you want. You only need to
pay a fee to the creators of Plotagon to have the right to sell your
creations.

Does anyone know of someone who would be able to help me with this request?
